Congratulations. You are the only video currently on youtube with any PRO45 coverage. I enjoy your video and reviews. Thank You
Thanks for watching!
That's how they should all be sold. I was shopping aluminum axles for my SCX6. Plug and play, not a bunch of R&D, or more appropriately trial-and-error. I wish they'd offer aluminum options also.
That’s the secret of marketing. Put out a product that gets a lot of attention and sales then put out the upgrades. If I was a betting man when the Pro was gonna get released I bet there was an abundance of AR45 straight axles in the warehouse. Lol
😂 I despise their tactics. Now we have to house all the straights 😂
@@offroad1911 I don’t think it was a marketing thing at all to bring the rig to market with straight axles, they built and designed the SCX10 Pro around an employee’s scale comp rig that ran straight axles. Coming out with the portal axles as an option part was an answer to make the Scx10 Pro compete better with Vanquish’s VRD Carbon pro rig that comes with portal axles.
Pretty awesome you can buy them complete and not have to piece them together
Nice video. Thanks for sharing bro. 👍✌️ Both options straight or portal should have been sold from the start imo but where is the marketing in that.. right?.. Tricky move from Axial but hey thats how marketing works..
I’ll have to get a set and see if they will fit the element platform.
It can probably happen, but will certainly require some tinkering.
How are you going to fit thru a gate??
What is the measured width? Gates are 12”
I love portals!!! What are you running for electronics and tires. Thanks Greg awesome video.
Thanks for the great vid!
Do you have numbers of how these compare to the ”normal” AR45P axle dimensions?
Caster especially.
Eyeballing the set of ”normals” I have designated to a comp build and they seem to have abt. 10deg caster.
(Edit. Is it 12deg?)
The new ones seem tempting😄
I was so disappointed in the axial option parts for this rig. Mainly the aluminum motor mount. The fit is awful and introduced a TON of end play to my spur gear shaft, and the bearing pockets are just a hair too large. I had to shim the heck out of the shaft to take up the end play and so far I haven’t had a problem with the bearings spinning in the mount. The stock plastic motor mount fit better with no silly shimming for proper fit.
Awesome video
Thank you for this Video.
Does anyone know, when these axles will be available in europe ?
The whole reason I sold my pro was because of the street axles three days after these came out
I just shipped out my pro the other day and sold it because I was not enjoying the straight axles. Damn.
I don't want to run a panhard link set up with these portals. Will I be able to run a four link set up?
Yup, They give you the mount. I ran the 4-link in this video.
@@rcdriver thank you so much and really love all the content in your videos. Cheers!
Is it feasible to just change the rear axle?
No need to change transmission gearing?
Would scx10.3 outters make a poor man's portal upgrade, minus the wider stance?
will the gearing stay the same
Are they different then the capra axles?
Of course look at pictures and replaceable parts! Many many differences
Are the pro portal axles narrower than capra axles?
Did you delete the video about the turbo racing mini semi truck?
Moving it to the second channel that has the other Turbo Racing review. Should be up shortly
How long has it been since you started writing for RC Driver magazine? I think before the days of brushless, 20+ years?
I started writing for RC Car Action in 1992 and was hired as a full-time Editor in 1994. I left RCCA for the opportunity to start RC Driver as the Editor-in-Chief. I was at the helm until the publisher closed the print magazine. This year is officially 30 years in full-time RC media.
@@rcdriver Damn 30 years! I was only 14 and didn't know anything outside of toys r us or radio shack lol.
@@95666And I got into RC 7-8 years before I started writing for RCCA. 😆
@@rcdriverThat's crazy, you don't look old enough.
@@rcdriver Hey Greg, I remember picking up issues of RCCA back in the day. I loved reading about the crazy bling builds you and Kevin Hetmanski would come up with....good times, good memories 👍
How much?
Will this fit the regular Scx10 also? I don’t have the pro version
With alittle work you can get any axle to fit may have to play with links and panhard but it can be done
@@xr70man thank you! I was kinda thinking that.
Yup, as mentioned, it can happen, but it’s not a drop in and will require some tinkering.
Tinkering is key. A painful one at times 🤣
Tinkering is why I love this hobby!@rcdriver
😎😎👍👍
These are really nice but overpriced by about $60. For $160 bones I would've at least expected SS portal and diff covers not chintzy plastic.
I don’t think they’re over priced at all. Heck a vanquish F10 portal axle with an all plastic housing is $140 for a front and $120 for a rear. And even to buy some AR44 straight axles is going to be $155 for a set. Building a set of Capra axles or TRX-4 axles is going to cost you $150 or more. I think they strategically priced them right on the low end of what a set of portal axles costs to put together for a truck.
Are these like the Capra axles? Wider than stock regular axles? Great vid as always!!
13.6mm wider than the standard Pro axles but not as wide as Capra axles, so no crazy offset wheels needed
