I am just sobbing, just sobbing! I have been coughing like this for over 4 decades. It has impacted my life in so many ways. I have lost relationships, I can't see my friends very often all from this crazy thing. If it happens in front of children, their mothers worry that I shouldn't be around them. It's horrible. Nobody has been able to help me in ALL that time. Because nobody has understood it. I am going to send these two videos to my doctor. Let's hope she understands and helps me. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Finally, there is hope.
I traveled from Arizona to Illinois to see him. Amazing man, I cried when he understood what I had been going through. He said that many patients have reacted that way. 24/7 coughing is no picnic..
Jan McBride whT did he do from it with you?
Did he suggest u any medication?
please chew and swallow fresh garlic clove and wash down with water everyday. start 3 times a day. 24/7 cough well try anything. i have 14 year cough fits daily and garlic is only relief except opiates which is no good. wish you well Jan

Could you please give more tips and explain more about what the doctor said ?
Going to try the garlic trick though
oboy, this sure sounds like what I have had for years! so glad to find your video explaining this.
I am so glad that after decades of living with a chronic cough, I finally found this video. I asked my GP for one of the prescriptions mentioned in part 2, and my coughing was lessened by about 80-85% - to the point where it was much easier to deal with, and my quality of life improved dramatically. Thank you so much, Dr. Bastian!
Your comment warms my heart...all the best to you.
@@Laryngopedia Dr.Bastian, here's a key point. Gabapentin has similar properties as "flu-friendly" high-lysine such as eggs/dairy. ...Here's how: Gabapentin & lysine-foods & even honey/starches, thicken (thus tame) mucuos. In my case, the Gabapentin-thickened mucuous, upon being swallowed post-nasally, acts like waxy-balm. Note my brother and I both have SNC from having lived in forced-air heat houses & too much raw-onion foods & acids in childhood. But mine is worse from ongoing interaction with a difficult person. (She elicits shouting from everyone till their throats are raw.)
@@Laryngopedia P.S. York-mint-patties are very soothing. Also choco-candy made with Approx. 12oz. dark choco-chips, TB coconut oil, tsp margarine & tsp.corn-syrup. @@Laryngopedia Hi, thanks for your video. I have just come across it tonight, and I think this is what I have. I had a big episode of it whilst at uni in 2012 amd I put it down to anxiety. I ended up with a hiatus hernia because of the wretching. It has started up again in the last couple of weeks 😞.
Does it make sense that it is worse when I am on my own as this seems to be the case
Me too. I want it to STOP
OMG! You described my cough completely! I often feel like I have something Sandy in my throat...
Try smooth dairy or dark chocolates, York peppermint-patties and also Gabapentin & lysine-foods & honey & starches. They all help thicken mucuos, which helps prevent "tickle". Air-conditioning and forced-air heat & acidic/spicy/rough/chalky foods make it worse.

This is the closest description of exactly what I’m going through. My cough goes and goes suddenly for over 11 years now, I lose sleep, it causes chest pain, abdominal pain, urination, vomiting, headaches, watery eyes, leaking nose, it’s so annoying. People always assume I’m sick and offering my water
Thank goodness I don't do it while sleeping but I'm still coughing after 16 yrs...ugh!
My mom did for 55 years we both had pneumonia it started after that. Cellular structure gets damaged possibly from pneumonia or avirus around the larynx

We both have the same symptom. Because of this cough. I cannot be facing anyone but stay in the house. I am so afraid of going out or going to work. My friend and families stay away from me. I told them that I am fine but no reason why this cough is keep going on and on. I have tried many ways but never had luck.
He's right. I don't even want to move out of my comfortable spot because I feel like some nerves are going to get irritated and then I'll have some dry, miserable coughing spell.
I'm so sorry
Same i just want to move freely but i cannot.

