This week, I've tried on a bunch of wedding dresses in bridal salons in order to get a better idea of what elements I want to include in my handmade wedding dress.

Great tip from your friends to go and try on some dresses first. I've learned when shopping to give a dress a try, even though it doesn't always look great on the hanger because it just might surprise you and change your mind about what you can or can't pull off. Plus, dresses that look incredible on the picture perfect models almost never look the same on the rest of us, so it's important to remember to dress our bodies in styles that are flattering and complimentary to our figures. It's also important to consider your own comfort when dress shopping, taking into account the undergarments especially. I'm a very busty gal, and I have to wear a supportive bra with straps, so my choices are far more limited. A friend of mine got married and her dress had lace on the bodice and it rubbed around her armpit area something awful, so by the end of the night her skin was just raw, red, and painful. No one wants to spend a special day constantly worrying about and adjusting their undergarments or getting irritable over an ill-fitting garment.
