Got one of these to commute in, driving 80 miles a day in a Tundra was killing my wallet. I love it. It's not great at anything, but it's good enough at everything. 34 mpg 20% City, 80% highway. My tundra would get 15-16 average. So this thing is literally more than twice as good on gas lol. Did the math and itll only take 2 years for this to pay for itself in maintenance and gas savings compared to driving my truck every day.
best car ever. I just got rear ended badly in mine so it's totaled. On the the hunt for another one immediately after I recover. Never ever getting rid of it.
Very good review, I agree with all you said. I've owned a 2006 xA for just over a year. It's a Toyota. Good vehicle. And yes it does most things well. Most people think mine is ugly, or cute. But it's not cool. LOL, but neither am I. I'm 61 years old, I use it mostly for commuting, but it's also a blast to just run around in. I put very good all season radials on it and unless we get buried in the snow, I do get around quite well. Yes buy one if you find one. Because who needs a $60,000 huge pickup truck?
Good find! I have a manual 2005, and I was happy it got to 100k a year ago. Twice as good MPG than the Tacoma I got this year. And that latch cover on the hatchback. It is SO rare to seem them not falling off!
Nice. I just put a Chinese/amazon airhorn special in my 05 xA. The trumpet on the horn is 18 inches and sits behind the grill almost down to the base of the front bumper. It is so loud! I love it for those folks who sit and text after the light turns green!
Great buy. U don't see them selling here in my neck of the woods. Lots of great things I have seen about these cars. They run for ever. Great buy. Lots people who are into sales have these cars. Xa. Xb and XD. Wasn't a fan of the XD
Great cars. How Much? I just picked up a 2015 XB, only 30k miles, purposelessly selected a Manual because I prefer them. I’d like an XA as a Manual, much more fun and a bit better efficiency, but you are absolutely correct that Toyota makes a strong automatic. Most do not comparably.
Lol I found one of these with 150k and the 5spd manual, its still perfect to drive though. Might get 200k out of it, might get 300k! With the engine of the Echo, 400k+ stories are already out there... We'll see what's up in a few years lol, but it's cheaper than any toyota. Makes NO sense.

Nothing will run forever. But these are extreamly reliable cars if you maintain them. I've seen many with over 200,000 miles.

Jay Martinson I seen them over 300k miles. They do run forever. This xA’s 1.5L 1NZ-FE are bullet proof engine. And so does the transmission

nothing does run forever but i've seen them 250 plus and run like nothing, mines is currenty 176K and runs like new.

I don't know about the other years, but the 2006 Scion xA has an input for an iPod. You could probably attached an iPhone.

Yeah, you have alot of head room in there. It's a small car, but on the inside these tall hatchbacks are really roomy.
