    Once you've got a few chords down and are strumming away happily enough you'll probably want to start fingerpicking. Here's a short video to help you on your way.
    More info on this lesson over at ukulelego.com/tips/ukulele-fin...
    In this video I look at 3 finger fingerpicking, I'll create another video for the 4 finger method shortly.
    The ukulele I'm playing in this video is an Ohana SK-25 soprano.
    Apologies for some of the editing - my son decided to have a conversation with me about Minecraft half way through filming.
    If this video helped you it would make my day if you'd subscribe to the channel.
    Finally you can find me in a few other places online…

    This was mind blowing for me. It finally clicked how the uke was different for me. I play piano, violin, and guitar. They all have a progression of low to high, both in position and sound. Watching you made it so simple to understand the uke has a high note each end. Fascinating moment. I’m glad to have found your video. Thank you.

    • @UkuleleGo
      @UkuleleGo  Před 7 lety

      It's all about setting realistic goals and working towards them. If you have a few chords and strumming patterns, work out what's just beyond your reach right now and work towards that. Maybe that's more complex strumming patterns or a little bit of picking like in my video.
      I'd probably recommend grabbing yourself a book and working through that alongside anything else that you're doing. The beauty of a book is that it will have a clear, defined program working towards a goal.
      I hope that helps you!

    • @woodygeo5162
      @woodygeo5162 Před 6 lety +2

      The best advice I can give (from personal experience) is to play with others as much as possible. Join a U3A Ukulele group, or a local pub - they will welcome you with open arms! Sitting at home with a book is boring, anti-social and will take you a lot longer. In the meantime try playing something like "Stand by me - Ben E king" just play the first verse - NO MORE THAN THAT TO START! Use a strum that fits this song very well such as DDU-UDU. keep it slow and do not try anything else until you nail this verse. Its like paying the mortgage off it will feel so good and once you have one song under your belt only then move onto others - it will then be a lot easier - good luck - enjoy !

    I get really frustrated watching random beginner tutorials on youtube because everyone says something different. You say thumb is for 2 strings, other people say it's only for 1 and to use the three other fingers too, and I don't know who to believe, and I don't want to be taught wrong from the very freaking beginning

    • @UkuleleGo
      @UkuleleGo  Před 4 lety +1

      They're both legitimate, in my opinion it's easier to start with using your thumb for the top 2 strings and your index and middle for the bottom. What I would say is try both initially, see which one feels the most natural and go with whatever feels right to you. Once you get comfortable with that one, you can learn the other way too.
