Looks mechanically sound, no rust, good spec, nice colour, and everything works. It's worth a spot on the forecourt 👍
Apart from 10:18
Also suffer serious injector problems
@@robloxfan4271 mine has 2 cup holders there, instead of arm rest, maybe whole thing is DIY and can be thrown out.

Hello from Bucharest, love your 'cheap car' series more than the 'expensives'! 🙂
Hi. I've never been to Romania. Glad you like them!
Ce faci?
@@HighPeakAutos you should go but not to Bucharest
@@shanginadildo what about Budapest.
@@Sam-gw5pl yeah Budapest is nice, I'd recommend a boat trip down the danube River.
Hey! I’m 30 years old, passed my test 5 years ago and got my first car today ( used to live in London ). Anyway, your channel has been so helpful for me, and used so many of your tips when picking a car out. Thanks so much man
Congrats! Drive safe
I’d defo retail that for £3995 with the hope of getting between £3500-3900. It cleaned up really well and had a great spec. I reckon it would be gone in a few weeks. You’ve done as much as anyone should expect a used car dealer to do for that price: full MOT with no advisories, service including gearbox service (which I’ve never heard of a used car dealer EVER doing that voluntarily!) and dents repaired were possible. That should make somebody a really nice runaround. Let’s us know the outcome 👍🏻
Exactly my point too. I think he puts himself in the same position as a buyer, what would he expect out of the car, which its very very rare to find in people as most are selling cars and hiding soo much from you.
Hi Matt. love to see the cheaper end cars (affordable ones ). keep coming
Lovely cars, i owned a 2006 2 litre pdi 6 speed, had it for 8 and a half years. The only fault in that time was a misplaced top strut mount replaced under warranty. Still on the original brake discs pads and even the battery when i sold it at a still low 60k miles. Happy new year.
Hi matt, Looks like you've found a diamond in the rough there. Good price too. As I have only got an automatic licence here in the uk, the prices of automatic cars are currently astronomical as you know. Great work as always and happy new year!
i liked the design of this era of Seat Leon too, quite stylish and a bit different from most of the Euro boxes! Great transformation inside and out, that grey colour looks very smart and suits the car. I would be tempted to retail it although I know it could come back to bite you particularly in the first few months.
Happy New Year Matt, great videos every week, brilliant and honest reviews.
Glad you like them!
Looks smart and tidy, good colour as well. I think it's well worth a place on the forecourt, new test and service. Not going to hang around for long at a realistic price. Nice one Matt.
Totally agree
@@HighPeakAutos, so you’ve made up your mind; forecourt?
@@HighPeakAutos I'd still get the gearbox checked, then forecourt at £4,000. Winner.
@@break1722 find me one for that price and I’ll buy it
Matt, great honest video, happy new year, I'd forecourt it. love your videos
Another great video! A great insight into your world. Not sure I'd like the stress and overheads myself mind but I'd love to drive all the cars you do. Hopefully you might do some follow up videos or CZcams shorts of if and when you sold various cars. Keep up the good work! 👍
Happy new year Matt thanks for the entertainment 🎉 cheers
No problem 👍 Happy New Year
Hi Matt,
Great video as always returning longevity to a car that can easily be corrected through reasonable car maintenance. Cheers.
Thanks!
Nice one Matt. The cheapies are always the best videos! Hope this one goes well for you financially whatever you decide. All the best from Frankfurt.
Thanks!
Decent start to the New Year Matt👍. Worth taking a chance on I think
I bought one like this 2 years ago. Same color, same wheels, similar spec (copa edition) with heated seats, navigation etc., but 2011 model with 2.0 TDi 103kw engine and manual gearbox.
Had 177 000 km (about 110 000 miles) when I bought it, now it has almost 210 000 km (130 000 miles) and runs well so far with no problems at all. It really is a good looking car and you don't see many of them around here in Czechia where I live.
Another quality video Matt, the Seat looks great after all your efforts. If it were me I’d retail it at £2995. Can’t worry too much about ifs and buts. The auto box was working well before and now it’s had a service it should.....be fine. Keep up the good work👍
Nice one. Love how you had Xmas, New Year & a Holiday and kept the content flowing. All the best for 23 👍
Thanks, you too!
