What if Botox Doesn’t Work for My R-CPD? | High Quality Injections
Rarely, treatment of R-CPD (no-burp) with botox fails to initiate burping. Why might that be? Is the diagnosis wrong? Was the dose of botox Inadequate? Was the target missed? Dr. Bastian explores these possibilities in this video.

Dropped Syllables? Catches in Your Voice? | Adductory Spasmodic Dysphonia (AD-SD)
zhlédnutí 502Před měsícem
A strained voice, usually with "catches" or dropped syllables or words, may be the result of a rare neurological condition called adductory spasmodic dysphonia (AD-SD). Abnormal muscular tone in vocal cords (laryngeal dystonia) results in abnormal vocal sound (spasmodic dysphonia). This video explains the disorder. Current standard of care is botox, which can dramatically diminish symptoms with...

Respiratory Dystonia | When Spasms Affect the Voice
zhlédnutí 430Před 2 měsíci
In a peculiar disorder of breathing, “respiratory dystonia,” tiny spasms in the vocal cords prevent the smooth in- and out-flow of air to the lungs. It is as though the air comes in or goes out in little pieces rather than in a unified inspiration or expiration. Quiet involuntary noises are heard from the throat, most often while trying to breathe in, and sometimes tiny “grunts” when breathing ...

This video is for those who fulfill four criteria: 1) They experience abrupt feelings of air hunger, with or without exertion. 2) Deep breaths in response to the feeling of "needing air" are not noisy and it doesn't take longer to fill your lungs than for the other people in your life. 3) Your doctors cannot find an explanation despite running a considerable number of "heart and lung" tests. 4)...
What is the Relationship between R-CPD (no-burp) and GERD? SIBO? IBS?

Often, and almost routinely, persons with easily-diagnosed R-CPD may initially be diagnosed instead as "gastroesophageal reflux disease" (GERD), or "irritable bowel syndrome," (IBS) or "small intestine bacterial overgrowth" (SIBO). Do GERD, IBS, and SIBO symptoms and findings point to coexisting and separate diagnoses, or are those symptoms part of the larger, umbrella diagnosis of R-CPD? Dr. B...

Tin Whistle Segmental Vibration of the Vocal Cords
zhlédnutí 1,1KPřed 5 měsíci
A squeaking or "tin whistle" voice can be evidence of nodules or other vocal cord injury of overuse. Background: normal vocal cords vibrate along their entire length even at very high pitch. When nodules or polyps stop vibration in the mid-cord, a tiny (usually anterior) segment may continue to vibrate, creating and equally tiny "tin whistle" quality. This video explains the difference between ...

Thank u doc❤
So useful! I wish vocal coaches and teachers would teach this
Thank you so much! But do keep in mind that this is a very basic approach. Vocal coaches and teachers would add some nuance and greater sophistication. But for basic strengthening, this approach often helps people a lot...
Hello doctor
Go on an on
thank you! this video is high informative
First to post
This is unintentionally hilarious.
I love informational videos like this that double as really dry humor
How bout nonstop burping 😢
If I had a cough drop for every grammatical error here I’d have my problem licked!
Can you kindly make a video about why people stammer and how to improve it
Is the treatment only available in America?
No, doctors all over the world are reported to have offered the procedure, several whom we are aware of are located in Europe, Philippines, and Australia.
How do we cure this please !? Thank you
Assuming a firm diagnosis of Abductory (intermittent whisper) spasmodic dysphonia, we speak of treatment more than "cure." and it is with botox injection into the posterior cricoarytenoid muscles. Typically 3 injections per year keep the voice functioning at a dramatically better level, though not perfect.
You are god sent ‘ this is me ! Thank you so much ! God bless you
I was doing this just last night, now I am In a mental asylum
:-) !!! Made me laugh!
Will doing these make my voice deeper?
Adding bulk to the folds by strengthening muscle would theoretically drop pitch ... but usually that is not as noticeable as greater strength and "body" more than lowered pitch.
Yup that's me
All the best in your search for a doctor who can help. Doctors most often versed in this disorder are laryngologists.

that explains a lot
My voice is so strong that I cant lower it to set the to the tone when I sing. HOW CAN I BALANCE IT?

