  • This film strip shows and describes the procedure necessary to remove and reinstall the cylinder head assembly on a 1976 Yamaha TX750 motorcycle.
Yamaha supplied their dealerships with the images on microfiche and the audio commentary on cassette tape. The images were scanned and restored, the audio converted, then the combined edited into the slideshow seen here. This source material came from my personal collection. This film was not downloaded from any website and is not reused content. This restoration and presentation of the training material is my work.

I watched this video 50 years ago while in Yamaha 80 Hour Technician School.

Once you scrape a gasket surface and remove the machining marks and have a smooth surface the gasket is never going to be gripped as well. It must have been a nightmare being a Yamaha mechanic.

I use sharpened wooden chopsticks to scrape off old gasket material. Does not damage to aluminum. If you must use a blade, use it at the smallest angle possible, to avoid removing metal. Done with care, the mating surfaces will be in good order.
