considering a moonwalk involves putting your body weight on the foot thats going forward to make yourself go backwards. it makes spots moonwalk more impressive considering the foor that was going forwards was intierley in the air. spoilers : spot uses its other feet to jump backwards, with the feet staying just a few millimeters off the ground. too look like they are sliding on the ground. spot actually jumps twice per step. probably to make the moonwalk move abit smoother.

Then the robot repeats the motions it was taught. That's how most robots work with vector logging, so that's how they'll have done it too if they're efficient.
