A nicely compiled documentary showcasing the glory of Indian Railways. Great work.
@14:00 It seems the person operating the inspection trolley and also giving explanation about token system is Mr. Vishnu who later on became the GM of Central Railways.
He can also be seen in the BBC'S Great Indian Railways documentary.

Great work by you. This video made me to go back to the olden days when my grandparents used to travel by such steam locomotives, and when my mother and father were kids. The background music of sitar and tabla, the narration, the citizens and over all no plastic made me to realise the quality of life thought not financially rich but richly satisfied than todays.

@@quark31 Sorry I don’t have any photos or documents of those years in the late fifties to early sixties . The only photo of my father is standing next to a locomotive just after finished his day . Thank you for the interest but I wish for myself and my children I had something to look back on and cherish . I remember when the Southern Railway imported EMU trains made by Breda of Italy my Dad was called back from retirement due to a shortage of drivers and he had a blemish less record in 35 years of service with the Southern Railway . I recently found a few black and white photos of these Breda EMU trains being loaded at a port in Italy to be shipped to Madras and Bombay .Look up IRFCA photo gallery and you’ll find these EMU trains that were made by Ernesto Breda . I still remember the name plates in each car Breda Ferroviaria Naples Italy .Just google the IRFCA gallery .

The romance of a steam locomotive trains is something you have to experience.
I have sat in steam locomotive trains in UK where steam is still alive and kicking, but never in India.
Steam was already in decline by the late 70,s in India and throughout the 80,s there were only a few handful of regular, services remaining.
Last broad gauge steam train was in the year 1995 and metre gauge in the year 2000. But these were those rare sporadic locomotives.
Basically by the middle of 1980,s steam locomotive trains were almost non existent in major cities and towns of India.
