  • I gearchecked five different sets of strings. Same type (roundwound), material (nickel on steel), same gauge (45 - 105) on a very special instrument from Eye's Bass Guitars. There's quite some differences in tone, feel and overall impression.
    Here is what I reviewed:

A lot of effort goes into this comparison. A lot of work . The result seems to agree with my observations. Thank you very much and keep up the good work

Great analysis as to the string compositions, feel, and off course your demonstration of how they sound. I wish more bass players creating this type of content followed your approach.

This is very informative video for giving us information that is rare in this kind of reviews, and that is how most common and relevant brands of strings behave through the time. I wished to write a comment with my experience, and then I saw that dear Ove is no longer with us. I feel very sorry for that. But for the sake of the viewers and admirers of this channel, I will write that the last set of strings I bought were GHS Boomers, and they got old very quickly, and this is not the worst. The worst thing is that they have aged unevenly, so the A string has lost much more freshness than the others, to the extent that it can no longer be considered the same set.

I feel like ghs are great but I feel like there is not that much clear Low end on the E string but they feel amazing
I guess the best pair of strings would be ghs with the rotosound E string

That bass sounded amazing. Until the rotosounds popped up. I‘m shocked.

Hi Ove, how many "playing- hours" do you ca. spent for the Strings after 1Day/1Week?

Hi Mudfunk! During the process of shooting the video, which was about 6 weeks, I played this bass a lot.
I practiced and teached with it. So it might have been 25 - 30 hrs per week.
