Imma just go ahead and say it. Been saying it since we picked him up, but Amik Robertson. This dude is gonna be a problem for opposing teams. He is small but fast and physical. He, at 5’9, shut down Travis Kelce at 6’5…..
He’s 5’11 basically 6 foot dude.
He was a great pickup. Time will tell who becomes the starters, but all the pickups this offseason raise the bar for play. Anyone who plays poorly will risk losing their reps. And they have enough talent to allow the rookies to develop if they aren't ready for a full time role.

Terrion and Ennis Rakestraw are gonna be awesome! Alabama recruited Ennis and thought they were going to sign him. Sure could have used him, but happy for him. He was great at Missouri and made to the NFL and landed in a perfect spot
As a Lions fan it’s perplexing that we made it to the NFC title game with that secondary😵💫
Good coaching
They saw the holes they needed to fill after the championship game. We knew there were holes.
It was due to a very strategic and intentional game plan. They knew they'd get beat in space, but in tight, short yardage situations, the secondary performed extremely well. The game plan: 1) Stop the run and force opponents to pass heavily. 2) Blitz the linebackers and safeties to assist with the pass rush. 3) If the secondary gets beat over the top, as long as it's not taken to the house, break out an extremely well practiced red zone defense (short yardage situations). 4) stop the run again.
In a nutshell, Aaron Glenn played his defense to its strengths and created a game plan that would only work for the situation he was dealt. It was genius.

I'm on the West coast, (Los Angeles) and I keep it real anyway when I say that Detroit probably is the most balanced team now in the NFL. A good year out Jameson Williams and Detroit is in the Super Bowl. I'm gonna stand on that.
Calling it now, UDFA Steele Chambers is making the roster. He’s a LB converted from RB. He’s the only guy the Lions added that can fill the vacancies on special teams and backup LB left by Anthony Pittman. Plus, with his size and experience at RB, he could also potentially fill Jason Cabinda’s vacant spot at fullback. Wasting a roster spot on a dedicated FB doesn’t make sense when you rarely use one, plus they have 2 LBs who can also play FB (Rodrigo, Chambers). Even Vaki might be able to play FB if he put on another 10-15 lbs.
Having Vaki and Gibbs in the backfield at the same time would be cheating💀

Our secondary was like 27th in the league last year just think if we're in the top half of the league this year think how unstoppable we will be
The lack of pressure was a big part of that. We still have questions at safety, too. Hopefully, shoring up the middle of the line takes pressure off of not having someone great opposite Hutch.
@@Cujobob we had Jerry Jacobs and Cam Sutton starting at corner that says it all. Both aren't even on the team or starters for another. I think we're fine at safety with Branch, Iffy, Kerby, and Brandon Joseph but our d line sucked at sacking the QB not putting pressure on him so if the secondary is better on coverage our D line will get home more often
@@TripleNikel555 you can never expect coverage to hold forever. Last time, they were left on their own for way too long. Coverage sacks can happen, but this team struggled to get to the QB when coverage held up. Sutton could have been a competent CB2, but he played through some things and was tasked with doing too much. Our safeties were horrendous last year outside of Melifonwu who came on late.
@@Cujobob you mean sacks, we did well on pressures. those pressures would be sacks if we made the QBs look for a second or two longer
@@claylarson3021 the pressure rate was high, but I’d be curious to see teams compared by time to throw. Typically, this is only tracked for QBs and not for team defense. What counts as a pressure is subjective and you can pressure a QB and still fail to do so quickly.

We already had one of the best O-lines in the league, we lost one guy and added 3. The biggest difference are the additions we made on defense obviously. We are so deep that even with 4 or 5 key injuries all around we will still be better than last years team. We have the same offense, with a better Line and players like Laporta and Jamo are going to get even better, but our defense is upgraded to an insane amount. We don't have any holes on this team.
The only question mark left on defense is the DC can he actually coach a good defense I’ve not been impressed with his game plan and he doesn’t make adjustments as soon as he should. Hope I’m wrong on him but we should’ve gone looking for a new DC
AG hasn’t been a bad DC. The weakness in corners and D-Line coming up short left a lot of inaccuracies on plays. That’s what lead us to giving up so many.

Jared Goff is absolutely slept on and I will continue saying it, he is a top 5 QB in the league. If he wins Detroit a Super Bowl, there will be a statue built.
Can't forget also the huge projected upgrade of D Line and Db coaches. Terrell Williams and DeShea Townsend mixed with all this talent is a recipe for dominence. Holmes choosing tough gritty violent players is going to turn the Lions into that physical team no one wants to play. Lets Go!!!

Probably be ST/RB/WR more than S. But if they need help at S he could play there also. That's incredibly valuable because a guy who takes up 1 roster spot and can play 4 different roles frees up other areas to carry more players. For example the Lions have 6 RB's on the team but never went deeper than 3. Add him and they have 4 RB's and can drop those other 3 guys which frees up to spots.
Yeah, I don’t like the pick if true. We already have two studs and a decent third backup. Why are we drafting him there when we actually need depth at safety, WR, and DL?

They have the best Roster on paper. The chiefs still a dynasty the niners an achilles heel. I liked what the eagles did. Baltimore was good. Steelers. Bears coming up and pack should be good too. Dolphins contenders. Bills will have a drop off
Brian Branch is a slot corner not a safety. Maybe they move him around some this year though
He is technically a safety that played nickel corner last year. We had CJGJ, Joseph, and Iffy back there. I imagine he plays a lot more safety moving forward.

That year that Goff just put up, Matt Stafford has probably only had 2 mayybe 3 seasons as good or better than Goff’s 2023. And I’m a huge Stafford guy.

@@brandonbaty2291 Brad is not going to fix what's not broken. Branch doing excellent job, if fact probably most stabile position in the backfield, the goal is to strengthen other positions. Now if these new draft pick come in like he did then it's about getting the best players on the field... Then I can see him at safety.