I adore your cheap car purchase vids. Your professionalism and grounded intelligence is admirable. Very well done mate :)
Wow, thanks. Glad you like them!
Great spec for a Leon, I would be quite happy with that (that arm rest would be coming straight out though)
Great video Matt, and made me view Seats in a whole new light. You’re right they are good looking. I wonder if this would make a nice raffle prize? If it breaks there’s not much downside for the winner, but I’m sure many people would enter the raffle for the prospect of a bargain as it is a lot of car.
I'd buy a ticket! When my welder sees my twenty-three-year-old Fiesta coming in for its M.O.T. he hides!

Happy New Year, Matt. Thanks for the great videos. Keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
love All your videos about being a car dealer N the used cars you buy,all the best matt m8.
Great video as always Matt :) Leon has scrubbed up well and nice colour too :) I used to have an A3 as a Company car with that same drive train (1.6 TDi & DQ 200 7 speed dry clutch DSG) It got driven fairly hard for 4 years / 100k and never has any issues with the box at all. I have same gearbox now in my Mk 3 Leon 1.8 Petrol and also fine but only 12k on that car so far. Its not the strongest DSG as someone already said and its torque limited to 250NM so only ever goes in the VAG cars with engines under 2 litres. From doing my own research I found 2 common failure points mentioned a lot, mechatronics unit failure & clutch packs wearing out, the latter of course will depend on how its been driven, i.e. letting car creep with foot half on brake will cause clutch wear on these gearboxes as they use a more traditional style clutch and not a torque converter, so maybe confirm costs with your gearbox people and weight it up from there based on worse case scenario....
The vag cars over 2 litres do not use the gearbox for that reason don’t be scared to go for one
I've spent around 15 years around the SEAT brand as an admin of an owners club, I've had two MK2 Leon's as well. That car is a MK2 Facelift model, it has a few "rare" extras on it such as the armrest and the door sill guards with "SEAT Sport" on them. In today's market worth 3k all day long with all the maintenance done. My old 2010 MK2 Cupra R had a dent on the door in that sport and the local guy managed to get it out.
I reckon that's an aftermarket arm rest ?
@@jordangeoffrey nope it was a genuine part , £120 iirc
@@AndrewJB
Fair play, they're definitely missing them when they don't have them
@@jordangeoffrey yeh it's a must have on the MK2
You know anywhere I can get one? I've looked before but only found ebay specials would rather have oem if possible
Happy new year Matt, great content! Trade it for 2 and a half . Some other dealer will jump at it.
It's a bit of a bonus having all these cars bought from people who live right beside that car park.
Love this car, the colour on this one is also really nice. I have one from the same year, 2010. It's a 1.4TSI manual and it's running smoothly as ever. Bought it 3 years ago with 146.000km on the clock. Today it has 234.000km on the clock. I love driving this thing as you can see and living in the Netherlands we took it for a trip to Germany and France quite often. Serviced every 15.000km and it pays me back every time I'm taking it for a drive. The only complaint I would have is the interior of this generation has a lot of hard plastics. But other than that, loving it!
How funny. I sold my 2010 1.4 TSI manual leon 3 years ago with roughly 145000 km to a dealer that would export it. Is it imported?
Hi Matt, a conundrum! As you have reservations over the gearbox from my point of view I would trade it. It could be fine but, this is your livelihood. Otherwise another good looking car you've saved for someone with the right mindset to take on. Keep up the good work.
I had the 1.6 tdi dsg 70,000miles 1 owner full main dealer history egr went £600, gearbox went £1984! In 1 year 8k miles timing belt and a major service £3.5k all in I had to let go! And the gearbox is non serviceable. Great cars just avoid 1.6tdi dsg
Happy new year from the Netherlands. I really like your cheap car videos. Keep up the good work!
Glad you like them! Happy New Year
Honestly get exited whenever I see a new one of these videos posted 🤣 love them !
My wife has a 61 1.6tdi and its such a good car - 155k miles and not rattles or squeaks - Happy New Year .
Pleased to hear it
I really enjoy these "I bought a cheap....." videos & always hold my breath that the outcome will be good! In this case, you've totally transformed the car & given that it's 12 yrs old, it looks great. These type of automatics are, I think, quite rare & given that I have at least 3 friends who couldn't pass their test in a manual but managed to do so in an automatic, there could be a market for this vehicle out there. Good luck with the Seat & thanks for the great videos which get better all the time!
