I got a new Realistic Wheel for Sim Drifting!

- Unboxing and testing the new more realistic steering wheel. This one is bigger and is the size of actual real life steering wheels. Swapping the wheel on Moza R5 base was easy because they have quick releases. We organized a drift session in Assetto Corsa to put the wheel to the test. You do need to pump up the Force Feedback a little bit because the wheel is bigger and heavier. Quality feels insane, will be 100% keeping this wheel.

Ebay handbrake is surprisingly good though, like they're just cheap Chinese handbrakes with a hall effect sensor and magnet. they work fine and are virtually indestructible (assume this handbrake works exactly the same though finish and everything is probably better)

@@-73- They're just real handbrakes without the cylinder, nothing to break. If something is squeaking oil it, mine came greased.

That is not a camouflage effect... That's carbon fiber. The second pair of shifters aren't for shifting gears, but can be used as a dual clutch so that you always get the best launch when in high revs
it isnt carbon fiber it is carbon in a layout that makes it look like camoflage

Moza has the best bang for buck setup by far! The new wheel looks really nice!
Pretty sure Moza R5 will be my next (and last) upgrade, currently using the trusty Thrustmaster T300, shifter and T3PA PRO pedals, no problems for the last 6 years but that MOZA R5 is screaming at me, I NEED ONE !!

The extra paddles are the clutch. Used in some open wheelers.
usually f1 for the starts.
Also would be perfect to have indicators and gear shifting with that setup for highway racing

The 4 paddles are for sim racing so if you have a dual clutch transmission you can launch better at the start of races and is just useful all around for shifting.
The paddles are used instead of a clutch pedal, the transmission you would use them on are not dual clutch transmissions.

@@BigMacAttack83 Yes, but it‘s a little complicated. Here‘s how I managed to do that:
1. I created the design of the handbrake in Fusion 360 (CAD Software)
2. I measured out my mouse and created a base for it so it stays in place and doesn’t slide around when drifting
3. I printed all the different parts an put them together.
The handbrake works like this: By pulling the lever, the left mouse button is being triggered. Then I use any software to map the left mouse button to a keyboard key. I then assigned this key to the handbrake in game.

Stabbing the box really helps to tenderize the cardboard and tape so that it releases the juices that hold it together.

I'm confused by your wording, are you saying Thrustmasters shifter is the best you can get? Because that's clearly not the case. The Fanatec is better, so is the VNM, and I've even heard great things about the SHH.

The reason you have 4 shifters behind the steering wheel is because in simracing people use the bottom levers as a clutch. If both levers pulled together it means that the clutch is fully engaged, just like it would be when you press a single clutch pedal. Next, one of the levers is released while the driver pushes the accelerator, with the remaining lever keeping the car right at the bite point of the clutch, allowing the car to start moving. The driver then slowly releases the other lever for a smooth launch, making it almost impossible to let go of the clutch too quickly and stalling the engine.
Looks clean. Btw pretty sure you can change the blue light into your rev limiter

Moza should make an h pattern/ sequential like thrustmaster and fanatec (edit they did now)
Sometimes in forza, you don't need a handbrake when you have a subaru. All you have to do is when you come at a corner, brake and turn the steering wheel quickly for it to work
double padles is for clutch to do standing starts in racing better and yeah more feedback is reasonable for racing, cause of more details and overheat possibilities in endurance racing

That doesn't look camouflaged at all. Carbon fiber is that. To always obtain the optimal launch while in high rpm, the second set of shifters may be employed as a dual clutch instead of moving gears.

I would definitely recommend getting the R9 base as it’s not even 100 euros more and you will get 9nm of torque max (vs the 5nm of the R5) which is much more versatile if you want to do open wheelers or cars with no or less power steering. I got a CS wheel and a GS GT wheel along with it and that is what i would say is needed to not feel like you need something else or something more powerful.
More motor isn't just about strength, it's about FFB detail. R5 is a good deal, but 5nm is slightly anemic. If you can afford it or save up for another couple weeks, R9 would be a better choice. Just run it at a lower percentage of FFB strength.
Or Simagic Alpha Mini. They've got a nice budget oval/drift package now, tested at 13nm peak.

I had that wheel with the R9 base, load cell pedals, and handbrake with the fanatec shifter. It was an amazing setup! Wish I still had it. :(

It is in general. But it's actually all pretty well priced for good quality direct drive setup that's as compact as that is. Wish I could upgrade.

The reason you would want a more powerful DD base is not necessarily to have a wheel thats harder to turn, its about the detail of the FFB. The more headroom your motor has the finer the details it makes, so if you are in a turn and the base is near its peak torque, you will not get as detailed of feedback than if the base was farther away from its peak. My simucube can do 25nM of torque, but for most games I don't allow it to go over like 15, which gives the motor 10nM of headroom to still have fine details come through even if its already near the max torque of 15nM I set.

The bottom paddles on the back of the wheel are double clutch for launch control.

For racing, you can just get an R9, 4 more nm - almost double torque. And it’s only 70€ more than the R5. I’ve heard that even for drifting it feels a little better. But I don’t have a comparison. Either way, the entry moza bases are great value and quality.

i have an r9 with the RS wheel. but I got a Vertex drift wheel and it feels so great to drift with or rally.
