Lyrics:
The saddest story ever told
The perfect Glory
So all alone
And I could love you
Til kingdom come
I might not deserve you
But save you from
The saddest story ever told
Loving only
What you behold
In your own reflection
When love is here
All your pretension
I hold you dear
The saddest story ever told
Narcissistic glory
To be all alone
And I could show you, listen what I say
To feel real love is to give it away
A happy ending would never be
Narcissus dying
Be in love, be in love, be in love, be in love, be in love with me, Narcissus
Rosebud
Narcissus touch me reach out your hand
Oh if you fall in love with your own reflection like it was planned
You would die in love fading to feel or to understand
That only I can give
Narcissus, I the nymph
The rosebud
Narcissus see me turn into sand
If you fall in love with your reflection you may be damned
But darling I could teach you to feel and understand
Narcissus my love, thy love Echo

#RoisinMurphy #Narcissus #OfficialVideo - Hudba
I'm Italian. In the late 70's Raffaella Carrà, very famous Italian showgirl, did lots of videos like this for her great success. This video bring back so many memories of my childhood. Same outfits, same hair, same special effects. So cool and psychadelic! Music is different of course. Carrà's songs were more simple and fun (some almost stupid). But the same energy and style! I love it.
I lo e Raffaele carra
Thanks for sharing this Roísín is bringing cultures together 😭😭
Raffaella Carra is my spirit animal
In fact this is inspired on Raffaella's "Black Cat" Performance 100%, Iconic.
Yep. This is very Carra.
I genuinely have never seen an artist release music for nearly 30 years and continually bring me joy, excitement, and genuine enjoyment. Róisín is truly incredible. Please never stop.
This woman is a genius.
indeed!
you should better read who is genius
@@geengenee You mean you can be a genius only if you're a scientist? It's genius to us, you don't have to agree.
Oana Puha I mean you are genius if your name is J. S. Bach
@@geengenee omg do not make it a thing.
Her taste level is like no other. Always bringing some weird, unexpected angle, very enjoyable.
The rosebud part gives me the chills!
Her voice and taste is everything.
And her eyes...body.I love her😁
I'd be honored if some Roisin Murphy fans would come by & take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of 80s/90s standards on my YT channel in tribute to the genius songwriting of the era. Raw acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Thanks and peace out.
1 one the coolest ppl I ever seen
This sounds like it should be a 70s disco classic.
Something about her voice brings back such a comforting familiarity.
I knowwwwwwww
Roisin Murphy + Alison Golfrapp + Robyn + Kylie Minogue = Pop Dance Perfection
Las Mejores
Little Boots too. :)
also Madonna Confessions Era

