Great set up. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Nice tent for family đđź
I still canât believe you got rid of the palatial estate tent that we used in Death Valley. You know, the one that could be seen from space.
Hahaha! Yes with great pleasure!
Freespirit recreation makes an 80x98 and has made it for years. You stated that you checked all the major brands and no one makes a tent this big, but FSR makes a tent bigger than this and at the same price as this one (at current time of this comment), it also includes their tri layer system.
@@alpinetactics I wouldnât respond to people like this, I mean my point was that you had said there was not another tent this big and so I was just letting you know there was in case you didnât realize there was. I wasnât saying anything bad about your work like this guy was. But I would just ignore these type of comments. Doesnât do any good to try to justify your reasoning to people that are trolling you. Youâre 100% transparent about it so itâs not like youâre trying to lie to people.
@@PrestonGladd thanks man I appreciate it, I know your right. I need to work on not letting it get to me.
I know its 4 months later but the FSR tent is no longer available. what a shame.
23zero 87 has 87x96 sleeping area.
Good to know, thatâs a huge jump in size and sounds like it is a great option for even larger families. For familyâs of 4-5 this tent is just the perfect size.
Basically it's a CVT Mt. Denali RTT, it looks like Terra Firma Overland is selling CVT's older tent designs.
I had looked into the Denali - It was a foot longer and 75lbs heavier. Total deal breaker for me.
But itâs like I said in the video - right size and weight. May look similar but this tent checks boxes other tents fail to.
In the market for a big rtt anybody know how this compares to the smittybuit xl gen 2 ?
Hey great video. I am looking for a larger rtt for family camping that isnt $4k, so this fits. I love the design of this tent and am about to hit the pre order button (using your sweet discount link). Terra Firma seems like a newer brand though. I cant find any other reviews of this tent or any of their tents. You said you were scoping them out before they reached out to you. How did you hear about them? Do you know anything about how well established they are?
I heard about them when they were doing a giveaway on instagram. Ever since I reached out to them I keep in contact with the owners of the company pretty much on a weekly basis lol. They are awesome but yes they are a small family business and are pretty new.
This is a great review as someone who doesnât have oneâŚ. Because they all are too small.
Iâm new to over landing but not new to camping I camp in the middle of the Mojave sometimes it gets really windy how does this thing hold up and if it does how is the wind noise
Been fortunate enough to not have a windy night in it yet. Been through windy nights in roof top tents and itâs always terrible so we try really hard to camp with some shelter around if wind is in the forecast
23zero is what I've been leaning to bc of the light suppression tech. There is a $600 difference between 23zero and Terra Firma, what kind of light does the terria firma allow in? Will sunshine or headlights shine through easily.
Itâs thick canvas, so it stays plenty dark for me to sleep in comfortably. I am not familiar with the 23zero light suppression tech but personally any of these thick canvas tents block out plenty of light for me. If you need black out I can tell you itâs for sure not that. I donât think you would be disturbed by headlights or flashlights either. We typically camp pretty far away from other vehicles so I havenât been able to test it but I canât imagine it being an issue.
Late to the party but great vid! Did you ever start your second channel based around photography?
Not yet, still planning on doing it though. Iâll probably start doing it after the baby gets here and things settle down from that
@@alpinetactics Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss it. YT is off with it's notifications sometimes.
QUESTION- Have you considered closing the tent with the awning still on? and then tucking it into the tent cover? is it possible? seems like it would make it super easy to setup again
I havenât but Iâm willing to try it this weekend when we head out for our next trip! Thanks for the tip!
â@@alpinetactics would make for an interesting video. I used to be able to do it on my old tent. was a cool cheat! good luck!
You just gonna pass by the 23zero 72 breezeway , same size đ¤
@@alexlantrip8043 wasnât aware of that one. Just looked it up after reading this and is does look like it shares some feautures
Does measure 4 inches shorter then the terra Firma front to back. Might still be able to accomplish the same sleeping position for a lot of people but for taller folks those 4 inches will matter.
Less about the tent and more regarding mounting; at 2:47 in the video the tent looks like its bouncing around severely. That should be a major concern especially mounted on a fiberglass shell. Have you noted any stress cracks in the gelcoat of the shell?
The whole back end of the truck is shaking as a whole (bed, camper shell, roof rack and tent). Thatâs actually pretty normal on those washboard type roads when you have all that weight in the back (atleast on a Tacoma) Pretty sure in that frame I wasnât aired down too. Well below the dynamic weight rating, no issues with the mounts or shell.
23 zero walkabout
76â is a bit better then 72â from there it jumps to 87â which is just huge. 76â is the sweet spot.
@@alpinetactics 72x96. With lst technology. Much better!
@@cpmoreno88make a CZcams video for it
There actually is a larger tent than yours. Itâs the Gordigear Daintree 220. The sleeping footprint is 7â-6âx 7â-2â. The Gordigear mattress is the most comfortable on the market and overall build quality is superior. We sleep 5 in ours. Has anti wind noise rain fly technology. Comes with 2 ladders. Has annex option with floor. Only costs $2,390. Only downside is it weighs 196lbs but thatâs because itâs bigger and it has a 3.1â high density foam mattress. They are one of the highest quality tent makers in the world. Been making tents for 50 years.
Sounds like a great set up for some people. Personally I donât want extra space and extra weight. This size and weight is just right for my application.
@@alpinetactics
Makes sense for family of 4. But great for other families of 5 to know thereâs a tent out there for them as well. Plus the mattress is like a Hest mattress in comfort.
@@ccwstraightshooter9761 thatâs awesome, we actually are a family of 5 too. The kids are all small though but plenty of room for our situation
