- During Mellisai mannar's composition,the scene will be too lively and those present there would be more active .His singing while composing and during rehearsal would definitely motivate the on lookers atleast hum .The legendary kannadasan used to request MSV for a chance .and its no surprise nadigar Thilagam is also bitten by this bug -mellisai mannar reveals in his interview to Prasar bharati.

One thing I am not convinced about here is MSV sir saying, SPB has sung for Sivaji Ganesan, KJY has sung for Sivaji..please tell me would the innumerable songs sung by TMS for Sivaji Ganesan have had the same impact, would Sivaji Ganesan's acting skills have been this visible to us. if those songs had been sung by SPB, KJY, ? The answer is a clear NO. I feel bad when these music directors don't acknowledge the effect TMS sir's voice had on the success of Sivaji Ganesan by enhancing his acting. TMS acted behind the scene.
It is, in fact, otherwise ! Let me narrate. TMS was a wonderful and versatile singer. I am also an ardent fan of legendary TMS, being myself also a Singer, if not professionally, since I could not concentrate/ indulge exclusively in music field due to family commitments and other responsibilities. In addition to singing through my own voice generally, I can sing TMS songs in his voice too, apart from rendering songs of other singers in their respective voice patterns. My simple question is that TMS had sung for so many actors, apart from Sivaji. but through whom he could attain fame and could get special identity throughout, right from Thokku Thooki ? Only due to Sivaji undoubtedly. [Sivaji gave very first major chance for TMS (8 songs !) when Sivaji already became a Superstar, prior to the entry of TMS ! ] In fact TMS himself revealed many times that he only got inspiration through Sivaji's amazing gestures and expressions for songs to sing accordingly and not as you think. There are even some songs prior to which Sivaji acted first and based on that, lyrics were written and songs recorded later. MSV and TMS themselves acknowledged this. MSV too told that he got inspiration from Sivaji's acting for his composing. Sivaji was unique, incomparable and completely different from others including handling song sequences. He was a total performer and complete actor. Nobody should forger the fact that even without a single song, Sivaji was able to attain creditable success in many films ! One should realise that songs are not a must for Sivaji. If songs are there, he will give life to any type of songs, by creating the magic that as if he only is singing that song himself ! He will act for BGM too, can act and respond for just female voice alone, for flute sound, whistle sound, for rhythms, for Bird 's chirping, nay, even for silence coming in between a song ! So, Sivaji only enhanced the quality of any song meant for him as well as the songs in which scope for his participation was also there, apart from his own lip movements. Also Sivaji will handle every song in a new way without any repetition, by imagining well himself and by differentiating from his past movies and a Singer (including TMS) cannot predict at all in advance as to how Sivaj will handle that song and react. So, this being the case for each song concerning Sivaji, a singer's expectation may not work out. A singer can only sing,of course with feeling and expression as suggested by music director. Finally, no singer could act behind screen through (singing) voice. That feeling and imagination comes to an audience only because visualising such a thing based on an actor's already performed scenes and by correlating them with a singer's voice. It is something like an already registered thought of a listener and a psychological phenomenon for any audience including you and myself. That precedence only create such impression. TMS born to. sing only for the. Great Sivaji
TMS and msv never got national awards for the singing and music .it is a surprise. Perhaps tms voice is appealing to Tamil only.
And MSV did music to commercial films only.
