      The "Egg Apostle" turned Mozgus and his followers into angels because it was Femto's incarnation ceremony, in which he got an actual flesh body; so everything is a mirror of the latest eclipse... including the God Hands, aka "the Angels that destroyed Gaiseric's kingdom", represented by these pseudo-apostles.
      The Egg apostle is the mirror of Griffith, Casca being almost burned alive at the stake by the humans is a mirror of her being almost sacrificed by the apostles, etc etc
      (too many similarities to list)
      My favorite pseudo-apostle remains the Goat-man, short fight but intense; almost makes me want to watch that accursed 2016 anime just for that fight... but I know that just like the couples episodes I've watched from the 2017 one, it would probably just make me angry/sad.

      If that was the case Wyald would be the first to introduce pseudo Apostles as he was a greedy monster who indulged in whatever he saw that fit him. He fought, raped, drank, and such with no care of being punished or whatever. Him raping women to death would be a chance at him impregnating and creating pseudo bastard children that can do his bidding but that didn’t happen.

  • @AnomalyINC
    @AnomalyINC Před 2 lety +6

    I think that often an Apostle or a Pseuo-Apostle takes a form that reflects their inner self, as that is a recurring concept in "Berserk".
    Perhaps the ability to create a Pseudo-Apostle is only available to those Apostles who feel a need for kinship?
    The Count was both created and ended by his feelings for his family. Rosine desperately wanted "playmates" after sacrificing her own family, Mozguz had his own misfit "family", and the Egg was likewise starved for kinship. Ganishka sought to rule, and you cannot rule if there is nobody to rule over.
    Zodd, by contrast, has no such desire for companions. Wyald, as I recall, was a selfish git from the start, so he likely never had any love for anyone but himself to begin with.

    The Count gave what we could consider an official name for those Pseudo-Apostles or Half-Apostles. After turning Zondark into his enpowered puppet, he called him his "Daemon" (with an "a"). Because of the different wording, i am of the opinion that it is indeed their actual name. (I pronounce it like the proper name "Damon".)
    Basically, "Demon" is a redundent name because it applies to all variants of Demonkind in Berserk: Evil humans; Daemons; Apostles; Angels (Godhand); The Idea of Evil. So, "Daemon" is actually a clever twist on the rules of naming.
    (Also, the term "Pseudo-Apostle" was first used by Guts in a manner, the "pseudo" part in full capital with the "Apostle" part in normal, proving the term to be a nickname made up by him on the moment instead of an "official" name. It is also in character for Guts to keep with that naming afterward since he isn't really the thinking type that searches a ridiculously complex or "profound" way of naming stuff like a book of law or a scientist would.)

    Even if Zodd CAN make Pseudos, I believe he wouldn't do it on principle. His driving motivation is to find worthy opponents, and aside from the God Hand, only SK and Guts have been shown to even be capable of posing any serious threat to him (though I suppose other strong Apostles such as Ganishka or possibly one of the other elites in the New Band could qualify). So with all that said, he would not make pawns to fight his battles for him because it would directly oppose his personal goal. The only exception I could possibly see to this is if he made a pseudo with the express purpose of fighting it, but even then with the sole exception of the Egg Apostle pseudos have always been individually weaker than their parent Apostle.

  • @c.galindo9639
    @c.galindo9639 Před 4 lety +22

    I would say Zodd wouldn’t make pseudo Apostles as he sees himself only as a lone warrior and needs to fight to fulfill his bloodlust and to find someone formidable enough to defeat him.
    Nothing in his Apostle state suggests he can make pseudos along with the other warrior type Apostles Grunbeld and such.
    The Count and Rosin want followers so they need to make subjects for their own kingdom.
    Perhaps even Snake King could have made pseudos but really loved exploiting and manipulating humans to do his bidding as he liked to rule amongst them.
    The Egg of the World is like a Behelit itself so really it grants its pseudos what they most desire or see themselves as.
    The goat head guy as some kind of all powerful being that breeds and makes followers through his lustful actions.
    Mozgus and his torcherers as saints and angels which is why they grow angel like wings in their pseudo forms.

    My biggest question with Psuedos is can they be rescued/returned back to human without killing them? Obviously, it would depend on the Apostle that created them, but so far (at least from what I remember) there hasn't been a Psuedo that reverted back to human. All of them just got killed and then returned back to human corpses. Rosine's guardians, Slug Count's Zandark, etc.

    I think you answered your own question. It isn't a matter of ability but of temperment. Zodd would have no use for such beings and as such would create none. Same for all the more powerful combat apostles. They have confidence in their ability to fight so why would they want to make servants? The making of servants seems to be used by those who have less confidence in their own abilities and so are more use to relying on others.

