Opening The Coffin Of King Richard III

- One of the most notorious Kings to reign over England was King Richard III. He has been portrayed throughout the centuries as a man who murdered his nephews so he could take the throne himself in a huge power grab during the Wars of the Roses. Richard’s reign did not last long as within 2 years of his crowning he would be lying dead on the battlefield, being slaughtered by the forces of his enemy Henry Tudor. Richard’s story has been one which has been muddled with legend, however the true facts about his brutal death were uncovered when his remains were discovered under a car park in Leicester in 2013. But what it showed the world was that the last Plantagenet King of England died a horrifically barbaric death on the battlefield and he suffered a number of earth shattering wounds particularly one which was the fatal wound at the back of his skull. But what happened when the grave was opened and when the King’s bones were discovered?
One of his two remaining ancestors, Mr Ibsen is a cabinet maker and built the coffin Richard III was buried in at Leicester.
A remarkable experience for him.
I watched his memorial service and reburial yesterday. It's very moving. The knights were shining in their armor, as were their horses. A beautiful ceremony.
Shame young Edward v & prince Richard can’t be giving the same pomp & circumstance or any kind of recognition to lay their souls to rest

I think it would be nice to see Edward v & young prince Richards souls to be laid to rest in the same spectacular manner as Richard iii!
Lindsay, if their adult bones are ever found, they'll receive a nice reburial. The bones in the urn are not theirs.
@@Moose.-vy5ye Don't be so sure! They might be, or the 2 coffins in the family tomb might be? I, like you, believe that they were 'sent away' and that Perkin Warbeck was Prince Richard.

@@rogerfielding1117 indeed. It was a great documentary. Google brings up loads of interesting information as well. The title of the video is evocative and analogous, so therefore is not necessarily inaccurate.
Why, in the very least of this video of fiction, are you using a known Tudor era altered portrait of Richard?
Also, Richard's remains were discovered in **2012**. The skeleton was confirmed as his in 2013.

Note to captioner: It’s Henry TUDOR, not Henry Chudah, and Tudor Dynasty. Also . . . I’ve always thought that actor John Lithgow bears a remarkable resemblance to Richard III.

Just me, No. Richard III had scoliosis, not kyphosis.
There was turmoil during the War of the Roses. I doubt the Tudor period brought more. England was brutal. It didn't care for it's people but for power. It would be considered authoritarianism today. Those two CHILDREN that Richard III imprisoned and disappeared under his reign never caused him concern. Not for a second. So, Richard was as much of a monster as others.
He never looked for those who murdered the children of Henry VI, his blood relative. He threatened the future of England in many ways.
I'm glad he got a decent burial, not that met a brutal death he brought to others he was supposed to protect.
It's amazing how whitewashed the history of his reign has become. The excuses, denials of his responsibilities is what fascism is built upon.
Dalestaley, I strongly suggest that, unlike this video presenter, you read some history books on Richard III. Your post indicates that you believe thoroughly discredited sources, such as Thomas More and Michael Hicks.
I completely agree! It would be nice to see some service or spectacular memorial for Edward v & his younger brother Richards souls to be laid to rest.
To blame Tudor propaganda for anything that paints Richard iii in a bad light is ironic considering there’s a whole society & fan club dedicated to romanticising this man & clearing his name.
Anyone who thinks differently is insulted by his fans assuming that the only information & research regarding Riii was obtained by reading Thomas More, Polydore Vergil or Shakespeare.
I think you should look into Buckingham and Margaret , the mother of Henry Tudor for more evidence about the disappearance of the prince's in the tower.
@@Moose.-vy5ye No, I agree with Dalestaley. The children were disappeared during Richards reign and although Richard was pious and believed in hell, he was also a soldier and was brutal in his execution of warfare. He also had Hastings killed without trial, so no, Richard was not all angelic!

Well that was 9 minutes wasted, not even a mention of what was found in the coffin when it was opened, oh, but there was no coffin discovered was there, so a lot of word salad about nothing
