(31/05/2014) - Hudba
such a gentleman, such class, hard to believe this man is pretty much responsible for grindcore, extreme gore in music and medical imagery in metal and punk music, pornogrind and derivatives
He's the riffmaster of death metal.
Metal in general
@@MetalSupporter95 Iommi is a reality
....and ONE BEAUTIFUL BABY 😍🐾
Bill is just the master, never heard a riff by him that sounded weak, he's like the Hetfield of death/grind!
Living legend..
Such a great guitarist/vocalist and so honest. Respect!
Bill is one of may favourites guitarists!!!!!!!!!
concerteza o meu favorito
И один из моих!
He comes across very well. Intelligent and cool.
He should have a second career as a anti aging skin product rep he has not aged !! "Hi Im Bill Steer and I use Dove!" lol
just vegetarian/vegan, he should do commercials for that, let's crowdfund
You would think him to be in his 30s, but he must have been in his late to mid 40s when this interview happened.
Seriously? I went to look up his age expecting it to say mid 50s. He's only 50, and only mid 40s in this interview. He doesn't look young at all
You do know that alcohol is good preservative? :P :D But you got that right, he’s ageless. Like his playing too.
Looks good if he’s 50 , I’d assume early 40s. But who gives a fuck
Getting into Carcass with the Heartwork album, I guess I didn’t realize at the time just how quickly their stylistic shift had happened. To go from Reek in ‘88 through SOS in ‘89, Tools and Necroticism by ‘91 and then Heartwork in ‘93 is just mind boggling to think about now given how different all of those records sound. You’d think that was 15 years of music if you didn’t know better. I was so bummed when I heard they broke up that later on when the record store I worked in got copies of Swansong i became a huge fan of that album too - just because it was like hearing something from beyond the grave. I didn’t think the album would ever be released. Glad these guys reformed and are still making good music - can’t wait for Torn Arteries to be released 🤘
4:50 Bill admits that his favorite was Heartwork. Me too.
capoman1 gotta say...Surgical Steel really kicked my ass..it would be a close second for me...they should be proud of that one.
Agreed
Would agree on SS. My 2nd as well next to Heartwork.
Heartwork and descanting the insalubrious
Posers
Bill's the death metal king of guitar. It would be killer to have a few and talk classic rock and heavy metal with him.
Oh, Absolutely!
I was bitten by the Napalm Death/Carcass bug in 1989. I saw ND at their first ever performance in the States at CBGB but unfortunately by that time Bill and Lee Dorian were already gone. Bill was always the most talented member of the two bands and I always loved his vocals. He seems very likable and down to earth. Thanks for the upload. I reek of putrefaction!
Pioneer and living legend of Grindcore. Met Bill at a Kreator concert in Milton Keynes, UK (1989 i think...) - he was just stood next to me in the audience enjoying the show, I was drunk enough and cheeky enough to ask him to confirm his identity - which he did with a smile and shook my hand. My friend joked with him about coming to see Kreator to get some guitar tips - he laughed and was very humble - great guy!!!!
Kreator puts on an amazing show till this day
@@ericphantoms4359 Yes! I was luck to see Kreator twice back in the 90's (also saw them in Nottingham) - Mille is one of the best guitar players in the business - and a great metal vocalist
@@xwing1977 hell yea, I saw them with Napalm death in '06, fantastic show, both bands shook the house.
@@ericphantoms4359 I've seen Napalm Death a few times too - first time in 1989 on the Grindcrusher Tour - they had Morbid Angel, Carcass and Bolt Thrower supporting - amazing night (Morbid Angel were amazing - it was just after Alters Of Madness had been released!)
@@xwing1977 NOICE! 89 when they were at their best, last time I saw them was with pig destroyer in 08, both behemoths crushed it, JRs vocals are orgasmic to the ears, ha.
Great interview!