I was treated by a Dr. Jonathan Pillow in Oklahoma. For 2 years my cough stopped using gabapentin. I was hoarse but gladly excepted that over the cough I have had since 1993. My son was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and lives in Houston, TX. Can you recommend a doctor for me to go see? My cough returned in January of 2019. My normal voice was back and the coughing was back. The doctors and staff frown when a person has a cough. I try to wear the masks but they cause me to cough more. I am desperate to get see a new doctor in Houston and maybe get my coughing stopped again. Please and Thank you. You will never know how happy your videos made me. Try Vicks vaporub just under your nose and steam. It gives some relief.
Same I hate it so much
Ok so I found out some ways that stopped my cough
One is try clearing your throat from time to time another thing is drink water and the last one is exercise, I went to the pool swam and ran around and I’m now coughing a lot less often
I have had exactly the symptoms described since I was seven years old. I am now 42. I remember waking up one day with a cough, although I didn’t feel unwell, and it never went away. It worsens when I’m agitated, when I change position, and sometimes even when I’m amused. It annoys those around me, and my attempt to suppress it for their benefit (and I suppose my own) has led to the emergence of various ticks. I had measles and scarlet fever when young and wonder if it might be related to these in origin. I must admit, though, that I have often thought it might be pure neurosis. It is nice to see that at least one doctor has given this some attention.

I'm 58. I've had a persistent throat clearing since I've been in my late 20's. I've always had sinus issues , post nasal drip or so I think. I've been to ents over and over they put the camera down and say looks normal. Migraines you name it. I've always said it feels like I'm drowning, my throat feels like it feels with fluid and I have to clear my throat often hundreds of times a day. Very annoying to me and those around me. Nobody believes me I've had people come up.to me In stores saying oh have you checked for asthma? I'm not short of breath, and clearing my throat so much makes me have a very sore throat. So frustrating. If this is the answer I will be grateful if somebody listens

Thank you Dr. Bastian for the useful video! It is the first time that some one can describe so precisely my problem. I saw wonder if you can know that some of you patients with SNC has been in contact shortly before their first signs with a pet suffering of Canine Distemper? Regards Dr. A. Angelov VMZ.
Thank you SO MUCH for making people aware of this. I have been experiencing this for over 15 years, had aggressive treatment for allergies, asthma, post nasal drip, possible GERD...all with no result. Scans of the sinuses and lungs showed nothing. It makes you feel like you're going crazy to go to experts who have no answers, at some point you think doctors think you must be making it up or something. It was only just suggested to me for the first time by an ENT and a pulmonologist that this may be my problem. I feel so relieved to finally have a possible answer. My doctors are even great doctors, but I think many are still not aware of this possibility. Seriously, thank you for these two great videos to educate people, you presented the information so clearly, thoroughly, and compassionately. Obviously you understand the huge, horrible impact it can have on people's lives.

@@SRF-vm3fy I started taking both Singulair and GABA supplements. (They suggested gabapentin for me but I want to avoid that, and the percentage of people it helps for neurogenic cough is very low anyway. Both gabapentin and Singulair have side effects to watch for, but so far the Singulair has only made me have vivid dreams, nothing else.) So not sure if it's one of those that's helping or the combination of the two, or if I've just been going through a "good phase." I still have a chronic cough, though, but it's not been as severe. Thanks for asking.
This is definitely what I go through
wow! This is such a well thorough account of Neuropathic Cough. I think I might have had something similar with added mucus. Been coughing for over 6 months. And just recently was diagnosed with Bronchial Spasms. albuterol inhaler worked for me.
Twenty five years with this cough. I been wrongfully diagnosed with acid reflux. Allergy diagnosis was wrong also. Mainly at night. Going from an upright position to lying down will trigger it also. Also, if I’m too hot that triggers a coughing spell too.
How are you going today?
When I get this cough I start immediately blowing my nose even though I don't feel like I need to. What I get is small amounts of watery drainage and after a couple minutes of continual blowing of my nose the cough stops as suddenly as it began.
I have been coughing since December 2020, visit GP several times, with no help. Went to see Nose, Throat and ear specialist, pay attention to a lot of money, still coughing. Thank God I came across this clip

I have had this since I was a teen and I am now in my late 40s. Doctors sent me for pulmonary tests, endoscope and I had a dental surgeon tell me it was because of my overbite interfering with my throat... I can't wait to show this to my doctor so they can help me...
