Hey pilots! Tricker here and I want to welcome you to my channel on combat aviation. I’m a real world pilot in the Airbus 319/320/321 series and I enjoy DCS World, Falcon BMS, Falcon 4.0, IL-2 Sturmovik, X-plane 11, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
If you want to fly WWII aircraft over Normandy and the English Channel, then DCS World WWII is for you and they have plenty of aircraft to choose from such as the BF-109, FW-190, Spitfire, P-47 Thunderbolt, and P-51 Mustang. If you enjoy modern aerial combat then you want to focus more on DCS World products such as the F-16, A-10C Warthog, AH-64D Apache, F-15, F-14, JF-17, SU-27, Mirage, Mig-29, F-18 Hornet, Mi-8, Mi-24 Hind, Uh-1 Huey, Ka-50, F-5, Mig-21, AV-8b Harrier, and the F-4 Phantom. Some of the mods that are out there for DCS World are the F-22 Raptor, SU-57, A-4 Skyhawk, Rafale, and Gripen.

After buying the F4, suffering to
Learn it and enjoying a lot, I found myself also feeling interested in buying the Mig-21, which to be very honest, I wasn’t very interested before the F-4 release. Really happy to see that Cold War era aircraft’s and scenarios are again alive on DCS.
I picked up the Mig-21 a while back on a whim. I ended up really enjoying it! I think a lot of people like it, particularly those interested in cold war aircraft.
I love all the Cold War aircraft, but the mig21 is definitely a beast
If we ever get the F-8J. I wonder how that matchup will be.
Its only going to get better from now on. We have a lot of upcoming CW aircraft.
Yep! A-1H Skyraider, A-6E Intruder with KA-6D tanker (AI), A-7E Corsair II, F-8J Crusader, F-100D Super Sabre, and F-104 Starfighter, G.91, MiG-17 and C-130J. Dang! There’ll be so many modules, it’ll be difficult deciding which one to fly each day! Ha!
And then the other versions of the Phantom: F-4B, F-4J and F-4D (I hope). And hopefully an A-7D.
There’s only a finite number of “mainstream” units. About the only ones left would be the F-111F, F-105D, F-106A, F-101B, F-102A and F-86D (although, the last 4 are interceptors of limited roles). And a British and French CATOBAR suite would be cool. F-4K Phantom, S.2 Buccaneer and AI of the others aboard Ark Royal R09. And the Etendard IV to go with the F-8J (close enough?) on the Clemenceau and Foch, plus AI models. That should pretty much complete the West. Of course there are plenty of lesser produced models (and certainly some I’ve missed). Plus a Korean War set and a bunch of WWII models. That ought to keep the developers busy for the next 20 years!!

Yeah 1 R60 still has 3 times the warhead weight of a warhead of a stinger. So i'd say 80% of the time it connects that should be the end of any aircraft.
The R60 is pretty notoriously bad, even when it hits.

A Mig-21 fanatic - r-60 is a double tap missile for sure
Seems the warhead numbers are iffy. It's indicated as 3kg, but then in the Wikipedia description it says 1kg is the explosive. If you search for the R-60, you find out a similar thing: indicated as 3kg, but the explosive component is 1.15 kg.
I think the total warhead weight is similar between the two missiles, but the Stinger may use a more modern and effective compound.
@Galf506 i find 3.5 kg explosive warhead for the R60 and based on it's size that seems likely. With 3 kg of filler and 0.5 kg for the casing

I’ve owned the MiG-21 for a year or so after a sale but I’m finally taking the time to learn it. Figured it’s a great time when everyone is learning the F4 and I can’t wait to get all my mappings setup

I found a 4-year-old Reddit post that has people saying they use it in Cold War servers and it works fine but I don't do public multiplayer so I can't confirm it myself

R-13M1 has been my go-to since the tomcat came out. Not quite as maneuverable as the R-60s, though. Such an entertaining video, man!

I've been away from DCS for a long time (years) but while I have an HP Reverb G2 I'm going to start back with TrackIR now that I just received a new headpiece to replace the broken one.
I can't wait to get back to flying again.
I just hope I can figure out how to fix Discord so it doesn't think I need both my Throttle PTT button AND my Stick's Trigger to talk. Kind of nice to have a Trigger that works like a Trigger.