Was lucky enough to see Carcass back in the 90's at the civic hall Wolverhampton supporting Body Count. It was a bit random but it was a real treat, great show from both👊
Love Bill Steer, his writing and guitar work is just phenomenal. I started playing 20 years ago and he's one of those guys who's had such an inspirational influence on me over the time. Those rocky riffs on Carcass' album 'Swansong' ended up teaching me so much back in the day, really fun to learn and play. He's very open and forthcoming in interviews just like here, a real quality bloke. The metal just wouldn't be the same without him.
saw them last month! fuckin awesome show! and Bill was back on backing growls on the old songs!!
A good honest informative interview. didn’t dodge any questions except for the one but that’s just the polite thing to do and no need to imply something about another band.
9:50 me too Bill me too, even though I have discovered Carcass in the last few years but if you guys were together would have plenty of badass albums but glad you are back and we got Surgical Steel, can't wait for the next one.
legend.
Electro Hippies got a mention! 👍
Great band.
If you haven't heard them, search for 'Play Fast or Die' and 'The Only Good Punk' - both albums are here on CZcams, along with their 'Peel Sessions' compilation.
You know it's really funny he says he was trying to push Swansong to a more rocky kind of vibe, because I was listening to it the other day and couldn't help but think there was a little bit more groove in there than their prior work. Especially their older work. But there's some RAD riffs in Swansong. Even if it wasn't as gnarly as their other stuff, it was just a fun sounding album. Definitely a little disenchanted maybe, but the final product somehow became something more than they maybe intended on making it.
Metal God. Saw him live with Carcass last night. Catch em while you can. Amazing.
We need those early tapes!
Legend!
Loving Carcass and Napalm Death (old times sound of course) mr. Steer is kind of a God...
Best metal guitarist ever!
Totally agreed with Bill.
this guy's one of the greatest guitar players of all time!
I listen to all spectrums of music. As a metal fan, id say carcass is of the 1%. Its a band that is unmatched on many levels. They are simply brilliant!
One of the best detthmetal guittar
Its Ok Bill I love Swansong too
I wanna see these guys in concert so bad but I don't know if they're still touring at the moment or not and plus I'm very scared of huge crowds (like at concerts or whatever) and have never been able to muster up the guts to throw myself out there and go to a show quite yet.
Did you ever go to a concert since making this comment?
Always a top man and has time for people...not a bellend like lots of wannabes...Napalm and Carcass...good legacy Bill
Maggot colony takes some beating!!!
How cool is Bill?

How Bill and Amott met?
Anyone else hear dimmu borgir in the background
Dimmu Borgir-Dimmu Borgir
6:14 General Surgery springs to mind.
I LOVE the "Necrology" EP. But, their later stuff didn't do much for me.
Carcass on early days influence more bands, more people than anyother Band of the Gender
Carcass interview - Bill search it and that, honeslty carass are the mike tyson of deathe metal. in my opion, lucky boys
serious some yanks awouldnt;t tuen up in't 80s and carcass would sub a BIG cheer would go up i the crouwd
If they make a movie of this guy they could get James McAvoy =)
speed isn't everything.Swansong is their best album and they don't even play it live.
it's the most well written album musicly and lyrically.the lyrics are relevant to what's going on in the world today.i tried to find one live clip of any swansong material live and still searching....unreal
I'd disagree, really. Lyrics have always seemed kinda forced and lazy on it to me. Relevant? Maybe, kind of. Interesting, refreshing? Not really. The overall songwriting was heavily simplified in comparison to Necroticism and Heartwork. It represented exactly what the band was at the time - tired and bored. To each their own, though.
Sorry, but no. Swansong has its moments, but overall the songwriting is really bead, is a really uninspired album. It has nothing to do with the rock influences, take entombed's wolverine blues, they took a similar direction on that, but it is a spectacular record with amazing songwriting. I think carcass had a hell of a return with Surgical steel, they kept some of the hard rock oriented stuff on swansong, but the composition is stellar.
He looks quite a bit like Liturgys hunter hunt hendrix
You mean he looks like her?
How the fuck does he look 25 still..?!
Drinking Virgins🤣🤣🤣
0:07 Man, that's fucked up, left foot
What do you mean by left foot?
He lost his accent 😔
he never had a strong Liverpool accent
@@gazriley624 He was born near Durham I think. He grew up in Merseyside.
