Thank you guys so much for the support ;)
my brother you are an impressive person
As a fellow product designer who has been watching CZcams videos about people making stuff for pretty much his whole life. I would like you to know that these are the exact kind of videos I always hoped to find. To any young or learning designer who stumbled on this comment. Watch all of Miles’ videos. The positivity, uniqueness and wide array of techniques he shows will take you very far in the design world. Big ups Miles, keep up the amazing work🙌🏽
Great to see a maker who doesn't just stick to a single type of make.
Miles, once again you have shown off your incredible versatility. Well done, all of those bags looked amazing.
Thank you, I like mixing things up a bit and not just sticking to woodworking. Thanks for watching!
I love your woodworking content, but awesome to see you take your talent and eye for aesthetics to other mediums. Textiles is a different beast for sure.
Thank you! I love using so many different mediums so even though wood is my favorite it's hard to constrain myself to just woodworking ;) Thanks for watching.
The final showcase is such a pop-off. Being able to ride around with your own bag...what a boss
That FG-20 is such an underrated camera.
This blows my mind, you have done an amazing job! To not only design a bag for exactly what you want, but to then figure out a pattern and sew it all together..... man you are epic.
yo your dad needs to start a CZcams channel on sewing. his shop looks like thres a lot of experience in there!
Miles, love the sewing shop of your father! But even better is your filming, explanation and the way about how you create your story. Really nice idea with the shrinking tube! Loved that!
FINALLY!!! FI-NA-LLY! For years now I've regularly searched CZcams for someone showing how proper, modern, durable bags and such are made, and this is the first time something shows up. Could you make or have you made a video on what kind of fabric to use and where to find it, or do you know e.g. a good book? Actually: anyone reading this please chime in 🙏
I know so little that I don't even know what to look for, but I have an eternal dream of making ADHD-friendly custom items for myself. Not least a backpack. I've looked both online and in all fabric shops in almost a 100km radius, but online there's never any information on e.g. the tensile strength of the fabric and in the rural area I'm in they only sell and know about either really dainty fabric or fabric for curtains.
I've actually put together a video on what kind of machine/fabric/tools/hardware you'll need to start making your own gear, you can find it here:- czcams.com/video/zFmRAQkzt3o/video.html
@@jnxmck Better late than never! I wonder why that video didn't pop up except because youtube search is broken🤬
I've bought some materials that I'm not so sure about, but they where cheap. I probably need to make a lot of mistakes anyway. I thought I could use my wife's machine, but from that video of yours, I think I might try out the foot crancked Singer standing in her family's old summer house. Her grandmother (I think) used that machine up until the 80s or 90s, so it might be in somewhat working condition
Also, they are very suspicious of a man even visiting their shop, so I never feel very welcome
Edit:
🤦♂️ you only have seven videos, I could have looked through your videos and found it instantly 🤦♂️
It would be really cool if you had a tour of your dad's sewing shop!
I make bags as a hobby and really enjoyed seeing how you made this bag and how everything came together.
I haven't personally seen anyone insert foam into a bag in the same way you did. Normally I sew my to the edges. But that does become thick when it comes time to joining pieces together. So I will have to keep this in mind and try it next time I have a bag that involves foam.
Congratulations on a very inventive use of bulldog clips. 🥇
I know I'm 6 months late, but for anyone contemplating making a bag like this: A lanyard knot can be better than the simple overhand knot on zipper pulls. They're a little better for grabbing when you want to pull the zipper either way.
That said, the overhand knot used here is simpler to tie, so if knots are not your thing, you don't have to learn something new :)
The binder clips are genius.
Hey Miles,
I reaaaaaly love your videos, although I have not watched them all. I just wanted to say, that you live the life I want to live. We both play guitar (but you do it waaay better), we both skate and I also like to work with wood and build things. But I just start to get good doing things, and you keep going until you are a pro at it. I just found your account a few days ago, and I'm already a big fan of your work. I always just said that I am going to learn how to photograph with film, but you went and did it. You are my role model and I will keep going with all the things I mentioned until I am truly good at them, just like you!
this is probably the coolest guy on youtube
Liked this video when I saw a Teen holding a roll of 35mm film! EPIC!
Sheeeeeeesh, lookin pro. Vice cool. Wish my dad had a legit sewing studio!
I apprenticed as a seamstress when I was about your age (and my master carver father taught me woodworking as well)… I am thoroughly impressed. I’ve made bags before, but nothing this well executed. You are lucky to have access to dad’s shop!
It always annoys me how many CZcamsrs seem to have access to all the best tools and materials, while I’m over here scraping through trash and using hand-me-down tools, but I digress. I just hope you appreciate what you have. And I will subscribe and appreciate what you do with it!