I did all those test as well. nothing. There is no solution but it can be calmed down. In my investigation I learned damage to the cellular structure that regulate the phlegm has been damaged by a virus or pneumonia which I had. Go to an ENT. I had the pleasure of meeting this doctor after suffering (SNC) 20 years of violent coughing. I am currently on Gabapentin 100mg capsule. This doctor is a lifesaver. Through the years doctors have treated my coughing disorder like asthma, acid reflex or Gerd. They didn’t even re-search about (SNC) or maybe they knew about it but just wanted to keep me coming in spending money on Flonase, asthma medicine and expensive acid reflux medication
Any improvement for you so far?
I just discontinue using a prescription my doctor suggested she gave me Amitriptyline 10 mg. It came with a lot of side effects. I woke up one morning, feeling very depressed for no reason . I knew it was the medication. I merely discontinued it seeing all the side effects. The medication worked only for three hours, and then it tapered off, and I was coughing again. I am making an appointment to see a neurologist to check my nervous system. There is something clearly going on my coffin and it’s like a spasm. It comes and goes and at times yes it does spasm can get very violent to the point that my chest hurt. I feel like I’m gonna have a heart attack . I did get a chest x-ray and everything was clear cause I never smoke and I also did a lot of marathon running so I don’t have asthma. I believe that the problem with my coughing, maybe have something to do with my neurological system. I’ll keep you posted on the results of the outcome with the neurological doctor.

Well, this fits perfectly the cough I've been battling since I was a kid. It wasn't much of a problem in southern California, but when I moved to Portland Oregon, after a bad cold, it got worse and didn't let up until months later. How do climate and regional variations of air quality affect SNC? I'd like to spend a couple months or so in California, or Boulder, or other places I've lived before, to see if the cough goes away or at least returns to "normal" levels. But this is not practical :(
how are you today???
(Part 1 of 2) At our practice we do Botox injections into the larynx in approximately 20 patients each week, almost always for a condition called spasmodic dysphonia (SD). It is a great treatment for that disorder. By contrast, neuralgia medications seem to be the mainstay for SNC. Of the many hundreds we’ve treated for SNC, a significant percentage take other medications that seem to contraindicate these medications. If that is your circumstance, certainly no problem with a trial of Botox...
I live in north Louisiana and haven’t been able to find a doctor that does the Botox injections. When I was first diagnosed with LSN elavil worked great for me but now elavil doesn’t work.
Finally an answer to what has afflicted me for years.
So glad. All the best.
I developed this type of condition including many frightening and nasty sessions of laryngospasms 10 years before my first Parkinsons disease symptoms appeared. I have always believed there is a strong relationship between the two conditions. Things that helped me : exercises to keep my laryngeal muscles strong ; reducing stress levels as much as possible ; finding a sleep position which will not put stress on the larynx and throat
Please share the exercise

Glad you are getting help. A person can usually determine if gabapentin is or is not their medicine by the time they get to 1200 per day. Can go higher, but if no response at this sort of dose, their personal physician might move to another like amitriptyline or desipramine.
All the best. Call nearby ENT office and ask triage nurse if they handle sensory neuropathic cough. If you strike out, consider telemedicine with Bastian Voice Institute.

