  • It's hot outside and Bowser is wanting to explore! Watch how I bring my Tegu in our backyard! In this video we will talk more in depth about Tegus and cover general questions about them, while watching this amazing Tegu explore. We will also cover how to get your tegu used to a leash, how they behave while outside and how they should behave once fully trained. Notice how he isn’t trying to get away from me, the leash is not tight.
Tegus are very intelligent animals and allowing them to go outside or in new environments gives them a lot of mental enrichment and physical exercise. It’s very important to not let your Tegu become bored. On hot days like this, Tegus will be active and wanting to explore every area in the yard! You will be able to see them basking, walking around, investigating objects and maybe even hunting / tracking other animals. Our Tegu seems to like to be outside and the chance to explore. He also doesn’t mind me being there.
In this session, Bowser didn’t hiss or get nervous. Which I’m very happy about! During this summer, I look forward to bringing our Tegu outside more often to watch this guy explore!
    Enjoy!

How long does it take to tame them down to this level. I have a 10 mth old red ..I can pet her but after a couple of mins walks away or goes into his/her hide..I can pick her up but after 30 seconds tries to get out of my hands...I let her down as i don't want her to have a bad experience..I keep seeing these videos of owners with amazing tame Tegus..Will she become more tame with age ..I know it takes time ive had her 4 mths and can't really hold her ..Shes not aggressive. I work from home shes in the room i work from so i spend hrs with her ..Any tips ..Great vids BTW