That car looks fantastic, I love these videos - glad you persevered despite the auto box .
Love these videos , a full review , then the decisions. And “I’ll see you in a few days” Three weeks later 😮😮. Great format,Matt , keep em coming 👍
Its always the same story. Things drag on and I'm always busy :)
I'm with you these DSG boxes can be the work of the devil but a neighbour's daughter has an Octavia 2008 owned from new with one. Her repairer tells her the gearbox will be the thing that kills it, but the last time I saw the car it was due to clock up 300,000 miles and still working!!!
What litre engine and petrol or diesel?
@@wakaflockaproject 2ltr diesel I think if not the 1.9 and its still going!!!
That 7 speed DSG has a dry clutch. Thus the clutch wear doesn’t contaminate the oil. It doesn’t need a service any more than any manual gearbox and in my experience they’re fairly reliable. The thing to watch out for is the clutch, because it’s right at the torque limit with the 1.6 tdi. I’d be careful if it’s a car with this drivetrain + a tow bar and/or a remap
Is this the same DSG thet VW group use these days with 1.5 tsi? This engine also has a similar torque.
@@khelgarironfist3301 As far as I know, anything with less than 250 NM of torque still uses the 7-Speed dry clutch DSG to this day. The gearbox is called "DQ200", if you wan't to google it.
Hello Matt.
100% retail, this car deserves a forecourt spot for sure. Your reputation and honest videos, would surely ensure all buyers you are selling in good faith that the car is strong....
For the money this is a great car and with things as they are right now, if someone offered you 1000 cars in the same condition for the same initial trade in value with a little prep and financial outley..... you'd have a good start to the year and you'd sell a lot of these older, high mileage but still strong cars.... Mix these cars in with some newer higher valued stock and I'm sure you'd have a recipe for success.
As always great video and assessment of cars....
Keep up the great work Matt and get this car on the forecourt 👍
Muchas Gracias y Feliz Ano Nuevo para usted!
I've been watching the Qashqai video over and over again! This video is so good, thanks for the good videos😀keep it up
Haha Thank you so much 😀
@@HighPeakAutos No problem :) Gonna keep watching the qashqai video because why not 🤣
Looks pretty good, I'd retail it and tell the customer to watch the video so that they are forewarned! I do sometimes wonder with these neglected cars whether they can truly be turned around, or whether the years of neglect will still show through within a few months in some way. I think I'd sooner hunt around and find one that hasn't needed a load of catch up maintenance, if I was buying.
another top top video. Matt doesnt forget his bread and butter. So many channels start off with budget cars then move on to 10k plus cars. Matt has the occasional pricey car but doesnt ignore the cheap and cheerful motors.
Brilliantly made, always love the thinking out loud. Gotta be worth 2750 at least
Thanks. I appreciate that!
Honestly, I enjoy these videos a lot more than the latest million dollar sports car that I’ll never own.
Looks lovely Matt! Well done. 👍
Thanks 👍
Great videos Matt keep it up. Those leons where a great car in their day. General rule of thumb on DSGs any of the lower powered cars will always use this the 7-speed dry gearbox. These are the ones that can be jerky and give issues. In fact they dont even have a service interval. VW will tell you they are sealed for life.
The 6 speed wet clutch (which is what you would find in the 2.0 diesel) is a much more robust unit. They have a service interval of every 40k.
Yaa that's the trouble with the DQ200, I wonder if it's cuz it's dry clutch, that's the reason VW doesn't want the oil changed cuz essentially it's a manual box with dry clutches and a mechatronic computer unit to control it and I don't hear manual gearbox oils being changed often do u
Used to pick these up a few years ago for 1 or 2 grand, mainly the TSI petrol and they sell on quite well. There isn't a specific gearbox service on the dry clutch 7 speed DSG though they use mineral oil, changed mine about 80k.I would retail it and ebay could source you a DSG or mechatronics for about a grand if the worse comes to the worse, the VW 1.6 is quite a dull engine but should do 50 MPG easily enough.£2495 could be your car of the week LOL.