Oh my you described me to a tee. I developed a persistent non stop cough after my first ever case of pneumonia. It all started in Oct 2012 at first the cough was horrendous but as the years have gone by it has improved or maybe I am just getting used to. I have been on everyone of the medications your referenced, the first med I took was ORAP and that one stopped my cough completely unfortunately I had to be taken off of it when my LFT's skyrocketed, at that time I didn't know I had cirrhosis of the liver, prior to finding out about my liver disease I had taken the other meds you mentioned, they never completely stopped my cough like ORAP did but they did lesson the severity of them but just like the ORAP every time on went on one my LFT's skyrocketed. I had undergone many tests like you talked about and even had the gold standard surgery for my GERD which I really did need, I think that the reflux made the cough worse and limited the affect of the meds that I had been put on. The doctors were hopeful that when I woke up from surgery I would no longer be coughing but that wasn't the case. That surgery was in 2015 and it was at that time the liver disease was found. I just found out that I also suffer from laryngeal reflux and a mobility issue with my esophagus which I awaiting further tests to find out whats going on with that. I am extremely limited on meds now, I am currently compensated and am working really hard to stay that way, I am only 48 I want to get a few more good years in with my own liver. One last note I was diagnosed back in 2013 with a adult version of the PANDAS tic and the funny thing is my son missed half of his freshman year for coughing, once he was finally diagnosed with PANDAS which was caused by strep throat he was also given ORAP and after a few months his cough was gone. Anyways this is the first time I had heard that this condition could have been the culprit. I am so very thankful that you posted these videos I am going to have my doctors watch them. THANK YOU!
This is my daughter! It's driving all of us nuts. She has cerebral palsy, do you think that comes into play?
Wow, now I know my cough is something others also have. I have had a slight nervous tick (tensing neck) since childhood. During COVID, and I think because of sensory deprivation due to decreased human contact and because I have a slight post nasal drip due to allergies, my tick transferred to a cough. Sometimes I would be coughing all day (no lung congestion, not COVID). Now that lockdown has lifted some, my neck tick is back and the coughing is almost gone. I have not seen your part II yet, but what worked for me were ice cubes. Lozenges worked briefly, but the cough returned as soon as the lozenge was gone. Sucking on ice cubes gave my mouth something to play with and kept my tick happy. Also, the ice, I think, contracted my throat muscles and calmed the spasms. Also, the melting ice cube soothed my throat. Ice cubes are zero calories and almost free. Just be cautious not to chomp hard on them or you will ruin your teeth. Good luck everyone.
how are you doing today?
Sorry about your coughing. I caught covid last December. Once the coughing started I was experiencing the hacking cough 24/7 with only a minute or 2 break if I was lucky. Doctor prescribed some strong expectorant. A friend texted me about a possible way to stop the coughing per a link by a famous Doctor. We read the story and quickly obtain a steam nebulizer. He said 3 parts water and 1 part food grade Hydrogen Peroxide. I was worried about the HP. But I was desperate. We hook it up and turn it on. I was taking deep inhalation and holding it for 6 seconds each time. Inhaling thru the nostrils too. 10 minutes later my coughing stopped!
@@johnhurd3257 - Thanks for the tip. Sorry about your COVID. Most of my cough turned out to be stomach reflux. I had been reducing my Omeprazole down to 1 pill every other day, but my Dr. suggested increasing it to 2 pills per day which reduced my cough by 80%. I had been incorrectly thinking that if I did not feel the pain in my throat due to the reflux then I was all set. My Dr. told me this is not true and that you still get reflux even if you don't feel it. When you feel it, the reflux is at a high level. Seasonal allergies is also part of my troubles. The downside of Omeprazole is that you need some stomach acid to dissolve certain important minerals. I already take a multi-vitamin every day, but I also take extra vitamin D and Magnesium daily to help prevent bone density loss.
That's great your doctor found the source of your illness. Dr.Thomas Levy is the cardiologist that wrote the story about hydrogen peroxide nebulization. It seems it has a soothing effect on the digestive tract too. There's a lot of helpful knowledge but seems to be hidden because there's no money to be made by the business. Good luck with your quest to get back to normal.:)
God bless you doc. Bastian!.
