- I give a quick review of my GatorTrax Retractable Tonneau cover on my 2016 Sierra. Retrax is the name of the other one that looks to be manufactured by the same company.

Very informative review with a perfect level of detail. Almost looks new after 4 years. Considering this for my new Silverado 3500HD. Thanks.
If your not doing it already I strongly suggest that you keep that cover waxed. I use Turtle wax Ice spray wax which will protect the cover from the UV rays of the sun. Eventually the Lexan cover material will deteriorate and then start cracking. The wax will greatly extend the useful life of the cover. Mine is a Retrax cover and even keeping it waxed it just started getting some cracks and that Lexan is as thin as paper. 8 or 9 years sounds about right if you keep it waxed.
303 works great at protecting the cover.
Thanks for the info! I’m about to install one myself!
Thanks for posting this ! Its very helpful! I just bought one!
Needed this. Thanks man
Thank you so much!! Helps justify that bigger price point vs other tonneau options
Thank you.
nice review. i had a retrax (very similar) that lasted 21 years...
I talked to GatorTrax and they told me Retrax is who makes GatorTrax.
Any issues with it leaking when it rains?
Just ordered the "Gator MT Tonneau Cover" for $10 more hope it is the same if not better at keeping the water out. The one you have looks & sounds great.
I still love mine. Without a doubt the handiest and best-looking cover I have ever had.
Question? What the difference is between the Gator Trax, Gator Recoil and the GatorTrax MX ?
The Trax is plastic. The recoil doesn't have a key lock so it is only operable by lowering the tailgate to access the latch. The MX is aluminum
Edit: the recoil is also aluminum
i think this is an excellent product but my truck bed is 5' I can't sacrifice the room.
Completely covers your stake pockets right ?
Yes
How is it with keeping the bed dry on rainy days?
It does really good. With a normal downpour no water inside the bed, if it is very high winds there might be some find its way in.
I really like this cover, thinking about getting this one.
Hey it’s been
How’s it holding up
Thank you
Its still doing good.
They say it holds upto 400lbs evenly distributed.
I haven't stacked anything on mine but yes they say that. I think that is only for the Aluminum version so if you get one and want to put stuff on top get the aluminum.
How's it hold up in a car wash?
Holds up well. No problems with car washes.
