    Sorry to hear about your shelter.
    A survival blanket across the back,
    a clear shower curtain across the front,
    and you`d have a super shelter.
    Thank You for sharing your video, and bringing us along.

    Great to have you back on air, good to see you looking fit and well. The shelter did well to even be standing after the storms you've had up north. Shame it's in the path of danger. But as you said lessons learned. Great to see you back stay safe and well

  • @bushcraftjoe1
    @bushcraftjoe1 Před 2 lety +1

    Pretty impressive it survived 100 mph winds. Yes widow makers are very dangerous. But you can now take your experience and knowledge to create a better shelter. Great job.

    Hi carrie.great to see you out and about again. I think you definitely made a good decision to avoid the camp given the strong winds. It's always better to be safe than sorry. Stay safe and well. Hopefully you will be able to use the camp again soon as possible. Weather permitting.

      Enjoyed your film, hope you manage to make a new camp soon. As we know the outdoors is unpredictable and sometimes harsh but it can add another element to what it is, as long as no one is hurt. A fallen tree may destroy one home but becomes a home for insects and fungi that will in turn support other life.

    @stevetaylor8446 Před 2 lety +2

    Ello lovey. Wise decisions you guys have made, your safety is more important and we would rather you guys be safe and well. We didn't get much in the way of winds etc here in Kent/SE London. Temperature dropped as expected, but in a week a warm spell coming back in. Bit of a bum deal with the shelter, but as you said...you have learned from the first build and will make improvements the next one. You and the family stay safe and well and I do hope y'all have an amazing Christmas

    Pity the shelter looked great there's a lot of damage there I have had the same problems with my camp area I'm just so glad I wasn't out on the night of the storm but I did go out on Saturday last week and what a nightmare we had to pack up as tree's were still crashing down so scary atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

    Nice to see a new post! Sorry about that widowmaker. It is discouraging but since you have the materials prepared already you could just move your shelter 50 yards to safety? Just an idea to save some labor. All the best and thanks!

    Probably a good thing that it happened during the development rather than when you considered it "done". Understandable that you're upset but I bet the final resulting camp is now going to be stronger and much more able to resist the effects of nature flexing a few trees. Glad you're moving forwards, I look forward to seeing the next developments in Camp Carrie 😁

    Hi mate. Was worried about you as it's been a while. Great to see you looking well. You're right what you say, it can be just as dangerous AFTER a storm as trees & branches can appear ok but can be dangerously weakened & come down in any slight wind. Choose your next spot carefully. So lovely to see you again xx

    you definitely made the right choice not camping in that storm, I gave it a miss too. Sorry your shelter has to be redone. I also had to check the shelter that I've been making and I'm very lucky that it survived both storms but a huge tree has snapped and fallen within 3mtrs of it... Like the rest of us stay safe but stay crazy too!

  • @joekelly9369

    pine trees arent the strongest . theras copses of them on the local golf course as wide as doors . just snapped like matches , some from roots up some half way up the trunks . pine and elder are the first to go , brittle short fibre wood , great seeing you out n about 😀 look for a few old beech trees within the area . more flex , but you'l have to tie supports to it all the best guys