Blessed day, doc. Bastian!. I am suffering from this cough or about a year. I figured it out my cough won't go away even though I took medicine Benadryl syrup for allergies and benadryl expectorant but still my cough didn't mend. It triggers usually when I feel hot, or dusty, when I ate spicy food, crackers, or when I laughed a little longer it triggers, and sometimes when I talked much. But I do not have phlegm or mucus not even runny nose. Sometimes it tickles, itchy, whatever food touches my throat then I began to cough and it's very embarrassing in front of others. then I search in Google for some information and I sought for cure!. I watched you and listened to your information about cough that won't go away. Do I have to take neurolgia medications? Do this neurolgia medications available in the Philippines? What would you like to suggest what medications would I buy that is over the counter for my cough? Thank you so much! I hope you understand! God with us!. 🙏😇❤️❤️❤️
I developed this pattern about seven years ago after a severe cold all other symptoms disappeared except for the cough! It became almost a daily thing….My coughing occurs the moment me head hits the pillow
Or when I eat cookies or chips
Or when I sing
Or when I get nervous or angry, the worst part is I started wearing pads then later depends because I cough do hard it caused incontinence😢
Or when I drink juice
It is a hard violent cough which hurts my chest like tiny needles or leaves me teary eyed it starts with a scratchy spot in the throat, there thin mucous but it seldom passes out the mouth
This sudden cough last from 2 to 4 minutes then just as sudden it’s gone y😮
He might be on to something🤔
(Part 2 of 2) BUT, with care, good oversight, and starting at very low doses, it's surprising how many can in fact take a neuralgia medication quite successfully. Some drug interactions are only "yellow," not "red" alerts, and we often try a "yellow alert" medication in low doses. I’d hate to give up on more standard, proven treatments if-heaven forbid-Botox doesn't give adequate benefit. (Consider this informational, not medical advice. Don’t act without input from your personal physician.)
OMG . This is exactly what I feel. I consult so many doctors from different countries with no help ..My ENT doctor told me I have to learn to live with this cough probably for the rest of my life because is nothing wrong with my troat.
Really interesting video thank you. I have the cough you describe - have had it for a few years, it seems worse after stressful days and if I release air/burp when coughing it is almost like a release. It improves slightly if I do yoga, and feels like the issue is trapped air in the stomach maybe combined with something around the thyroid. Just wondering if you’ve seen this before and any natural ways to improve
I would say I coughed about a 1000 times and probably dying
Slilppery Elm is helping me to expel the toxins in my lungs from the chemtrails. I'm going on 8 weeks of hacking. I sound like a smoker. I understand that the chemtrails include nano-size particles of fiberglass wrapped in aluminum that you can plainly see at 400x. I just ordered a microscope to check it out myself. I coughed into a paper cup, let the flem dry out, then looked at it with a magnifying glass and I saw a ton of tiny little things sparkling when I held it up to the sunlight. I can't wait to get my microscope. Then, I can monitor how much is there and try different things to remove it and watch and see if the amount goes down. If it's on my lungs, it's all over, including my brain and arteries. If it builds up over time in my arteries or brain, I could have a stroke. So, hope this helps anyone else out there who has this horrible cough that seems to never go away. There are things you can do to expel the toxins from the chem trails. I learned today the benefits of using activated charcoal powder to eliminate toxins in your body. Gonna start that tonight.
My niece is suffering from dry cough for last 1 month,, so severe during the day n a bit relieved at night. medication not helpful at all. Tried everything
*Exactly*
We are all dying very slowly
@@loriboyters4171 wishing U the best. Sounds like a horror show!! Hope it's something in the air we both can just get over!
U know what? I just wrote this January 2020! I didn't even check the year U wrote your comment. This was something though. If it's been years, I hope this is a much better one for U. Thanks for the information. Happy New Year!!
I found something helpful (at least to me). Placing a hot water bottle/hot pack compress at the back of my neck completely suppressed the ‘tickle’ and therefore cough immediately. Working longer term little by little too. Please make sure that you do not have it too hot obviously….
I will try this too. Thanks
Thank you, this information is so helpful. I just can't believe none of my doctors have e en come close to this. Which doctor should I tell my GP, Pulmanologist, Rheumatologist, Cardiologist, psychiatrist or pain management? Although they've told me to stop watching CZcams and stop trying to diagnose yourself. I feel a little liberated knowing there is an accurate diagnosis and answer to this chronic cough. Thank you again
Sorry to hear of your problem. It is common to search for years before "finding" this diagnosis. I suggest you read the materials found on www.laryngopedia.com. Put the term "cough" into the little search window and lots of material will come up. This open source article can be shared with your primary doctor...Otherwise, ENT docs are most likely to have come across this elusive diagnosis, since it was discovered and has been widely taught within that specialty more than any other.
