    The GoPro HERO 11 is one of our favorite action cameras yet because of the impressive built-in video stabilization, how easy it makes it to start capturing great looking 4K Ultra High Definition video clips underwater, and how compact and well suited for travel it is. It can also snap photos with point-and-shoot simplicity.
    This guide will walk underwater photographers and video shooters through everything they need to know in order to equip, set up, and use their GoPro HERO11 successfully while diving, snorkeling, and freediving.

    My compliments on a fantastic video. I really learned a lot and appreciate the downloadable cheat sheet...already laminated and in my camera case. You were clear and thoughtful in how you presented the options and limitations of the camera. I am transistioning from a traditional Nikon UW camera set up to GoPro for ease of travel and because I just can't see as well as I used to justify purchasing a new camera system. I just purchased the GoPro 11, filters and lenses from Backscatter and received wonderful service and super fast shipping. I was thinking of setting up two housings, one for filters and one for lenses, since I didn't want to have to deal with changing setups on a boat. Rob gave me great advice and I purchased the threaded filters to fit on the mount. Not only did it save me money, but it made better sense. I have purchased lots of underwater camera gear over the years from other companies, but this time I felt like a valued customer at Backscatter. Now I know why so many people visit your booth at Scuba Show! Happy Diving! Elissa

    regarding the photo preset in the end I made some tests. The photo quality is way better, when using the wide raw setup, taking advantage of the raw quality and just crop out the round corners at the end. Tested it with the +10 close up lens on hero 10 black. Got a final resolution of 4866 x 3244 Pixels.

    One question about the Color temperature. Would a fixed color temperature not have advantages during Shootings in different height with magenta or red filter? With Auto it’s always changing by the camera - a correction by the depth would not be possible (snorkelling vs 6m or 12m). Or is the correcting so good that it’s a low brainer. Audi and forget and then the filter pending on the light?!

  • @Audionovels888
    @Audionovels888 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Hi, I wonder if you guys did the actual test hero 11 with the case underwater? The overheating issue sucks.. and it causes moist on the case. though it will neutralize given after 15-20mins. so removing the case is the only option if you want to continue shooting. But the risk of without the case when you go deeper underwater.... I do hope you had included this on your guide as well for other users of hero 11 be aware of.

    Great video! If I haven’t any extra lights, and I’m going more than 24m, you suggest to keep the deep red filter? Or just remove it to capture more ambient lights?
    Thank you!

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  Před 6 měsíci

      It really depends on how bright the ambient light is at that depth. The filters will reduce the amount of light for the camera, so it is a balance between low light (more noise) with the filter or bad color.
      We recommend using lights to overcome this.

    Very useful video. I've just bought GoPro 11 and I'm going to record my dives next week. Two questions regarding settings: should I change White Balance to warmer colors (for example to 4500K) if I don't have an external filter? Additionally, wouldn't it be better to change Color setting from "natural" to "vibrant"?

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  Před 8 měsíci +1

      You're better off leaving the white balance to auto when diving without a filter. The 'vibrant' color setting boosts contrast and color saturation, which can also be done in post without "baking it in" to the footage, which is why we prefer 'natural.'

      It is highly unlikely that your ISO will reach 6400. As long as you are close to your subjects, your video lights will give you a good exposure. Should anybody use this video for GoPro 12 - it is now possible to rename the custom presets via the GoPro Quik app

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  Před 21 dnem +1

      Yes, we are very happy that you can now name your preset with GoPro12. All the settings are the same with a slightly different menu layout

    Great, but the "secret menu" works only, if you have the front monitor activated (hero 10 black). If not, it doesn´t work!

      @backscatteruw  Před 6 měsíci +1

      True, the front monitor must be activated.

    I live in Europe and I will watch the video's in 50Hz (?), but I will make video's in country's with 60Hz. Does that matter? Should I shoot in 50 or 60 HZ? Ans thx for the great video, I really like the explanation.

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  Před 8 měsíci

      Recording in the 50Hz setting is probably better because that is the standard where you will primarily be playing the media.

    why can i only choose the fps options: 200, 100, 50, 25 and 24?

    • @backscatteruw
      @backscatteruw  Před 10 měsíci

      Because you have the Anti-Flicker setting set to 50hz instead of 60hz. Go to 12:43 for the location of this setting.

    Hey Robin- Finally upgrading my Hero 5 I’ve been rocking since 2016. I purchased the tray and flip 5 from you back then. I have an 11 on the way. Will I need the flip 11 on the new dive housing or will the old flip 5 attachments work? Thanks

      You'll need the new Flip 11 to fit on the new housing. Thanks!
