My favorite thing about this song is the series of beeps that jumps in at the pre-chorus (from the line ‘have you ever known me’ onwards in 0:46 ). It’s simply beautiful to listen to, they’re like an army of neon jelly beans bouncing up and down, and is a melody I love on repeat. It’s especially more prominent in the instrumental version.

it's called a lead-in , it helps establish the new instrument coming in the next section, and is a cut from the end of that instruments sequence, makes it sound less robotic if the instrument/sound came in at the very start of the next section.

This song reappeared out of nowhere tonight! What a song! I remember when this came out. Around that time I went to this fashion party in an old church near Great Portland Street in London and got drunk with my friend and suddenly Róisín Murphy walks in all decked out and I shout ‘Hey Róisín!’ and she turns around looks at me and shouts ‘Who are you?’, smiles and walks off. Amazing. Haha.