I'm not a real pilot, I just wasn't hired because of my health.But I flew the Yak-18 and the Yak-52 upside down.my friends took me for a ride on the Tu-154 several times.I've been flying his simulator for about 6 hours a day for half a year.
f4 no damage model now,I hit one guy 4 R60Ms,no wings broken still flying.Damn it.

The Mig-21 really needs an update. The cockpit texture are dated, long-standing bugs etc. An update to modern standards would greatly improve this awesome module.

Even the A-10 and the F-14 rarely need more than 2 missiles. The Phantom's damage model might need a slight tweaking.
I'm not saying it's correct...but, what if it's just better than the other models and other stuff needs to catch up? It's an interesting perspective, especially given the time they put into the systems and damage.
Remember these are R-60's. Afaik the R-60 has similar low effect on the A-10 and F-14

I find it easier to beat an AI F-4 with a mig-21 (ACM not BVR) than to beat an AI mig-21 in an F-4; but damn they are both fun fights!
I’d spent so much time in the F/A-18, F-16 and Mirage and F-14, that I forgot how much fun it is to fight with missiles that don’t suck…but aren’t fantastic either; that and no “fly by wire. Really extends the fight and makes you work for it. Not to mention how much fun taking out targets with Walleys, Bull pups and GROMs are compared to the “place thing to be destroyed here” of the TGPs and LGBs.
So for the last month I’ve been flying the MiG-21, A-4 and now the F-4 exclusively. I’ll go back to modern eventually but that mid-late 70’s generation 3 stuff is a real sweetspot. Now I need an A-7 and maybe a Sepcat Jaguar

So I looked up the real world records of these 2 aircraft and apparently the F-4 absolutely wrecked the Mig-21 in pretty much every engagement, so maybe the F-4 doesn't need a nerf lol. It was pretty shocking how well it did, maybe it was the quality of training on the US side, missiles, or a combination of the two I'm not sure
When I saw the title of the video I though "surely this isn't a documentary" but then I realized it was DCS so that made it more believable lol
This is a sim, nerf is not a concept that applies, but yeah it's a combination of things. It's not easy to become a good pilot if your country cannot afford to have you fly all the time.

Good video, pity that the 21 isn't more accurate, has to bleed faster the speed and will be more real the fight, the 21 in a tight turn will bleed from 800 kph to 500 kph in just 100/120 degrees of turn, turning at in the red zone of the AoA indicator, now it can sustained a lot more the speed and this become a super better and not real dogfighter. I hope the Team update this.

I would agree but it’s pretty rare for me to have an F5 take more than one R60, but it’s been awhile. The viggen however, I’ve seen fly without wings 👀

Many ppl shocked mig21 in capable hands is so capable..due to propaganda ppl believe usa planes superior but only due to circumstances and overall superiority by numbers did usa prevail in such conflicts.. imagine if tricker would br assisted in 3 to 1 ratio..for 6 enemies he would have 18 friendly mig21... I think we can safely say mig21 was exceptional plane that was made to win air war in harshest condition..

Tough question, I enjoy them both and they both have good pros and cons
although the team unbalance has been real bad because of the F4, my buddy and I have had a blast clapping all these braindead F-4 guys with our mig 21 and 19

Make sure your two switches are flipped up by the weapon select rotary knob.

it takes more missiles not because the f4 is "tough" lol, its just modeled wrong, as real life will prove one missile, one gun burst for that matter almost always taken out an aircraft. There aint no armo in the F4 lol except the seat back if thats even true.
R60 has a very low PK, if it hits its unlikely to kill depending on the platform irl.
@@NickBeaton92 if it hits and explodes as all missiles in dcs do, the plane is DEAD!! An r60 has proven in real life if it hits the target it's going to destroy it for the most part. Except that 707 , but that proves they might be unreliable in tracking.
R-60 are really small and have a small warhead. It tends to need two missiles for most larger jets (F-14, A-10) just because the tiny warhead has troubles hitting enough vital stuff to knock you out of the sky.
A gun burst is something else entirely.