    In the lost chapter of berserk we see Griffith chose to use chaos and death energy around him to create whatever body he see fit, he chose to have wings, and as he saw remorse, worry and suffering as the weak part of him, that's what he lost after the eclipse. So I believe that apostles that can creat pseudo-apostles chose to have this power for whatever reasons they might have. The Egg Apostle for making a perfect world and identity for everyone, Rosine to have others to become "elves" and play with her, The Count to have...well...minions. So, other Aposles that did not choose it such as Zodd may not have It.
    But, we also see that after Zodd lost his horn, the remaining one seems to have grown in compesation for the lost one. So It is also possible that their form is not fix and they can change their bodies and powers at any time. Thus, maybe Zodd and the others may not have this power now, but they can choose later to have If they want.

    5:50 I'd like to _also_ offer the possibility that maybe those apostles (cept Zodd, makes sense that he doesn't give a fuck about followers) _do_ have pseudo-apostles, and they are merely in the ranks of what we consider to be the apostles. There seems to be many "squads" within Griffith's army of apostles with incredibly similar powers and transformations, which would be weird since you'd imagine that making something out of a wish and an externalization of the inner personality would lead to radically differing results (and it _does_ ). Maybe something like Locus squad of very similar function "jousting" apostles just happens to be (at least in part) a gang of his pseudo-apostles, for example, explaining why their designs and functioning differ less than when compared to the apostles as a whole.

    • @ROMANTIKILLER2
      @ROMANTIKILLER2 Před 3 lety +1

      It could be, but in Locus' lancers squad there is also the apostle that ate Guts' arm during the eclipse, which makes me believe they are indeed just other apostles with similar powers.
      Until now, it appears that only few apostles with specific characteristics are able to corrupt humans into pseudos: the Count with his parasitic form, Rosine's cocoons, the Egg with his tentacles (I do not count kaiju Ganishka as he was already beyond an apostle by that time). The majority of other apostles did not seem to have similar powers or abilities, yet that inability does not seem to be related to either strength (Zodd, Gurnbeld, Ganishka were arguably stronger than e.g. the Count) or personality traits (Wyald and the snake of Koca were among the worst trash in existence, yet they had not pseudos along).

  • @TheDarkZeroGame
    @TheDarkZeroGame Před 4 lety +8

    I think it might depend on the role/position you wanted/were when transforming into an apostle that gives you the choice of making pseudo ones.
    Like a child, an icon of religion, a god and a king are people with concepts of influencing the masses and other people around them.
    Ganishka king/god
    Egg of the Perfect World, icon of a dead religion/hidden forces of a current religion
    Rosine, child that influence other children and their growth
    Slug Count, another king
    Everyone else we see who isn't doing any type of pseudo transformation are kinda loners, soldiers where the entire thing is related to their self interests and strength.
    Irvine, solo archer
    Grunbeld, front line solo tank.
    Rakshas, solo assasin
    Snake Lord, seems like a ruler but is just a snake that is using everyone as human cattle
    Keeper of the Hounds, lonely guard.
    Zodd, also a solo person.
    Ones that it's unknown is
    Locus, he's currently a general and captain of lancers but we don't know the role he had before joining. Might not have the ability
    Borkoff (guy that ate gut's hand), very little detail and might also not have the ability.
    Wyald (Hard to tell if his soldiers/followers might have been transformed or strengthen by him. He does have a bit of a leader of a pack type of mentality which makes sense for the "Black Dog Knights")

    • @randallflagg3700
      @randallflagg3700 Před 4 lety +3

      There is nothing that indicates that Wyald did anything, transformation/strenght boost or else, to his black dogs; they even desert him when the Hawks go full force on them.
      Wyald seems like the type to get off on the absolute terror he inflicts on his soldiers, the characters note several times that they seem to fear failing him more than death, and it takes a loooot to finally break their "spirit".
      One could imagine that Wyald might not have enjoyed having basically "robots" under his command, because if they don't have a choice in obeying him or not, there is no sadistic pleasure taken by turning them into "reeks" , if you know what I mean...

    On the other apostles pseudos, they might be able to but way more likely is that they don't want to, take zod for exemple, from what i picked up on his character i'd say he's too proud to depend in anyone but himself, hence he'll likely never want to criate minions, the others likely have that same principle for different reasons, or never found anyone they'll like to power up.

    this are all so different though, in cboth in context and power, I don't know if it makes sense to lump them all together as the same thing, and I don't think just any apostle can do this, most of the apostles we see with this kind of abillity have a sense of wanting to control or wanting to belong, like most of the powers of an apostle, the power to make followers or give powers depends on personality and the wishes of the person upon transforming

I however still a very casual fan as I have only really watched the 1997 anime series and even though I have seen it several times, I have yet to read the manga. I find it difficult to read comics. I was wondering if there you know of an audio version of the manga or if anyone out there has made a video narrating the manga series somewhere online?

