      Sculpting steel comes back to your hand if you make a copy of Spine of Ish Sah and sacrifice it. With a 1 mana reduction in cost and krark-clan ironworks in play, you can wipe every permanent on the table

  • @ChannelJjordo
    @ChannelJjordo Před 3 lety +3

    After spending hours fascinated by the idea of making the Mirror Of Fate / Osgir combo work I am now proud to announce you can pull it off with a measly 13 mana:
    To start you need:
    - Osgir, the Reconstructor on Board
    - Key to the City on Board
    - Mirror of Fate in Hand (Or in Graveyard)
    - Ugin’s Nexus in Hand (Or on Board)
    - The ability to produce 13 mana every turn (or less if your artifacts cost less / reduced costs of activated abilities)
    Turn One:
    - Cast Ugin’s Nexus (5 mana)
    - Sacrifice it to Osgir, it will put itself in exile and you’ll line up an extra turn after this one (1 mana)
    - Discard Mirror of Fate to Key to the City
    - Tap Osgir, exiling it from the graveyard and making 2 token copies (5 Mana)
    - Tap and Sac one of the Mirror of Fate token copies; put Ugin’s Nexus and the real copy of Mirror of Fate on top of your library in any order
    Turn Two:
    - In your upkeep pay the 2 to draw with Key to the City as it untaps then draw for turn, you'll have both combo pieces back in hand
    - Repeat combo infinitely, you are now exactly where you started except it’s cost you 2 more mana than the very first time you started a turn with this combo (which is why we needed to untap with 13 Mana) but you also have an extra Mirror of Fate token artifact on board, therefore, you can repeat this process for infinite artifacts.
    Moreover since the infinite artifacts you’ve stockpiled are copies of one of the combo pieces, you can now safely remain infinitely cycling your turn with one less card and 5 less mana. Simply return each of your lands to the top of the deck every turn with the Ugin’s Nexus and then return any card out of your exiled library that you want.
    - Simplest win from here is to play enough creatures to run down your opponent’s life totals with infinite combats but I personally I think it’s a lot more flavourful to go for infinite damage buffs with Ashnod’s Altar and Osgir sacrificing Mirror of Fate Tokens or jamming an extra turn with Hellkite Tyrant on board

    • @ChannelJjordo
      @ChannelJjordo Před 3 lety

      Actually, come to think of it, you could cast the Ugin's Nexus the turn prior to starting the combo, making the first turn cost only 6 mana, then use the extra free Mirror of Fate Token as combo piece for the 2nd turn so that you don't have to reanimate the one you'd normally have returned to your deck/hand with the first Mirror of Fate activation.
      Instead, you could return a basic land card, making turn 2 cost 8 mana but having provided you with 1 of it.
      Turn 3 you’d have to return both pieces and cast them together so it’d still be 13 mana to combo but you were just supplied with 1 mana for free so technically you get to start comboing off a turn earlier? As in, start the combo with only access to 12 mana
      If you’d returned a Sol Ring, Ancient Tomb or Thran Dynamo or something like that instead of the basic land you could potentially do it starting with even less but it’d depend on what you had left in your exiled library to play

    • @MikeSpaulding0585
      @MikeSpaulding0585 Před 3 lety +2

      You have Ish Sah on the board along with a sac outlet. Your cost reducers brings Sculpting Steel down from 3 to 0. You cast it for 0, copy Spine (already on the board) and destroy something. Sac Sculpting steel (which will return to your hand since it's a copy of Ish Sah. Cast it again for 0, rinse repeat.
      Triggered abilities that trigger when a permanent leaves the battlefield do so if the permanent had the ability just before it left the battlefield. In this case, just before the Sculpting Steel dies, it had the ability of Spine of Ish Sah, so that ability will trigger, returning it to your hand.

      When the sculpting steel (that has copied the Spine of Ish Sah) is sacrificed, the 2nd ability will trigger when it goes from the battlefield to the graveyard, and will return it to your hand, even though it's no longer a Spine of Ish Sah. @@NitpickingNerds It works alongside something like Paradox Engine and Mystic Forge to let you re-clone any number of mana rocks to generate infinite mana, and then re-clone literally any artifact in your deck. Because Mirror exiles your deck, subsequent Mirror activations can literally let you put ANY 7 CARDS from your entire deck on top, and with Mystic Forge and infinite mana you can just assemble any combo, and even reassemble it with token copies thanks to Osgir.

    • @Dupernerd
      @Dupernerd Před 3 lety

      So for instance, if you have 10 mana available (at least part of which is non-lands) + some way to draw 1 card (such as an implement and a sac outlet) then you sac the first Mirror and put on top Mystic Forge, Paradox Engine, Sol Ring, followed by any other mana rocks you want. Draw and play the Mystic Forge, then play the Paradox Engine off the top. From here, playing the mana rocks untaps all your mana rocks and Osgir, so you can start using his ability to clone mana rocks and generate large amounts of mana, finally using his ability to clone Mirror and put all the exiled mana rocks (and the original Mirror card) back on top of your library. This loops to create infinite mana, and infinite Osgir and Mirror activations, which means you can stack any critical mass artifact combo on top and play it out.

      @@NitpickingNerds Ah, fair. I mean I'm going for a semi revamped designed to abuse treasure tokens with improvise mechanic and tap to reduce cost of other artifacts and or tap to burn not to sac for mana. with a double token mechanics plan on going wide. Not to mention mana rocks (Artifact rocks that sac themselves for draw just to come back out again? sign me up!)
      Honestly though, when I look at it I see another concept that isn't being broadcasted, I mean.. What is boros known for? Attacking? I mean even in his first ability its a pump. So why not use Artifact equipment and double up on the best ones that give dmg increases.. Break the bank versions with all the swords? low equipment is low cmc? no need for the huge value this commander gives? so idk maybe a blightsteel (Even know you can't sac to double it) it's still a huge 11/11 beater.
      Honestly my biggest issue is I can't figure out what direction I wanna ultimately take. I know I want to do something boros is specifically good at doing.

    Honestly I don't understand the MDFC land cards - you cut down the number of creatures (even mention it multiple times in the video) to just put in two cards dependent on the number and strength of your creatures, otherwise they are just bad cards. Please go much, much slower on these sections (maybe separate vids?). show the cards, explain how they tap - impact the next, then back to the first, showing how the infinite effect builds up (maybe showing as a third anim the treasure/impact damage - whatever) s l o w l y.
