Thank you for such good footage of Laos. If it weren't for you I think a lot of people wouldn't realize Laos existed. What a great country.
another good one
Very nice
Can't get enough
thankyou to see Lao biothérapies.
HR Puffenstuff! 555 Loved that show!!
🤗🙏🏼!
That was fun, enjoyed it 👍thank you.
Have a good one.
Great video 🙂👍
Really loving the photos at the end…
Thanks Dion 😁
You have outdone yourself - HR Pufstuf!!!!! Jimmy and his magic, speaking flute.
Hahaha But they did look like Witchy Poo's 😝
Flute was Freddy I think..🤔
@@NowinLao Correct, Freddy was the flute. How lucky was Jimmy to have a talking flute called Freddy? At that age my flute had a different name and fortunately couldn't speak.....the stories it could tell.
Looks a lot nicer with fewer tourists. Especially the ones who annoy the monks with cameras. Great country nice people. How Thailand was 20 years ago. The islands down south on the Cambodian border were a real eye opener.
Another fantastic vid
Thanks mate
🍺🍺👍
Thanks Nuts 👍
Great video as always.
Hope you're both doing well
My favourite, boun bang fai.
I'm yet to attend a rocket festival.. next year hopefully 🤞
Village vs. village! Fantastic. Like Sidney vs Alice Springs (Henley on the Todd).
🙏🙏👍👍
Nice video Todd. Keep on keeping on.
Change of plans and I wont be there until Feb.
Thanks for the video bro.
Harriet and I lived in Boston, Ma. We had a boat race in Cambridge Ma. called The Head of the Charles Regatta. Crew teams. It's a party scene. Louangphrabang takes it to a new level.
It looks like a lot of fun to be there. The food, The Drink and The Race. Everyone is having a good time. Thank You Todd for taking us along. Congrats to 50K plus subscribers Todd. All the best
👍👍👍👍 Jim and Harriet. Richmond, Va
Thank you and your wife for bringing Laos to us. Hope to visit someday :)
Hi Todd, great video of a great day out in LPB. Thanks for my 15seconds of fame there LOL. The rent for 1 month in a good hotel on the very end of the peninsula there was A$40 per night (US$28). This month, October, we are renting a two room place for US$450 for the whole month (Living room downstairs, bedroom upstairs with balcony looking over the river the races were on). I do love Luang Prabang.
Now~ yeeah. amazing masterpiece.😌
Thank you
How fun you were able to experience. I was able to catch the races on Thai PBS
Thank you for this great video & showing me Laos 🇱🇦👍👍❤️❤️
I'm glad you enjoyed it Jenny 😋
💯🔥💙👍
looks like Oxford and Cambridge boat race in the uk
Didn't know Laos had Grim Reapers too..
Happy Fathers day mate I'm of to the golf club with the family, OOo I'm going to be dusty 2morro, beers sniddy and the Fam , it doesn't get any better ,
Thanks mate, same to you. Hope you're having a great day 😁👍
Great video Todd, thanks for showing us around Luanprabang.
I have to smile at the BeerLao comsumption... Dare I say 'Enough to float a Boat'.
Were the chips good? (Note I said Chips not Fries).
Very cool video, Todd. That looked like a really fun place to be.
Wow what a spectacle this day is......very impressive!
........and those wonderful still shots make the channel stand head and shoulders over most.......very classy, 😊😊👍👍
Cheers Peter 🍺
This was a good mini series Todd .
Cheers Pak 👍
Great Vid Todd. You're becoming quite the auteur. The photo montage outros are really good. I hope you keep doing them.
The event was good, I think the LWL (length at the waterline) has a lot to due with theoretical top speeds on displacement hulls like these canoes. The longer boats have an advantage. It looked like the half stoke guys at the stern were part rowers part tiller men, steering a well as rowing.
Sorry to hear the train is still a cluster F**K.
Your HR Pufinstuff reference was random I watched that horrible show in the states as a kid...... lol
Not gonna lie Michael, had to look up what an 'auteur' was lol. Thank you. It actually pleases me that so many enjoy the pics to finish some of the videos, as I was taking pics long before video and now I get to share them also.
Yes, I think you are right, somebody else mentioned how those guys help steer also..
I thought HR Pufnstuff was The Shit when I was a kid.. great show. Seen it as an adult and you're right.. was awful! 😝
I'm new to your channel; this is fantastic, excellent content! One of these days, I'll share a meal or beer with you and Neene. I live in the US, but I was born in Xayabouri, LC.
