Description: We left a few minutes late to record this siren, and they have a history of testing early, so I was afraid we would miss it. However, we made it. I didn't wear earplugs, as I didn't expect it to be loud, although the high-pitched squeak was very loud. This siren went off on time, at about 11 AM. - Zábava
I didn’t think a ATI siren could sound that good
Me neither now that I know what it sounds like
@@2minniegirl you just heard the Westminster.
@@Extremelybadpiggies you never heard that whelen tornado sirens never spin around?
Well this is the tornado siren that replicates it's whelen rotation
@@mrwtuber1217 Yeah it's mostly just a cheap Whelen vortex

It’s the amplifier that makes the sound, just so you know
what a nice alarm clock

peany It would be nice as a alarm clock
ati is underrated it gets the job done
Keaton0801 actually ATI’s Alert signal isn’t that high pitched anymore. I’ve seen some thunderbolts that are higher pitched than it
Elizabeth_958 still a beep, no windup, and still annoying as hell.
This is such a peaceful tone. Imagine if it plays during a tornado warning.

if you did not know its used for tests

Dang! ATI Westminster Chimes are so freakin BEAUTIFUL!
I know right
i agree it is amazing to see
The only thing, make it dual tone!
It’s still cool to watch though. It certainly would not make a good warning tone.
@@emrilbennett8704 it's more of a test tone used to avoid unnecessarily scaring everyone.
For all those people:
Westminster Chimes are normally played before an announcement, or for a test. Not an Emergency (tornado, Air raid, Severe weather, etc..).
Just wanted to make that clear.
Thank you for cleared the misundersatnding. I thought it is the emergency, turns out just for test.
At my local beach area, they have the Westminster Chimes at the end of a tsunami warning.
This is the most wholesome siren I have ever seen/heard. I've heard Westminster Chimes on sirens before, but this one takes the cake.

all sirens do that
@@teiaboynton5295you are incorrect sir
Yeah.
sorry i was just sleeping🥲
@@teiaboynton5295 Well, only electronic sirens that has the capabilities and the Yamaha music sirens. The others can't
- As you can see, I have wires going from my head and connecting to the rotator box
- Let's hope you don't choke on them.
AAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
this ati is way better than the old ones. the one thing that bothers me is that the rotating head is not equipped with a collector ring and brush system (CRABS) in the rotator box. i mean come on! FS put collectors in their sirens, so did ACA and ASC! why can't ati and whelen do it? it's pretty simple. for the most part.
It's because of the wire on the back. If it kept going with changing direction, the wire would bust, making the siren useless
love this chime
Me too I have never seen a siren do that before now I know
These chimes are probably some of the best i've heard after the Whelen WPS-4004 chimes and the dual tone Siratone chimes

This is the nicest siren I've ever heard. it's like: "Hello folks good evening to you. Just an FYI there is a tornado on the way and it would really mean a lot if y'all would go ahead and get to your safe spots okay? Margaret Baker ours here is like the last part of your comment lmao!
It's just used for testing if the siren works. In an actual emergency they use real wails

Siren has been replaced with a Federal Signal 2001-Equinox as of January 2020. Most of the ATI's have been replaced.
Wait HAS IT?
@@hmsirensandfirealarms yep. He's not wrong. I seen it on my maps. It was replaced with a Equinox.

also its an equinox not a 2001
Why did they replace them? Were they not noisy or did they work poorly?

This, and the classic siratone 16 note chimes are my favorite.
Wow! This is the first tornado siren which chimes "Westminster Chimes!" How stylish! All the other ones I have heard are frightening or creepy sounding, especially the ones with the automated human voices that accompany the siren sounds.
kenpalmer1965 this is definitely not the first siren to use Westminster chimes
kenpalmer1965 to my knowledge, the first siren to use Westminster chimes was the EOWS series of sirens

That is pleasant-sounding!
I never seen a Tornado Siren that doesn't rotate 360. I'm so used of sirens rotating 360. I've always seen sirens that rotate 360 lol. Great video!
Whelen wps that spins also doesn't spin 360
It’s a very relaxing chime
I kinda like ati because it's gotten better over the years