Right now I have laryngeal sensory neuropathy due to blunt neck trauma. Taking medication such as Pregabalin (Lyrica) really help a lot since you may see improvement within a few weeks.
Omg, I'm live in the UK I've had this coughing problem for 30 years. It's so annoying and makes my life miserable.
How do you feel now?
I also have this cough for too long when I started playing with herbs iam much better .I can cough after sometime. I take ginger, cloves, thyme ,bayleaves, cinnamon, tummeric, cayyyene pepper and honey ,i drink this tea morning and night its really helping
This is me...Been coughing for years, with so many things triggering...Been to three Ear, Nose and Throat doctors, with no relief. My tickle spot is definitely connected to a nerve in my ear...Never in my life have I been able to put a qtip in my ear without coughing that cough...I'm not a doctor or nurse, but I'm diabetic and have been taking Alpha Lipoic Acid for diabetic nerve pain, every few days...Started taking it every day and I have to admit there is improvement.
I have the same trigger with the ear, to go along with coughing all day every day for 20+ yrs. How have things been going for you this past year after taking the Lipoic Acid?
@@gregmitchell2191 Taking a decongestant and ALA helps a lot...I noticed a spot in my throat where this insane tickle starts...Gently scratched it with an ice tea spoon....Seems to desensitize that spot for a while...This is a nerve problem and will probably never go away
@@icebutterflyms Thank you. I have had a camera stuck down my nose/throat so no lumps for me to scratch unfortunately. Any specific decongestant that you have found to work better than others?
@@gregmitchell2191 I've tried many, but have found Dollar General Mucus and Sinus PE to work really well for me, plus it's available everywhere. Don't live in town near pharmacies, so availability and consistency is a necessity
I understand and I will give an update also I'm trying to be hopeful since I don't do well with medicatons they seem to be my enemy, either allergic or bad side effects. Due to a very serious accident I've had 25 surgeries over the past 20 years my belief is having been intubated so many times it has effected my vocal cords. Treatment is on June 12th I will update soon after that. Thank you so much !!!
I had thus cough for years and it took years im 56 now, and December 2022, i was sent for a heart test for them to find a hole in my heart i could of had since i was born , my son 18 also has this same cough . I also have copd and emphysema, i want my sons heart checked he also sneezes , huge sneezes with loads of mucus , this has went on for months for my son but im just a paranoid mum , nothing to do with my years of experience. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. Blessings to you and your,s
I finally found out what my problem was it actually turned out to be a pulmonary embolism in my lung.
Omg this is exactly what I’ve been dealing with for 6-7 years now. Always coughing and nothing works to stop it. :(
What have u been using
Breath in and out heavy 5 min and also stay away from greasy oily food drink water and fruits
I been having thus since i was 21
50 mg of Tramadol in the morning only ... and 16 years of coughing after I had pneumonia ..no one talks about phlegm...I can cough up 1/2 to 1 cup at a session
Marsha Stolle what kind of cough did u have?
I have all these symptoms that you have mentioned
Thanks for your reply😊
I never heard of this and I’ve had it for couple years. Just last night I woke around 10 coughing so bad that my veins squeezed and was in serious pain and tired.
I get this from cold air usually and no cough medicine except the pearl small round pill helps me.
I had some horrible flu or something about 12 years ago, was freaking me out, I ended up having to stop by the local
hospital's ER which I was trying to avoid, they checked me out, MD just gave me "Tessalon Perles" which is that basic
strong cough medicine they dole out there, and that seemed to knock out the cough part of it, which was a horrible
wracking cough that was causing my sides and ribs pain. I was sore for like a week after this illness, which was otherwise
not serious. Over the past 13 years I've also had a cough from acid reflux, which of course, can come and go which is
very annoying. Taking Prilosec or Xantac will generally knock that out. I never smoked, but I was around second hand
smoke for years ages ago, alas.
