    Cool work.
    When I was a young kid of 8 back in the 1980's , I made one of these ships with some wooden dowels and a ping-pong ball for the sphere.
    The original drawing was one of the Matt Jeffries designs for the Enterprise and was pictured in the book "The Making Of Star Trek."
    I like how you have the 2 shuttles on either side of the bridge.
    That's something I don't think anyone has ever done before.

      Its a Deadalus Class and you are quite right-it is based on an early design by Matt Jeffries for the Enterprise but is now a canon 22nd Century vessel.

  • @mutantsdad
    @mutantsdad Před 19 dny +16

    I always felt that the NX-01 should have looked more like the Daedalus class. I never liked the modified Akira they went with (a lazy decision in my humble opinion). The Daedalus looked a century older than the Constitution, yet still gave us the main hull, secondary hull and warp nacelles that the later design had and using the Daedalus would have been a nice tip of the hat to Matt Jeffries.

      I really wanted the computer on Enterprise to communicate on printed tape, like in the pilot of TOS. It would have been awesome to have a show about the future be deliberately based on outdated technology, just to be consistent with established canon. And that prequel could have another prequel showing how Khan took over 1/3 of the world in the 1990's...

      My thoughts exactly. It sucks to see all the flash & dynamism added by fans to the simple Deadalus class❤, while people in charge of “canon” just found an easy way out and called it a paycheck.

      @@ReconViper1 for what i know (not canon info) the dedalus was build after the enterprise. Because they their technology wasn't too advanced to build big ships like the nx class in mass in a short period of time, because of this during the Romulan war they decided to keep using more smaller ships like the delta or neptune(nx delta) classes which were more easy to build and more easy to improve their systems and technology, but also during this time they decided to experiment a little with new designs and that's how they ended with the dedalus.
      This is not canon but until we get a canonical answer it's an excellent explanation on which most of the people that i know are okay with.

    @johnray1956 Před 15 dny

    Everyone is right, the shuttle pods is a pretty sound design feature. Having crews walk all over the ship just to reach a shuttle on a critical mission doesn't make sense. having two shuttle bays connected to the bridge allows for larger evacs overall.

    @bobsterclause342 Před 24 dny

    Woah. Most modern version.
    I can see once outdated designs having not only a roll, but being made viable with hangers and things.
    You need you city ships that take six proton torpedoes at low sheilds to take down said sheilds (galaxy class) but having a bunch of vesels that can send shuttles and roundabouts

    • @keyboardt8276
      @keyboardt8276 Před 24 dny

      What do you mean by 6 photon torpedoes at low shields?

    • @MrRurounismc
      @MrRurounismc  Před 24 dny

      In my fan canon the Daedalus class was a pre-romulan war design, once the war began United Earth found itself desperately trying to produce more NX class vessels, but the NX class vessel is basically top of the line, expensive. So they start a new project to retrofit and build new Daedalus class ships, the Calliope subclass is specifically a Daedalus with a cheaper version of the NX's Warp 5 engine, brand new phase canons and photonic torpedoes as energy shields (I assume at this point the NX has been retrofitted for shields), but these are the cheaper production model components, not the top of the line components.
      The vessel is also equipped with nuclear missile launchers, the nukes being powerful but crude and cheap weapons. United Earth needed SOMETHING they could throw at the Romulans without bankrupting the planet.
      So that is what the Calliope and her sister ships represent, Romulan War era Daedalus class ships, sporting the production model version of the technology the NX01 and her sister ships pioneered.
      These werent as strong as NX-01, but they could produce 10 of these for every NX.
      Anyways its just fan canon until we finally get a Romulan war miniseries or something.

  • @BlazingOwnager
    @BlazingOwnager Před 24 dny +1

    Isn't the shuttle bay in the rear of this class, not the sphere? Great job though. I only know that because I'm playing an RPG game that uses it's schematics. lol

    • @MrRurounismc
      @MrRurounismc  Před 24 dny +4

      The ship has never actually been depicted in canon aside from a few models so I felt free to take some liberties, in my version the year of the ship is taken up with nuclear missile launchers, and theres not enough room for a rear mounted shuttle bay.
      My goal on this was when I needed to invent something I looked to the NX-01 for inspiration, and it has very similar shuttle bays, unlike like the big rear connie style shuttlebay, and looking at the design I all had all this flat space up top... it made since for at least -this- sub class to have its shuttle bays there. Its quite possibly even in my head canon other sub-classes have different shuttle bay configurations!
      I love this era of star trek though so your RPG sounds fun!

  • @mikevanroy9356
    @mikevanroy9356 Před 16 dny