Whenever i eat food with valentina hot sauce i can feel it in the vallecula, since valentina is decently thick for a hot sauce.
I have Presbyphonia, Will this help me? I have a vocal appointment to address this. I have been waiting four months for it. I used to have a strong voice but no longer. I am 66 years old
Everything depends on precise diagnosis, but if indeed the issue for you is bowing/atrophy of the vocal cords, then voice building (like body building) by challenging a weak voice to see if it can become stronger. If a good trial to strengthen voice in this way is insufficient, then vocal cord implants can be a possibility, but again, I'm making assumptions since there are multiple causes of a weak voice.
@@Laryngopedia thank you
Thank you so much!
1. Voice of authority 2. Ship ahoy 3. Siren Thanks
The title of the video is ambiguous. I recommend changing "Build" with "Strengthen".
We did already, but for some reason, CZcams is still showing the old title...
I feel irritation in my throat when try to speak aloud. I began to cough. What should I do then.
Hydrate well, and keep gently trying and increase loudness gradually as tolerated.
I am not seeing vedio because world are shown on screen
Some videos start with a screen of words. Keep watching?
That at the beginning sounds how i sound when i falsetto
I have one paralyzed vocal cord after thyroid surgery. I am more prone to these attacks. I absolutely hate these. They are terrifying when they happen. Vinegar is my biggest trigger. And talking while I eat or drink. If a tiny bit of fluid gets inhaled it begins. I think it is important to let people you are with know that you have them, and what they are. Otherwise you might end up getting the Heinlich maneuver. I wish there were a cure for this
Very good advice for those with laryngospasm to let those around them know to avoid Heimlich. I'd get very good at straw breathing and if laryngospasms are very frequent, your doctor might consider using use neuralgia medication like amitriptyline and gabapentin.
Powerful I listened the entire program
❤❤
Im on my fifth month now trying to weaken my voice, wish me luck guys❤
?
Thumbnail had me blushing ngl
Thumbnsil of the video confused me😂
This explanation, as given, makes no sense. It doesn’t make sense if it doesn’t explain how to use these ‘positions’; for example, the belting position could lead people to scream incorrectly, risking worsening the situation by straining the voice, and the same goes for the siren. It should be explained using examples of proprioception.
Thanks for your good comment. More nuance and "skill" in building up a weak voice is always preferred. But as I explained, this is a beginning for those who can't or won't take the time and expense of seeing a speech pathologist. Sometimes logistical challenges make this difficult for elderly patients with vocal cord bowing/atrophy. Especially in a large metro area with daunting traffic. And then consider this evidence: In suggesting this to many hundreds of patients across the years, I've never seen an injury. Avoiding injury is one reason I describe very short 1 or 2 minute) bursts of very loud voice. The other is that people get bored if you ask them to do long more nuanced voice building exercises. Again, thanks for your comment.
Why would I want a weak muscle?😅
Think of body building, where continual exercise of a muscle-say, in your arm-strengthens it. The same goes for the muscles in your vocal cords.
I had a botox injection about 10 months ago and ever since i can burp !!! Hallelujah!! 🙏 And this after spending nearly 40 years of my life without being able to burp at all… Each burp now feels so precious…… 😄👍👍👍
Hey doctor, i used to have a lot of gurgling but lately i have some small burps on a daily basis but i also still have the gurgling noises. Does this mean i am slowly getting the ability to burp?
It is possible for a person to have micro-burps but that are not completely relieving....
@@Laryngopedia and is there something i can do that will make them more relieving?
You are our hero!
God bless my brain
Thanks for your content Dr!
My pleasure!
Wouldn’t someone want to build a strong voice and not a weak one?
Think of body building, where continual exercise of a muscle-say, in your arm-strengthens it. The same goes for the muscles in your vocal cords.
Thank you
You're welcome
Decided to watch it because the title was confusing, fell asleep and read it right when I woke up. 🤦🏾♂️
Looks like a big old Bagina
What would you tell a life long no burper that had short term success with shakers exercise and practice but then over time lost the ability to have relieving burps? (I can now force a burp but they are more throat burps and do not necessarily vent the stomach)
There is no limit on how long one can try to learn to burp, but many find using botox to train the ability to burp is by far more efficient and effective. Follow your own lead...
Is it normal to feel some pain at the left side of the throat after talking for a bit?
No. If persistent, you should see your ENT.
Thank you so much Doctor. Big help. 😊🌻