@@jtarantula3390 Yesh!!
Love this modern disco she’s putting out!
was there a category called "Nu Disco" ?
RAFFAELLA CARRÁ!!! Una genia, amé el vídeo.
The mark of a good singer for me is when you hear the voice you know instantly who it is. Roisin is one such singer. Her unique vocals, without having to be overpowering, are a joy to the ear. She's given us some great tunes for over 25 years now and it's a shame she hasn't reached the full recognition she truly deserves. Her days with Moloko in the early 90's showed her potential & I would always say investigate those years if you don't know them.
Her love of dance music can never be denied of course & this very Daft Punk sounding video version of 'Narcissus' is yet another blinder to add to her ever increasing catalogue.
Grace Jones, similarly, made some fantastic music in her early career but was never totally appreciated as such until, I would say, she sang outside Buckingham Palace for the Queens Golden Jubilee. Hula hooping, no less, in her 70's through her entire version of 'Slave to the Rhythm'.
Roisin will have her defining moment one day I'm sure. She's one of a kind & long may she reign!
R Smith damn right
Cult star 🌟 sounds good to me too eric.
I'm a narcissist.
@@michaelguerrieri3815 In todays world almost everyone is more or less - part of the huge problems we have nowadays ;)
Fantastic! Miles ahead. Greek mythology goes disco. Need a XXL version.
Hercules & Love Affair did it ;)
@@BlackiceLORD Can you link it please!!
Uzair J. Sherwani misunderstood.
I mean that H&LA did it before mixing dance and Greek mythology. First album artwork.
Disco is a fit with this "Narcissus"''s tale. Lyrics are just great and remind me of the oldest (so said) Homeric Hymns.
I'm gonna tell my kids she was a very famous artist from the 70's.
lololol amazing. i wouldn't even flinch if someone told me this was truly an original 70's disco song
they will respond: no, daddy. she's a cougar born in the 1970's.
And 80’s.
She only became famous in the 90s when the Moloko was founded (1995). She was born in 1973.
@@wyrwijsienet
I think they're talking about this being a pastiche of Raffaella Carrà's style.
It was a pleasure to choreograph and be involved, the song is stun!
Ahhh, aren't you one of the dancers involved in the videos for the x4 promos for the Maurice Fulton last year?
@@muthamucka8119 no sorry.
Congrats Joshua, being from Italy I wondered if the coreography and Roisin's look were paying homage to legendary italian showgirl and show host Raffaella Carrà
You absolutely KILLED it! What an excellent collaboration!! I hope Roisin takes you all on her tour!!!
I just adore Roisin..from the start 🥰
Not a single song is a "filler song" they're all genius and artists now can't hold a candle to this!
True 💛
At this point, she is my favorite artist ever...
Yeah right never let us down all these years
Agree
Agree too
I love how consistent she is with her artistry. She always brings something new to her craft. Rock on Roisin. You're one of my favorites.
When I made my boyfriend listen to this song, this was the first thing he said: "She's consistently good. A real artist."
probably one of the best basslines ive heard in a long time.
Looking at you and hearing your music always cheers up my soul
Roisin is...
The Queen Of Modern Disco.
If you don’t know Roisin Murphy did Raffaella Carrà, one the greatest italian singer, disco diva of the 70’s and 80’s and a gay icon ✨
Roisin Murphy is single-handedly saving Classic Disco!
Roisin thank you for existing and making magic 💕
💕💗💕
some woman are just gorgeous without even trying xx
DISCO FOREVER!!!
Inspiration: Raffaella Carrà - Black Cat (Ma che sera, 1978)
Amazing, I love it
the background definitely looks similar to the "Black Cat" video; the ever changing lights of a (discotheque) dance floor (back in the 1970's Disco era)....
its true! the hair, the outfit, the dance moves, the backdrop
love both ladies, respect
Bloody hell this is a song for the ages…
Better than anything on the radio
'to fear real love is to give it away' damn
Great video, great sound, great song. Great Roìsin. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
i love Roisin since 1995
who can possibly dislike anything this creative and talented artist releases? this song is everything!!!!
Good question! I do like very much her interpretation of Narcissus's tale, but I do not like Narcissus, nor Disco. I am very bothered choosing thumb up or down.
Disco will never die
Roisin Murphy and Robyn are the ones who will save modern music and pull it out from the awful state is in today 🙏🏽
You got it right. She will really deliver with her new album 😭❤❤
I'm not too sure about that. Have you heard Robyn''s new song?
Robyn is crap compared to Roisin
@@quillber
They're just different in sound, but they're both considered two of the best in the game.
@@davidadams2395 Fair enough I just feel she's very overrated
If her and Robyn ever collaborated 😩 that would be scary good
this takes me back to '05. Classic.
I know right it's like confessions on a dancefloor had a baby with Supernature and Ruby Blue had sex with it.
Back to the 70's with Roisin!
The Brilliant Disco Queen of our time!! Brilliant Roisin!!!
80s
Greece loves Roisin
Love
Like Raffaella Carrà 🇮🇹 ultra cool seventies mood! Róisín goddess🆒️
I had the same thought. I think the director took inspiration from Raffaella Carra's "Rumore" video

How good is this!!

THIS IS PURE DISCO-FUNK 💎
& I LOVE THE BEAUTIFUL VOICE OF ROISIN ❣️
This Lady is pure talent
The Rosebud verse is to me one of the most elusive set of lyrics written. I sometimes cry when I hear it its so deep and well written. I think Joni Mitchell would be proud of it. The story of narcissus is a great one, truly the saddest story ever told. It's also so old there are several different tellings of it based on slight variations in copies of long lost original texts. Roisin seems to be mixing them around slightly for artistic purpose. to me the meaning refracts like a kaleidoscope so many possible interpretations. Roisin the name means "little rose", Rosebud was the last line used in Citizen Kane to signify the last time he was innocent, or the John Waterhouse painting "Gather ye Rosebuds while ye may", based on an even older poem from the 1600s. The poem and the painting are about Persephone not narcissus, however the flowers she was picking were narcissi, named after narcissus.
Hold my hand and don't look down luv u
Funky bad beat. Adorable. Brings back amazing times from when this sort of music was first being played
She is such an underrated icon. I love her.
Bringing back disco one song at a time

Love the ”Sweet” haircut.
And don’t get me started on the choreography!