PS I didn’t know they still made film for photography!! Another skill I learned in my youth, working at a photo lab in my early 20s. Kindred soul.
This is my first video on this channel I've ever seen. I liked and subscribed in the first seventeen seconds the cinematography quality was THAT impressive!!
I really appreciate your videos! Love your designs and your positive energy. Also I think it's really noticeable that you care about the people watching =). Keep up the great work!
Since i watched the colab,i have seen all your videos. Thank you for beeing on YT and sharing your awsome work. Cheers !
Thanks Alexandru. That means a lot that you watched my other videos 🙏
Love the kendama stickers on sketch book. Your kendama video is how I found your channel a while ago, and I'm stoked I did because you whip up some insane builds bro. You inspire me to think more creatively and to just try new things. Cheers man, wishin' you nothing but more success
You do a great tutorial! Great voice, great voice over , great videography! Thank you 😊❤
Thank you, that means the world to me. I’m glad you think I have a decent voiceover voice haha
Sweet bag! Thanks to your clear and concise instructions, I think I may put a zipper on something.
Congratulations, young man.
This is cool as! Your Dad is awesome too
Awesome stuff! Amazing how crafty you are at such a young age. Must've had some good teachers and a lot of youtube lol 😀
I'm so impressed with your sewing ability, creativity and video making skills, especially at such a young age. You are a huge inspiration for many. Thank you for sharing your talents with us all. 😊
This dude absouletly living such a cool life.
There was a time where I was all about retaining that classic film grain look, then I found that it cost me like 150 bucks to get three rolls of film developed, they needed to be sent off to a separate lab and it took like a week to get back. When I was a kid and you could get a roll of film developed for 10 bucks in less than a day. Times have changed, and so I finally switched to digital completely. If I want something close to film grain, I just pull out the old Canon 5D.
Miles, just binged on this video and the one where you built the sunglasses. I really like both of those completed projects. Like other commenters have always pointed out your attention to the details and the overall design concept set your projects apart. Aside from your maker skills, I most appreciate the sophistication of your video story telling. Thanks for sharing so much.
looks like your basic toiletry bag from Walmart Good Job
Slick Design Miles!
That looks amazing! One thing I like to do it weave my zipper pulls through both holes in the zipper thus doubling the straight of the metal zipper pull.
the title grabbed me because yeah, a custom bag WOULD solve my problems, and then the thought of a pocket specifically for a sketchbook made me way too excited. this is so cool, dude, thanks for making the pattern available!
Bravo Zulu. Well done mate.
Your Father has an impressive shop.
Your skill and ingenuity are top notch.
I've never tought I will enjoy watching a whole video about making bag.
I hit the subscribe button but then realised I was already subscribed. Great job with the bag!
Yooo! Keep working, man , ur talented! Much love from Romania! God bless your soul!
The video got no right being this good.
Well planned and engineered! The slanted zipper IS really aesthetic. Maybe it's best you didn't realize what a pain it would be. Wise decision to leave it off the pattern, but it looks excellent.
I really enjoyed watching you make this bag. Great job!
I gotta admit that curved zipper adds such a splash of flare, I think it was worth the extra trouble.
Very nice work. Nice to see young folks getting into sewing. I started when I retired and turned 68…should have done it long before, because now I have a nice little retirement Etsy shop making bags.
dude how are you not a bigger channel??? like holy mother of quality
Haha thanks dude! I'm just having fun ;)
I’m mind blown at your skills 😮
I have been watching a few of your videos but didn't realise you're into film cameras until now. Cool project might have to give it a go.
Super inspired by your content to take the plunge and build more things myself! I've binge watched almost all your videos and it's just great how you explain the making process in detail. I'm sure your channel will blow up any time soon - because the content you put out is just world class! Greets from the snowy Finland and have a nice holiday season.
This was a very inspiring build. I recently was given a used sewing machine and I purchased a Kumiko kit set from Johnny Tromboukis #jtwoodworks because you inspired this old guy to expand my skill sets. Thanks Miles!
Hi Tom,
How has your sewing and Kumiko journey been going? I’ve thought about doing Kumiko too but I’m nervous about getting started.
Well done. I love the pop of color that the yellow zipper and stitching add without being too much. Keep up the good work.
Great job! I sew and photograph, but for some reason I never thought of combining the two!
Amazing video mate! Keep going! 500k subs within next 3 years i guarantee!
Today, this video piqued my interest. And it did not disappoint. You're a cool guy.
