You and the fam can all enjoy spacious comfort and a reduction in light for morning lie-ins with the roomy Dakota 2200 Rooftop Tent with LST.
This tent has Light Suppression Technology (LST) to keep it dark and reduce the temperature, is made from 280 gsm polycotton tear check canvas, fine PVC coated insect mesh windows, a sky roof, 180° windows, side vents and a 25mm heavy duty alloy sheath covered aluminium internal frame that pivots on a stainless-steel yoke. There’s also a 65mm open cell mattress with a cover, two ladders and two doors and an adjustable 210D poly ripstop fly.
In this video, our teammate Ben takes you on a walkthrough of all the features of this RTT. He starts out with talking you through the specs and dimensions, fabrics and materials, and external features such as the LST technology, awning, fly, and the optional extras available to enclose the annex.
Then he climbs inside the tent through the doors to show you how much space there is inside, the mattress, storage options, windows and ventilation, and the weather protection. Finally, he zips up the tent to demonstrate how effective the light suppression technology is - so check it out above for all the details.

Looks like very good quality with well thought out design.
It is big, and heavy. Buyers should take note of roof rack &/or vehicle-roof load limits before bolting this one on. It's a pretty cool family touring option though. ~ Ben

I think this would be really cool on a trailer so you get the advantage of being off the ground and quick to put up combined with being able to drive off and explore. Kind of like a cheap camper trailer.
That would be a great idea, Grannie Annie, putting this on a trailer would also mitigate the risks of having the weight high up on a vehicle too. ~ Ben
This is exactly what I am going to be doing just finalizing some research on a RTT that can sleep 3-4 people (plus other things I will be adding on) and have an awning as well. I just got a 7x4 Traidies Trailer with racks on top that can handle up to 240KG in weight. This RTT is a contender
how long would it take to build up and pack up? I was planning to get a James Baroud Grand Rail to put on the All Roada trailer but this RTT sold me with its size and 2 ladders.
We've not managed to figure out the logistics to show setup and pack down sorry, Tien, but it's similar to most rooftop tents, just wider and you have a send ladder to extend. I'd say that if you weren't racing the clock, you could have just the rooftop tent portion without Annex setup in under 10 minutes, then add another 10 or so for the Annex if you have that option too.
I'[m not familiar with the James Baroud tents though so I can't make a confident comparison but they look pretty straight forward.

What would be your opinion on this compared to the Darche Highview 2200?
From our experience the Darche and 23Zero rooftop tents are pretty much on par with each other when it comes to quality, Moontagu, the light blocking feature is the main difference. ~ Ben

Can you tell me what roof rack you're using in the video. And do you know if it would be suitable to fit on an fj cruiser?
I'm not sure about the roof rack, Yvonne, this car belonged to one of the 23Zero representatives. I can't really help with suitability for an FJ Cruiser either sorry, you'd need to measure up the vehicle, type and rated capacity of the roof rack, and check out the roof load limits for the vehicle.
We are not fitment specialists, your best bet would be to consult a roof rack or 4WD fitout specialist.

I have a Subaru outback and looking for a family sized roof tent. What is the best roof support system to use? We have the Thule wing bars rated to 100kg. Would that work?
Not for a family sized roof top tent - this one weighs 100Kg for example.
You'd need to find out your static and dynamic roof load limit for the Outback before deciding on a RTT model.
Not sure if the large RTT would be suitable for SUVs

Depends on the people - if you've got 4 fully grown adults, then probably, but a family could sleep normal orientation

What kind of roof rack do i need for supporting this rooftop tent??
There are a few elements to consider here, Yeogum, and the limitations may surprise you.
Firstly you need to know the roof load limit for your vehicle, many 4WD's have a limit of 100kg for example and you'll then need a rack that is rated to support this tent, you can adapt the fitting system to most roof rack styles.
Here's where it gets complicated. You need to make sure that the weight of the rooftop tent roof rack combined don't exceed the roof load limit for your vehicle.
The weight of this tent doesn't leave much weight for the actual rack, and you should also check the GVM of your vehicle with this extra weight on top.

It then gets even more complicated when you start talking off-road weight limitations, which reduce the on-road weights mentioned above considerably. In most cases, this tent alone would exceed the off-road limits for many vehicles.
I'd recommend speaking to a professional roof rack installer to make sure your rooftop tent is installed safely.
