    I swear you are my favorite boxing coach on CZcams. It seems you have unlimited knowledge of the sport. I’ve favorited the majority of your videos. I practice. Idk if I want to box professionally but I enjoy boxing since it’s fun and it forces you to pay attention to everything from footwork, to ring control. Control and awareness

    Great vid! i am 57 and just started boxing because of a video i saw of yours about never too late to start boxing. Thank you. You are also a very likeable dude the way you deliver your video's. i bought a 150 lb Title heavy bag, Title gel training gloves and Title 6x9 speed bag. That should get me started anyway. i have always been a weight lifter and treadmill guy so i should be able to take on boxing and have some fun. Thanks again for being a great mentor.

      @@PrecisionBoxing your blog about gloves led me to the Title Gel gloves. your recommendation about 12 or 14 oz i was not able to do because my hand size is 9.5 inches across the knuckles around the palm. i was forced to get the XL gloves which are either 16 or 18 ounces. i got the bigger speed bag because i am a newbie and thought it would be easier to learn. i also got 2 pair of sanabul wraps. so i think i have a good starter kit. Thanks again for your help and inspiration. You convinced me to pull the trigger!

    From my understanding.. with peekaboo, that one one two setup is specific to get your opponent to slip or step to your right, (as you end up very slanted and bent over to your left) which then perfectly sets up the gazelle strike and not for him to stay right infront of you? if his opponent stayed infront of him, he opted for the upper cut..?

  • @Breadking100
    @Breadking100 Před 5 lety

    In my experience the left hook is just as common a counter to the right hand. I find working off the momentum of the thrown right into a duck under/side step to the right often puts you in perfect position for coming back with another right or left uppercut or hook to the body, and at the very least means you are off the center line for whatever the other guy throws. Also a good way to drive the opponent to the ropes and unload. I like the gazelle punch in theory but can see many times when you simply get smothered or are could still be in the line of fire. I can see how it works if you are good at pressure though. thanks for the tip!

    I have a question about footwork/circling while punching. (Im a southpaw btw) So when I’m circling to my right and throwing a jab I know I’m supposed to step with my lead leg and torque my hips while jabbing and I’m fine with this. However my question is what foot should I lead with when circling to my left while throwing a jab? I know people say I should be stepping with my left/rear foot when I do this but I find it’s more comfortable to step with my right/lead foot when circling to my left because I get more torque in my hips and I stay balanced. Most people say this is crossing your feet but my stance is sideways so I think it’s just like walking. However when I don’t throw the jab and just circle to my left (without punching) I feel better to do the traditional footwork (which is step with the left foot when moving left) Any suggestions?

  • @GeneralBarabbas
    @GeneralBarabbas Před 5 lety

    Hi! First of you are great and have been so far the only teacher I've had in boxing. Now I actually practiced this yesterday in the gym (without the gazelle step) and I recently hurt my left knee after working out too hard and also I think it was because I was using the wrong foot technique when throwing jabs (I basically twisted my left foot (orthodox) almost like a hook, which I believe cause some damage to my knee). Now when I practiced this yesterday I noticed first of all pain (I guess I'm not fully healed yet) but I also felt that my balance was waay off. I also feel my balance is off when I throw punches some of the time, usually it is that I like lean into the shot and my upper body gets infront of my lower body and the weight balance gets quite bad.
    Now my question is, how can I improve my balance and I guess footwork to keep these things from happening? Got any suggestions or maybe even video for it (I have not found anything specifically related to this in your channel).
    Thank you!

    Hey coach, I sparred for the first time a few weeks ago, and it was relatively light with someone much more experienced to ease a few new people into sparring but I got caught with an uppercut that landed nicely on the bridge of my nose and I started leaking. Now its been 2 weeks or so since then and if I even get tapped my nose will start bleeding. My coaches will stop a spar if there is a bloody nose so I wont be able to ignore it. I've been avoiding contact as much as possible these last 2 weeks but It has only slightly improved. In your next Q&A could you cover bloody noses and what my options are? I really want to spar again but I dont want to bleed all over the canvas and the other guys glove if I just get jabbed.
