This is Film! 2021 | #1: Copyright

In deze eerste sessie van de collegereeks This is Film! Film Heritage in Practice laat gastspreker Claudy Op den Kamp (Bournemouth University) zien op welke verschillende manieren auteursrecht in kunst en film wordt ‘geactiveerd’.
Het maken van films met found footage is in het digitale tijdperk volledig veranderd. Auteursrecht is tegenwoordig een sleutelelement. Voor deze openingssessie van This is Film! heeft Eye een deskundige op dit gebied uitgenodigd om te vertellen over de rol van auteursrecht bij het toegang krijgen tot collecties in filmarchieven en het maken van films met found footage.
In deze lezing behandelt gastspreker Claudy op den Kamp (Bournemouth University) de verschillende manieren waarop auteursrecht in kunst en film wordt 'geactiveerd', bijvoorbeeld in de Film ist-trilogie (1998-2009) van Gustav Deutsch.

In this first session of the public lecture series This is Film! Film Heritage in Practice, guest speaker Claudy Op den Kamp (Bournemouth University) will show how copyright is differently “activated” in art and cinema contexts.
The practice of found footage filmmaking has changed tremendously in the digital age, elevating copyright to a key topic. For the opening session of This is Film!, Eye has invited an authority on this matter to discuss the role of copyright in access to archival film collections, and found footage filmmaking practices.
In this lecture, guest lecturer Claudy Op den Kamp explains how copyright is differently ‘activated’ in art and cinema contexts, addressing - amongst other examples - the Film ist. trilogy (1998-2009) by Gustav Deutsch.
