I went to copper stub outs with pex because without fail I would always break at least 1 tab on the plastic support bend. Also, because some of our customers end up picking out fancy shutoffs that only come in sweat.

About two and a half decades ago I was working late on a Friday just about to leave a house when I was upstairs going around checking on things making sure everything was locked up and closed down. I heard a big pop and then I heard a loud stream of water and saw a steam everywhere in a brand new finished floor ceilings and walls on stories. I damn near jumped out the second story window down to the ground level into the basement and started hitting every shut-off valve I could find. I tried to dry out everything as best I could we still had a bunch of fans on the property but still the ceilings and walls and floors all had to be redone. After that I will never trust text Pex. If it was 15 to 30 minutes later I would have left the property and being Friday night nobody would have been back there till Monday morning. That would have completely destroyed the entire house I'm sure the contractor I was working with was so grateful that I was there and able to put a stop to it as fast as possible knowing that if I wasn't there the damage would be so much more severe. Of course he was pretty pissed off the plumbers that put the plastic Pex in in the first place. I seen all I need to. And this stuff is supposed to last. No copper last Pex does not. Specially for a radiator situation or hot water. This house was in New Britain Connecticut and all of the plumbing copper was stolen out of it that's why they went with PEX

My house was built in 1980 and had several leaks involving pex with connectors. I was going to replace it with copper but the plumber said I am better off with the PEX because it can be expanding and shrinking during the weather.

People have had problems with copper piping failing, too. Look at the news of the big storm they had down in Texas a couple of years ago. Most of the pipes that were reported as damaged were copper. There wasn't much if any reports of homes with PEX having those issues. Everything had pros and cons.

We are doing a recirculating pump on both cold (chiller) and hot side. Every fixture will have cold/hot and return lines. No tapping in to other lines. The plan is to have 4 manifolds with check valves one for hot and cold and the 2 respected return lines. Having both lines running will keep fresh water in the entire house. This way if one sink does not get used often it has fresh filtered water at all times. This will reduce the fittings down to just a single Tee in the wall. We are also going to put in access panels where we can to reach every fitting where we can. We are also going to use outlet boxes where we can. For ice makers, sinks, toilets, dish washers and so on. These boxes will make for a fresher install. All of the lines will be insulated along with in wall and ceiling insulation will be wrapped around the pipes. We are going to do radient heat as well which means a whole lot of lines all in the same general area.

I’m no plumber , but the plastic red and blue pex sticking out is god awful! Would much rather see someone install a 90 with a stub sticking out in copper. It just looks way more finished and professional. Pex looks sloppy.

Problem is, Mice and rats Eat pex's pipe. In fact they're magnetically drawn to it, Is a slight electromagnetic field happens when water passes through a pack's pipe. And rodents cannot help themselves.
