No. Any system will add weight. There will always be a compromise, that's kinda the nature of any added armor / weaponry. But the modular approach of the GTK Boxer allows for easier adaptability than others. But in principle you could integrate StrikeShield APS for all variants. For example, you would probably want a Boxer with StrikeShield and the Lance turret system as an ifv variant. Would be capable of shooting drones out of the sky and have a quite capable aps. There are Boxer variants that are able to do this better than others though. Because it will always be a compromise. On the extreme end of anti drone capability, you have the Oerlikon SkyRanger (theoretically capable of shooting everything out of the sky short of a bullet). Doesn't transport many troops though.
Maybe because it isnt British by birth? Britain left the Boxer program in a very early stage of the developement. The vehicle we have today is German (Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH and Rheinmetall Military Vehicles GmbH) and Dutch (Rheinmetall Defence Nederland B.V.) by birth...

This £3 billion deal should be put on hold until after Brexit, if Germany wants to put in place extra costs for trade, we wait and do the same to them.
It is 1 against 27... but, hey the lonely one is the UK, so they gonna win... RIGHT?! EVERYBODY in the EU is already pissed about the UK. The UK always demanded better deals then everybody else, so this time, it won't fly.
"The UK always demanded better deals" This is why Brexit happened. "1 against 27" EU is not the whole world. EU nationalism is really funny to watch. Nothing to brag about, no history and no culture. I feel sorry for Germany, France and the other 25 countries. Merged into the lowest common denominator. I wonder if the lingua franca will be pidgin english bbc.com/pidgin.
I hope you see the problem with your idea. If Germany sells this shit to you, then you can't demand that Germany massively changes their price because of your pettiness
@@JG-ib7xk While switching modules is possible, I think the idea is more to provide a common vehicular base. That means easier crew training, maintenance training, spare parts commonality for the baseline chassis, better economy of scale on purchases.
Very well and thoroughly explained videos Sir. Thank you.
Can the Boxer be fitted with active protection and an anti drone capability without any compromise?

aka the British and Germans were the only allies of WWII
so many salty brits envying german engineering
Nice to see Germany finally winning at something considering they haven't won any wars since Unification.
Whoo, the salt is strong with this one.
Jonny Not really. I’m hoping we buy the boxer. I’m just reminding some that engineering doesn’t necessarily win you wars.
just like the brits winning any wars against Germany on their own
UK alone can beat Germany in a war tomorrow.
British by birth but not in our army ?? Wtf
never heard of FRES F you back.
Will be soon, its been selected to fill the FRES role

German by birth
typical of the English. None of the boxer is born and developed in england. it is simply typical "made in germany"
That doesnt even make sense you melt
Then tell me how can the boxer be „made in Britain“?
@@mimimi8238 he is produced in Britain, for the British army, but by birth the vehicle still is German and Dutch...

What would you like to do the same? Increase prices?! On what?
its not a good idea..battles are fast paced nowadays..and there simply is no time for a transformation on the battlefield..
It wouldn't happen on the battlefield would it. It'd be done at base when re-arming etc is taking place.

Seems like somebody thinks they would try to change Moduls during a firefight XD