This generation of 1.6 diesel much sweeter than later generations of the engine. The 2.0 is more fun though
@@paultasker7788 ya my golf 2017 1.6tdi DSG is quite noisy actually, don't know if it's cuz it's DSG tho
Also, mine has done 80k so far too and the shift quality isn't the smoothest, did u change the oil in the mechatronics unit and the gearbox itself?
Don't SEAT say you need to replace the DSG oil change every 40k miles?
@@ToxCcc that's with the wet clutch gearboxes
Turns out the auto models are incredibly rare! Might be worth a go with a retail sale.
Didn't know they existed
Happy New Matt. Another top video review, great cars those Leon’s. I’d retail it. Serviced a full years MOT(advisory free) too good a car to retail. Deffo shift it for £3.5k.
I think you should trade it. Less hassle. Your mechanic and dent guys must be good friends because those prices seem quite reasonable compared to what I’m used to.
Only two unheard of tyre brands. Certainly an education every time I come here! That came together well, but I get your hesitation.
Doing this job opened my eyes too
Cheap little AUTOMATIC cars are always good sellers. My experience of these cars with the auto I'd retail it. Although the mileage is at the point where you could start getting gearbox faults. That said its not a sporty one so gearbox won't of been abused. You tend to see gearbox issues on the more sporty ones
Automatic cars always command a premium as well as there’s fewer of them!
Happy New Year Matt , always look forward to your videos
Thanks Same to you!
Retail it Matt - you’ve gone through it properly and the gearbox drives well too; you’ve even done front & rear disks and pads! It will make a great car for someone needing an auto and should sell well. Can’t see the point of trading it when you’ve done (or paid for), all that work…
I had a 2017 Seat Leon 1.4 fr,it's one of the best cars I've ever had,it was a bit low to get into, but once in & seated it fit like a glove. It was pacey handle corners brilliantly & it was a great looking car,I'd rather have it compared too the Golf,it's got better ,looks & I'd say handling as well great motor.!
I’ve got the same 7 speed DQ200 (dry clutch) DSG in my MK6 Golf and it’s mint at 130k miles now. I think there’s some good money in this Leon 👍🏻
I've a 2017 golf with the same gearbox and it's on 80k with no previous servicing done on it and it's still running smooth and whenever I asked a VW specialist near me, they said they wouldn't bother servicing it but I'm hearing some people would advice on changing the gear oil
Would u consider getting it serviced and is Ur gearbox changing gears smoothly? In mines, u can feel it change down when slowing down on a hill but people say that's a dry clutch characteristic
@@rejoicerone3176 yeah it’s nice and smooth still, granted I commute 70-80 miles a day so using the 7th gear mostly. No need to worry about getting it serviced unless it starts to get really sluggish, Vw themselves say it’s a “sealed for life” box
@@mohammedkahaf2428 Which you shoulnd't believe, if the box gets sluggish servicing it might actually not help with it. My volvo from 2004 with geartronic also should be sealed for life but if you dont service the gearbox youre gonna end up with broken transmission sooner than later.
@@jaskajokunen3716 mines isn't sluggish, changes gear super fast, like u can feel the 1st to 2nd gearshift when car is cold but smoothes out when the gearbox and engine is warm
This is awesome, Leon’s are undoubtedly my favourite car, between brand and style ever since my dad had the Mk1 pd150 cupra, I even have a white mk2 myself. It’s great to see one restored to its former glory, cleaned up great!
I´m thrilled to bits with Matt´s spanish !

Happy new year and thanks for all the videos last year. Id defo retail thst - it will be a great buy for someone.
Cheers! Happy new year!
Result is superb, go with retail at a good price got a feeling luck will roll with you on this one
What a great rescue and a decent little motor with loads of life left in it if the next owners take a little pride in it and service regularly.
Only downside is that auto box so I won't be beating down your door to do a swap for my manual Golf 🤣
I'm sure which ever way you decide to move this on you're in the money 👍
Matt a wonderful result well done
Love they way you go straight to the tyres. Cheap tyres often say a lot about the owner of a car.
Happy new year! Great review as always. Who is your auto gearbox specialist?

I have the same year car with similar miles. had it since 36k and has never needed a new gearbox or clutch. Still going strong! LOVE the DSG

Happy New Year Matt
Happy new year!