Hey Som... Welcome! If you haven't seen it, check my playlists, just last year we did a big tour of Xayabouri 👌Always enjoy having a beer with subscribers 👍
Wow if there is 40 rowers that means that the boat is at least 120 feet (40 meters) in length.
The boat racing festivals are always a hoot no matter where you go to watch them. A real carnival atmosphere along with the street markets and you had surprisingly cheap food Todd. Great coverage mate. Bushyboy Oz.
Cheers mate 👍
Thanks, Todd, for your awesome video of the Lao boat races. Great video 👍😃🇺🇲❤️
Todd great vlog !
Todd did u have to make us hungry right off the bat lol 😂
Love it calling shotgun
It’s light rain though
Looks like a great day with lots of fun
The black and white photos really tell their own story
Keep itvTodd
Hello TODD,one more time a very nice video. What great memories for us.💞
The ticketing will be fixed just in time for the deluge of Chinese tourists I'm quite certain.
What a great day. Thanks for sharing it Todd 👍
Hi, mate I think the guys at the back of the boats standing look like rudder man keeping the boat on straight course (maybe wrong) !
I know the very last one is.. maybe those others help also 👍
Todd, the man with the New York Yankees cap which is my favorite cap being that i am from New York in the U.S., is he Aussie or American? Nice video, Peace
At what time in video?
The ones in black look like the itchy poos from H.R.Pufenstuf. lmao 😅😂🤣😝 haven't heard those words in 50 years and I'm shocked to hear them now. Something about festivals,,good snacks,,lots of smiling cute drunk ladies. Lol cya Todd,,Ttyl,,,Marlon
The Lao love their festivals mate 🍺😁👍
Same drink silliness here in the US, get a ticket and fine for walking about with a beer? Asians do get some things really, really right!
cheers!
ron:)
Great video and footage of the dragon boat races. I've experienced a few over the years including one in Vientiane. It was a lot of noisy, muddy, beer-soaked fun. The best one I ever attended was in Phnom Penh about 20 years ago. So chaotically brilliant and colorful. LP looks worth checking out sometime in the future. I'm always SO impressed with the power and speed of those long boats. Wow. Thanks for sharing!
4:45 "Right-o. Still trying to get my bearings..."
I know it's a bit late but - you're heading north, coming up to the Apsara hotel facing the Nam Khan.
When the racing is on, I normally hide on the Phan Luang side of the river. The boats are backlit by the sunlight...
sok dii der (I'll try not to add any more useless comments during this video.) [Great stills!]
27:49 yes a Citroën.
Great video - I wish I had been there.
..but I like your useless comments Nick 😉👍
Well that town has been well trashed.
hi quick question, have you ever seen foreigners live in the boats?
hey Todd can i ask how much it cost to stay in that westerner/french place? In USD. Thank You for your generosity. And how much is the train tickets now since inflation has gone up too?
Prices at Souvanna Phoum Hotel start at $70 US, the train from Vientiane to LP about $20 US 👍
@@NowinLao Thank You
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
So why are there army guys with rifles there?
Security for the Prime Minister, attending Governers and VIPs
Impressive for sure
What would it be like pre pand.
How grand are those boats 🛶 big crews on board rowing their hearts out -
Thanks T
How hard is to get around with only English as a tourist?
In the larger towns and tourist areas, not much problem at all. Can be a little difficult along the back roads though.
Thank you for the video. Hey, nothing like a useless wet mask outside in the rain.
Hi mate, I was at the exact same event for a couple of weeks on both side of the races. Maybe you had a better experience, and I like your videos, but I feel like you’ve put a positive spin on this one.
I found the entire LPB experience to be a poor reflection of Laos. Didn’t feel welcome at all, unfriendly locals staring at you with vacant, dead eyes; fake, boring markets with the same tourist rubbish, mediocre food, and dodgy karaoke boats running up and down the river all night. I don’t recommend LPB (especially old town) to anyone except history buffs and buddhist pilgrims. But do recommend spending time pretty much anywhere else if they’re after genuine experience of Laos culture - as your other videos reflect. It’s way better to get away from the tourist traps and spend time in the company of locals in a natural setting.
I like your videos and really promote Laos as a destination, and I don’t really post such negative comments, but LPB was a stain on our experience of the country. I’m always genuinely confused when people tell us how much they loved LPB…