Thank you so much for all this info, this is then likely connected to the laryngeal spasm that I have sometimes and I also wrote on the video you did about that. I have so many lesions on my brain (I wrote all about it on the other video). I had a cold in Sept, and since it got better, I don´t get rid of the cough and it can be SO bad even though I don´t cough for half a day, suddenly when I talk (too much) then it starts! And it goes on for so long and I gag, when I get the worst. Thank you again for all this great info, I got tears in my eyes while listening knowing that there is someone (you) out there that understands at least this part of all my neurological symptoms.
I was told by my pulmonologist that it was all in my head. Everyone who knows me wonders what’s wrong! Thank you for this description.
u r true, done every thing ,not cured, its all in head
Hi, I have had this since 1994, and I also have cough syncope. I was very lucky to have Dr. Peter Dicpinigaitis at Montefiore in NYC for seven years. He's the top researcher on chronic cough in the world, and he also wrote a med lit review on cough syncope. Do you think those of us who have this neurogenic cough need to also get video EEGs and cardiac workups to rule out other things? I have had both, but my syncope is worsening.
Thank you for sharing your video explaining this condition. I'm at my whits end when it comes to my cough. I cough so much that I just want to sit down and cry. I'm so frustrated. I'm sitting here now coughing so much that my whole body hurts. It's worse at night, especially when I'm in bed. I've been treated for allergies, asthma, and reflux. I've seen an ENT, a surgeon, a gastroenterologist, have had two upper GI endoscopies and nothing. No one seems to be able to help me, which is why I'm so happy to have found your videos. Should I see my ENT, again, and ask him to look into this as a possible cause of my cough?
+Olivia Grace Call the otolaryngology (ENT) department of a nearby university or other large medical center. Ask to speak to the triage nurse. Ask that nurse if there are one or more doctors there who have a special interest in neurological coughing. You may need to make a few different phone calls to find a doctor in your area known to have this particular interest.
If you can’t find any such doctors, you might also try calling the pulmonary departments of nearby universities or large medical centers. Or, alternatively, you might simply share the information you found about sensory neuropathic cough with your primary care physician and ask, “Could I please try low-dose amitriptyline?" (We hope you find that information helpful. Please consider it informational only, and not medical advice. Don’t act without your personal physician’s input)
try Gamapantin tab
Yes I had cough for 20 years and Dr. Bastians video, took the meds and is going well. NERVE DAMAGE to throat that causes it
can you tell me what meds i have been coughing now for 7 yrs
Hi everyone, I am taking Amitripytaline, alternate between 12.5 grams and 25 grams at night.Helps me sleep. When I got some side effects with my bladder I changed to Gabopentin, . I also have a Hiatius Hernia. I had a cough for 20 years. DR BASTIAN SAVED MY LIFE, my cough was RUINING MY LIFE
I finally received my diagnosis about 3 weeks ago after going through every test imaginable for the last year and a half. Because of other issues I have I will not be able to try the medications that are suggested so instead were going to try botox injections into both sides of the vocal cords, any thoughts about this proceedure? Thank you so much for these videos I brought this to my Dr a year ago and he finally agrees..
how are you doing today ???
This happens when I get any cold/cough illness. It is embarrassing out in public. It is painful at times and anxiety producing. It is sudden and violent. Can’t catch my breath. I am not alone!
Thank you for your expertise!! This is exactly my symptoms
April D bro do you have any idea on what type of shit my dad is going trough? everytime he coughs for like 7 times he completely like faints but his eyes get wider and everytime he does that ws have to like wiggle him so he can get back cus he just freezes all of a sudden
[TECHNO]AbSoLuTe- -Renz oh wow! I’m so sorry to hear that! You should definitely have him see a highly esteemed pulmonologist. I wish I would’ve done so. My mother died on 11/18/18 for not being able to breathe