This Seat is a beautiful looking car, also it’s now in great condition, both aesthetically and mechanically, well done Matt❤.
Looks like a really good car and definitely worth the money, hopefully that slow start was due to a slightly flat battery and not the dreaded injectors issues that plagued the 1.6CR TDi
Hi Matt. Great video as always. Any chance of some follow up info on sales of these cars. What you end up selling them for etc... Your very open and honest but I understand if you want to keep that sort of info confidential.
Go for it Matt!!
Hi Matt, I'd say price it right at the upper end of market value to discourage the rif-raf who want a car for free and don't understand the word "used". Then, when you find someone who's reasonable and is considering it because they recognize value, you have room to negotiate. Good luck!
All the best for 2023 mat I've watched you from the beginning your a great CZcams car 🚗 dude 👍
Thanks. Happy new year!
Just what i wanted to see from the channel matt im looking to get my first car and i really like the Leon Mk2 s looks
Hi Matt!
You know a good car when you see one, follow your gut - it's a clean, desirable, decent spec automatic which bring a premium. Let them know about the DIY armrest, and retail it - after negotiations, it's a £3k car all day long!
Great video once again 👏
Good spec with being the auto too.
I'd say take with you on your next trip to Spain and put a for sale sign in the window. 👍
The Spanish love these!
Great story, everyone loves a cliff hanger! Good luck whatever you decide. I'd be bold and retail it. 👍👍
Hey Matt! You done a fab job spinning around The Sociedad Golf!! It looks fantastic after just over £500 spent on it. Watching your videos is an education for myself too!! Thanks.

Happy New Year Matt. In answer to your question, Sell it from your forecourt, it will do someone a good turn.
When i used to sell the odd car 30 years ago, to get rid of the bobbling on the seats, i used to very lightly shave them with a Bic Razor. Its surprising what a difference it can make, same with the edges of the seat belts if they have signs of fraying.. You dont need to put shaving foam on them though..lol
Great video I have a 2007 1.6 platinum model with 126k. It's in great shape and always garaged
I'd add it to the forecourt. I'd say for the amount profit potential, I'd say it is worth the slight risk, high risk, larger reward! Great video.
Totally agree with you about the golf boring
It's impressive how rust has become less and less of a concern in recent years. My cousin bought a 12 year old VW Golf III in 2008, and it was more rust than paint (not really, but it was very bad). Nowadays one can buy a 15 year old car and it's still in decent shape.
Best wishes for 2023 Matt
Thanks! Same to you
Great video, Matt ❤️
That Seat has the en vogue colour of the moment, and I reckon you should get really good money for it?
Good luck, all the best 👍
It does!
as said already, worth a spot on the forecourt. It's a nice little car and would do a family who would want a cheap, simple small hatchback
Happy new year Matt! Thanks for the brilliant videos. Do you have any recommendations for car body shops in Manchester?
Love this video having bought myself a 2011 1.2TSI variant just a few months back for a first car. Wanted something other than a corsa, fiesta or polo and found these. Paid £4k for mine at 93k miles and have no doubts that with good care it’ll go double that, fingers crossed anyway. Definitely sell it on!
Good choice!

drives well, what more could you as for and at a reasonable price point?
Thank you, fun✌
Cheers. Thanks for the tips!
Been watching these videos for a bit and Im not an overly car person but there a good insight into what to look for etc. HOwever one thing always gets me, what is the dislike for non matching / non branded tyres?
Great content as usual only thing I disagree with is budget tyres if your not doing performance speeds and the state of the current roads set of 4 budgets £170/200 fitted just replace again once down to 3mm or 2mm I buy budgets and get good wear out of them instead of a mid range but no issues on spending on full service every 10k
I put a set of 4x 175/65 R15 4 M+S THREE-A P306 on my car,it has good ratings and cost £160,it drives great. On my older car was Dunlop Street Response 2 - 175/65R14 82T and 4 of them cost the same.
Another top review!
Thanks again!
what a great little car, proper trooper. Definitely worth being on the fourth-court.
This is a new manufacturer for me but it does look like quite a decent model. You certainly put some time and effort into producing these videos. You have earned your success. I enjoy the cheap cars as much as the expensive ones and I don't think I'm Robinson Crusoe as far as that is concerned. Please keep them coming.