What on earth? AtI?
This is where my mom grew up :) I'm so glad someone finally got a video of their sirens!! (even though it's an ATI) When does Medford test their sirens? and you should also check out the Allertor in Abbotsford, just 10 min south
It said in the first few seconds of the video.
Lol this is the tune the clock plays when it srikes a new hour
I love this this relaxes me
What was that high pitched frequency noise before it sounded?
that's sounds hell of a nice siren
chris marku until you hear the alert signal, I would rather kms than listen to that for 3 minutes, just an annoying high pitched beep. Ati didn’t even try to make it sound good.
Mean this? Thats one hell of a nice siren
@@bitchlasagna4720 ...
This siren has a pleasant Westminster Chime compared to others.
I agree with you
Ur right
Also why did it have to rotate back to its original spot after it stopped going off?
I have never hear of this on siren before it sounds really good
me neither i was thinking wow that is amazing
So peaceful
This is what plays after severe weather and tests
does this thing have an aux input? can i blast my mixtape through it? but seriously, ive always been curious. are these preprogrammed with the tones or something else?
I was recently looking at both yours and Aaron Nepstads Wisconsin siren map, just thought you should know, rib lake also has one of these along with a Model 5 that I assume is inactive.
Looks like the wire or cord keeps getting wrapped around the lower part of the head!
Most sirens have a system where the siren can rotate without that wire and still make sound, this is called collector rings. Neither this siren nor some similar models by a company called Whelen use it, so it can’t rotate more that 360 degrees without stopping or snapping the wire.
Actually, the old whelens like the 2000R and 400R can go 360,guess it’s just too much money do add them
it did not go 360 to me

The father of the whelen vortex r4
OMFG
@@gordonfan2769 I am a tornado siren. Not ur girlfriend
Whelen Vortex oh, well maybe you don’t understand. Vortexes are my favorite sirens of all time since I grew up with them. There’s one by the school I spent most of my childhood in, I call her “ Mama “ for she has a finback and she was installed before my first year at that school and has always been there for me and she still is. Every Vortex would go off in attack/fast wail. One time I lived in a house that was near a fire station. Another Vortex was standing right by it. Every time severe weather came to our city she’d go off in that very tone that scared me and my brother as kids. I remember standing on top of the toy chest upstairs remembering the frightening noise she makes. I was so young I decided to attempt to imitate her by trying to make the same sound because why not.
That’s how I know the Vortexes I grew up with inspired me to be a “ Whelen “
And be a enthusiast just like my brother.
Whelen Vortex and by the way, I’m a girl. LOL
Bro, THIS IS *SICK*
best of the best, thank you
What was that high pitched squeak for? Was it the radio tones that activate it?
Most likely
ati sirens always do that
ThePanda all ati sirens do that before they activate. its the stupid cheap sound cards that come with it activating.
I think its telling you that the siren is activating
Fuking cheap sound cards. at least i dont have them.
Me: mom are those the tornado sirens?
Mom: No, that is just the city clock.
*10 minutes later*
*gets hit by the tornado*
Ight imma stop there
Westminster Chimes are normally played before an announcement, or for a test. Not an Emergency (tornado, Air raid, Severe weather, etc..).
Just wanted to make that clear.
Why does it sound like. What signal is it supposed to do??
Why do they do the Chimes instead of regular warning signals?
I swear, this is perhaps the most disturbing thing to listen to when upon the commencement of The Purge.
Nah man if this played when ur home alone and it's e in the morning BRUH I WOULD MOVE OUT
Siren can't make up it's mind on which way to rotate LOL
Theres a string attached to the back of the siren which goes to the pole on the right under the siren which that doesn't rotate So with that string or whatever makes it so it has to go the other way.
It's supposed to be a joke
+MKE Aviation And Elevators It's the audio cable for the speaker drivers in the siren head. The cable is directly attached to the speakers so the siren has to rotate back and forth because if it didn't, the cable would break.
Yeah, people take jokes way too seriously these days
+Rachael “mariomario0321” M You just can't come up and say a stupid thing and expect everyone to understand that it's a joke.
"Who's at the door, Tommy?"
The tornado
Y do they give the chime is it a nicer way of testing it?
I love this siren!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Layne Gallacher Yea Me To
Layne Gallacher. Same
That’s ironic as so many people hate ATI’s! I honestly don’t mind these and like them
Sounds like a higher pitched Federal Signal chime.
I couldn't think of a more haunting tune to hear just before my house and life is about to be destroyed
Would it do the Westminster signal if it was NOT a test or is that just for testing?
Beautiful sound and great video, I just miss the ground shaking of the old Thunderbolt.
No
This is creepy

@@jaxixteen not that
This is so beautiful
Are those chimes only used for tests? And do they also use these chimes during real emergencies?
Calming everyone because they're all going to die!
Shut up siren kiddie
Ok
They normally go off for amber alerts
Westminster Chimes are normally played before an announcement, or for a test. Not an Emergency (tornado, Air raid, Severe weather, etc..).
Just wanted to make that clear.
If they tested our sirens like this in Omaha Nebraska, I wouldn't mind listening to it, but they don't, so I run and hide.
That ATI is looking happy with the chimes
I wouldn't mind getting killed by a tornado with this song.
a tornado siren test? this sounds like a giant doorbell. it's way too casual for a tornado siren. it needs to sound serious like others.
For testing they use this, but they use a real tornado siren sound when it's the real thing. That way when people hear this signal they know it is not an emergency.
ATI HPSS-16R + Rainbow Painted Federal Modulator 6024 = A BABY SIREN!!!! LOL
