  • Hi guys! In today's video I wanted to talk about my experience as Business Administration major at UCI. I was admitted as freshman and recently graduated in December 2019 and just wanted to share my experience at Merage. I loved my time at UCI and hope you will too if you're a freshman who is thinking of attending.
    Check out part 2 here: • UCI Q&A + Tips for Bus...

    For someone transferring into UCI businesses admin from community college, would it be uncommon for students to finish their education on time (in 2 years?)

    • @claudiuhvuu
      @claudiuhvuu  Před 4 lety

      Hi! I never met a transfer who was unable to finish the bus admin program in their 2 years. From my understanding, administration gives you guys a lot of support to ensure you graduate on time.

      Hi Chelsea I’m a 2nd year BA major. I had online classes last year 😑. The classes so far have been very easy. Only challenging one was accounting but it’s far from impossible to do well in.

      I think the first step should be to not have any expectations. Don't think it'll be too hard or easy ! Take the classes as you go and try to focus on right now. Also understand that talking to your professors is really helpful. Make sure to do all of your work as soon as you get it and practice practice practice. You are capable of anything and everything I hope you do well!!

    Do you have to apply to the Merage School as an incoming freshman in order to major in business administration from the Merage School?

  • @manavpatel2591

    i got into UCI for Business Administration and wanted to know how challenging the major is at UCI and how easily you can register for classes each year. A friend of mine says it is very impacted. Could you give me your experience and opinion?

    • @claudiuhvuu
      @claudiuhvuu  Před 4 lety +3

      Manav Patel hi! I personally didn’t think it was too challenging. I felt like my work load was significantly less compared to other majors but I will say the calculus, finance, & accounting classes were pretty difficult. I also felt like business admin students have an easier time getting classes because our major is smaller so there’s less people fighting for spots but for someone who ISNT in the major, it would be difficult because they would have to wait for the major restriction to lift then fight for the classes. It is impacted to switch into business administration but since you’re already in the program, that shouldn’t be a problem for you. Sorry if that was confusing at all 😅

    Hello! So I am a criminology, law and society major and I want to double major in business administration at UCI! I have completed some of my prerequisites at my community college for the major however I have no done them all yet. How hard would you say is it to get the double major/ major change

    • @claudiuhvuu
      @claudiuhvuu  Před 4 lety

      It is pretty competitive to pick up the business administration degree at UCI as the major is really impacted. I know they only accept ~10 current students to transfer into the program a year and the application is focused heavily on GPA rather than a personal statement but it’s not impossible to switch in!

    What are your thought of the business information management major? I'm currently doing cs and I realized how much I hate it lmao

    • @claudiuhvuu
      @claudiuhvuu  Před 4 lety

      Omar Zaifulizan BIM is a really good major if you’re trying to get into product management of tech consulting but is more CS than it is business. If you’re interested in working for a tech company but doing a business role, being a business major with an information systems emphasis is just as effective and less stressful imo.

    Are the study abroad programs for the business majors expensive?

    • @claudiuhvuu
      @claudiuhvuu  Před 4 lety +1

      Nicole Sanchez The price of programs is not necessarily based on what major you are but what country and length of program you do (semester vs summer long). I would recommend going to the Study Abroad Office on campus to learn more about it! I know Merage has a International Residential Program specifically for business majors that started 2 years ago where you get to go abroad for a week for around $2-3k but be sure to ask your counselor for any further details about it. :)

    Do you think the degree is worth? Can it really help you to land a job?

    • @claudiuhvuu
      @claudiuhvuu  Před 4 lety +1

      Personally I think it is worth it. Merage has many resources to help you get an internship (job newsletter, career center, networking opportunities) but I will say that there are equally as many opportunities from LinkedIn and other external sources that can make you just as successful.