Came to your channel after the Tenhun collab vid. Watched your vid and was blown away by the talent you have so i subbed. Watching this vid I can now see you have many layers of talent and creativity. That bag looks amazing and so professional looking Guchi would be proud:). Well done and keep up the fantastic work
Really nice. Great video as well. If you make another one I recommend double stitching everything. It will last much longer, and is one of the benefits of a DIY bag. Most companies only single stitch to lower costs.
WoW!!! So creative and talented! The bag turned out great!! Your parents must be so proud!!
I was hooked when I saw your kumiko guitar and amp. Once again, you’ve made such a beautiful and aesthetic item. I love your style and your videography. There are some very amazing shots in this video! Keep up the awesome work. You continue to inspire me and I can’t wait to see what you build in the future!
Wow, very impressive. I work in leather, and I might be able to design this in illustrator, but making it, that's a different story.
Great film, well shot and edited. Gorgeous bag, well designed and constructed. Mad sewing skills. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Thank you for the support as always! It's just fun to throw in a sewing project here and there. Thanks for watching.
I have the exact same bag. It's called a wash bag.i take it on holidays to keep my wash kit all in one place. But hey congratulations now someone can steal all your stuff in one swift manoeuvre.
Amazing video! And great bag design! Im a big fan of the color scheme and patterns, love it
Thanks for watching the video! I'm pretty happy how all the colors came together also, and it does tie in with the kumiko pattern ;)
@@MakeWithMiles love it man, also the color of your videos, its just incredible, i assume you do some color grading but the environment you're in is incredible for these cinematic type shots! Anyway love it all my guy keep up the amazing work ❤️❤️
Bro you're still in highschool, and you can draw, woodwork, digital fabrication and sew. 🤯🤯🤯Subscribed man in for the long game, can't wait to see you grow even more! Keep up the good stuff man 💪🔥
That’s hella dope dude! I just started watching your videos, 10 hundred brought me here
Congratulations on graduating highschool. Miles awesome job. Hopefully you get great use out of it my friend. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making. God bless.
Thank you so much Jared! Super excited for this summer because I will making a lot more videos. Thanks for the comment ;)
@@MakeWithMiles glad to hear that. Your very welcome
Duuuuuude I'm absolutely stunned. The design, the functionality, the level of polish, all incredible. Especially loved the nasa one with xpac material! I'm so inspired.
why i never thought about using binders to sewing?! thats briliant! need to try it.
That's beautiful.
That's a dope bag.
This is so cool!
stumbled on you and want to drop love for seeing younger people working out the mechanics and building things!
Never stop creating things like this! ❤
love the industrial machines
You're awesome dude, thanks for the inspiration to make my own, but better XD. Cheers from Poland!
прекрасное творение! да и вообще ты просто клевый чувак!
Cool bag!
WOW! Young man, you are doing some fine work! You have a great future ahead of you in whatever you choose to pursue. Loved the camera bag.
ok wow I am speechless.... that must be so satisfying and rewarding to be able to use a bag that you made!!! seriously, so Impressive
So cool!!!
bro you should have so much more subs! keep it good, congrats
Very well done!
Great Job!
Amazing job looks great
Such awesome work!!! love to watch your videos.
That’s sick. 👍🏻
This is such a brilliant channel, very inspiring. Thank you.
Never thought id enjoy this as much as i did. It was just mesmerizing to see you work with fabrics
I had this same problem with the main limiting factor being a compact bag that could fit both camera gear and my 11inch iPad. The Peak Design 6L every day carry sling was literally the only bag I could find on the market that fit my criteria. Really cool project! There is nothing more satisfying then designing a solution to fit your needs yourself. Though in my case it’s usually custom organizers and storage solutions that I 3D print.
Loved this video! Bag looks super neat and you show all the steps really well. Thank you!
mad skills son well done
Great job. Thanks
Wow man, you’re so talented 😦👍🏻
What a great bag, that looks so good brother. Your instructions were so good and I look forward to other builds from you
Greetings from Southern California, this is Alan.
dudeee this is awesome!
Man.... you're just good at anything you do. I just randomly stumbled across your instagram and decided to see if you were also on youtube. Ive got a lot of catching up to do but my goodness, youre an impressive human being! This is awesome, keep it up, youre definitely going far in this world!!!
Loved watching the process and of course the end product as well! Excellent work Miles! Love from 🇸🇬
Очень круто получилось, Майлс!
Ты даже продумал мамент с тканью, чтобы она отталкивала воду!
Я бы хотел себе подобную сумку, которая почти полностью была защищена от воды.
Нереально круто сделано, мужик! Держи✋🏼
That’s such a sweet bag. Thanks for sharing this video. Really enjoyed watching it and seeing this awesome bag come to life.
Dude this is so cool