      He didn't "help" Mozgus's disciples because he saw them as kin, dude... he turned them into angels to mirror the 5 God Hands (aka "the Angels that destroyed Gaiseric" ) from the eclipse. Femto's incarnation ceremony is a mirror of Griffith's God Hand ascension/eclipse.
      It had nothing to do with the egg apostle seeing "a place for himself in a group full of disabled and weird looking henchman." , come on man ^^'

      @@randallflagg3700 First of all, i already know the purpose of the incarnation ceremony and it being a mock eclipse. There is no doubt that what you said is true in terms of mirroring the God Hand. It also has absolutely nothing to do with Gaiseric and his city, the incarnation ceremony copies the eclipse of Femtos birth, not Gaiserics downfall, even if Mozgus speaks about him and the wise man. Beyond that you are missing the point as to WHY the egg apostle caused all that havoc in Albion . He knew his purpose, but the way causality works is fluid, the incarnation ceremony mirrored the eclipse but everything happened within its own context with its own reason. Before you tell me to re-read chek these pages of the egg apostle talking about Mozgus and his disciples.
      imgur.com/a/7kW8OLW
      This is the beauty of that event in terms of how it mirrors the eclipse, Mozgus' torturer didn't stab Guts in his eye because he knew he lost it during the eclipse, luca didn't hold on to nina, because she knew Guts did the same with Griffith and the egg apostle didn't transform Mozgus disciples only because he wanted to duplicate the ''5 angels''- He acively went out of his way to help them, because he thought his life could have been different if he met them.

    My guess is, most of the War-Demons of Falconia are Pseudo-Apostles. A great deal of them are shown to be of the same kind (or should we call it "species"?) and have an almost uniform-like constant in physical appearances. If we believe that every Apostle proper is unique, then it would make more sense for the Redshirts of the War-Demons to be Daemons.
    EDIT
    My bad, this seems to only apply to the PS2 video game version, which has several alterations to the manga version events.
    One of the WDs literally says they were in the Eclipse, which excludes any senses for them to be "daemons"/Pseudos.

    1) Zod would be a leader of a pride with a maimed or mauled to death brother or father.
    2) his imediate psudos would be lionesses and serving his abusive whims.
    3) He would be in the habit of eating the children of his lionesses that came from other fathers.........which fits into Berserk a bit too well.
    So, I am imagining a story where Guts screws some Red Sonja looking lady. A story arch later she returns as one of Zod's lioness henchmen. And........lets get nuts...........have her ripped open, reveal the premature baby that Guts is most certainly the father of, and have Zod hold the baby in his mouth ready to eat it as they begin to sword fight.

    Pseudo`s are what the name implies, a lie, or a version that appears as the true thing, yet is not it... Zodd, seeking the strongest, and having nothing but disregard for all but the strongest means in my view, that as with the eclipse, he would not have any intention of ever making pseudo`s even if he was granted incentive to do so, as no incentive is there for him but fighting the strong, and making pseudo`s aint gonna accomplish that, nor is anyone but the strong themselves able to be the incentive and then he would fight them, and not listen to them really.. Just as he told Guts, words lack elegance, force your way past... Irvine also, he aint the type to make pseudo`s, maybe he could be moved to lets say turn Sonia into a pseudo if he found her wounded and dying... He seems like an edgelord that feigns hermit-ism, but i bet he has quite some feelings behind that wnb serious mask that is his face... Sad feelings, but that said, most apostles we ``met`` were sad beings that forgot about their sadness through savagery, but that savagery was only there as they gave up what otherewise made them loving... Once faced with anything that resonated that old love in them, like the count, or rosine... They got fucked, as their brute forms kinda relied on their carnality and savagery to offer them power, but when they took a second to think and feel, they would undermine their power for long enough to be debilitated, as rosine got fucked when she tried tactics and achieving precision by human means, by slowing down, when she was already hitting the mark, but was just being blocked again and again... Wyald too was on the roll until it he started considering what might be guts` tactics rather than just taking a tree stump and obliterating everything around him and about him with it, rather than trying to find him and sabotage his tactics... That said, back to Irvine and Sonia - if he found her dying, i think it would remind him of why he ``is a lone hunter``... Of some loss and hurt that pushed him away from anyone as not to have anyone to lose.... A young sister that he lived as possibly an orphan with, and took care of her, until he lost her or by accident killed her, and in so doing sacrificed his eyesight to never rely on shaking bushes to hunt, but on some other form of sense that surpasses limits of mans eyes... Fuck do i know, i aint miura, and miura aint walking in his body around any longer to ask him...
