      @@samsonermias6303 off course I am black as well and I am proud. I think it’s scientific fact that color of any person skin have nothing to do of the person character. All this black, diversity, race, etc bullshit relates to the dark history of America and their slavery and to some degree of colonialism.
      He is African and Eritrean and it should be left as that. Like Indian, Chinese, French, Brazilian etc.
      When Pele won the World Cup did they address him as Brazilian or a black.
      Samson, it’s a slippery slope, this looking everything via color does more damage to the confidence and self esteem of the black children that it does good to their self confidence.
      It will never solve the real problem and only way to achieve good is through sheer determination and hard work.

Hes charasmatic speaks multiple languages and has serious skills and race craft. I think trick will be wanty holding on to him finale of MSR, 5th at E3, win Ghent thats serious form and sprint was something, especially if you watch the referred too worlds in belgium last year wher he mentioned late attack got gold his sprint for silver is incredible. Quickstep, lotto, all would be drooling over this kids talent hes signed through 2024 at wanty I just hope if he stays they build around him he can any of these spring races.

Watched tour of Rwanda and some of these other races the road surfaces are tough and cobbles on some , different style to belgian, but I can see why hes at home on cobbles incredible hes never reconned these roads thats pretty incredible he just has amazing form at moment, hes already said how much he loves the roads and fans in belgium so I'd bet flanders will be a goal next year and hopefully roubaix. Silver medal at worlds first in G2 and now Ghent at 21 im sure they are drooling over idea of him winning a worlds think of how many new fans would be tuning in to watch. Kudos!!

      He has race in Rwanda but most of his racing comes from Eritrea, where he started at age 12 or 13. Eritrea is where all those guts are being trained and there is many good things happening for them to become good riders. Ryder the guy from MTN Quebka said, Eritreans will be the new Colombians 10 or 20 years from now (after Daniel was at the tour). He said three things, why;
      1) physiology of Eritreans build point perfectly for cycling.
      2) Eritrea weather with high altitude (Asmara of 2500 meters above sea level (Colombia / Bogota 2600)
      3) Thanks to Italians, the cycling culture and the federation. It’s well organized and runs almost every weekend.
      For example, there is another rider who was Biniam rival growing up named Henok Mulubrhan with Bike Aid, just won the African cycling championship in Egypt this past Sunday. He may not be as good punch as Biniam but very promising rider. Others like Natnael Tesfatsion, Merhawi Kudus, Amanuel Gheberewziabiher and few others are with European team.

    Kudus was also a great prospect in the u23 ranks and so was the Ethipian Hailemichael. He won the KoM jersey and finished 5th on the gc in the 2019 Giro della Valle d'Aosta, perhaps the hardest Italian u23 race (nothing but mountain stages). He also won the Bassano - Monte Grappa, a hard one day race that finished on a big climb the same year, ahead of the Italian Battistella, who won th u23 WC a few months later. He also rode for Delko with Girmay, but now only a small CT team has picked him up. He's one of those guys I'd love to see on a team like Androni or a Spanish PCT team.

    4 years I have been under the impression that if you took some of these Kenyan long-distance marathon runners and winners they could excel in professional cycling if trained right

      Not too sure about that. The main advantage they have over other people in running is relative limb length. Cycling is almost purely about physiology, long distance runners are not usually extreme outliers in physiology in the way cyclists are. Of course I’m sure there are some people from anywhere in the world who would excel in cycling.

    Saw some commentary after Girmay won Ghent. Very intriguing stuff about how diversifying cycling and yanking it out of the European realm would only improve it. Ethiopians and Eritreans are known for their long distance prowess at high altitudes, which makes them especially suited to time trial type cycling. Now imagine if the Jamaicans took up cycling in large numbers? Chances are you'd have world class track cyclists (sprinters) or even distance riders.

UCI has helped many African riders, but seems pro teams are reluctant. Lets see if it changes. Also the national cycclilng bodies in countries like Tanzania and Kenya are not only weak but hinder cyclists for their own benefit.

    His skin color matters because representation matters. Let's face it, there aren't many other cyclist in the peloton or cycling in general that don't look like the majority of us. Diversity whether it be racial, economic or geographical is better for all mankind. Furthermore, the focus of the video is on Africa as the title states. Again another example of lack of representation and often positioned as a poor continent but if you visit it, it's quite the opposite. Rich in beauty and resources but often overlooked by the mainstream.

    • @TT-rk4uy
      @TT-rk4uy Před 2 lety +7

      Representation is important but it has to come with sheer hard work and determination. Biniam achieved what he achieved not because of his color of his skin but because of his hard work, his power and his gift. Tiger Woods won the master many times, did that creat more black golfers ? Serena Williams dominated women tennis for 20 years, do you see many young black girls in tennis?
      So as an Eritrean, this color or black, diversity etc is pure stupid and useless. Hard work and determination is what matters.
      There will be many, many Eritrean riders who will come and follow the footsteps of Biniam. May be there will be Some from Rwanda or South Africa but I doubt you will see more in the future.
      It’s really simple, Eritrea cycling federation is very well organized and it hold race, I am talking about race blocking street happens at least 30 plus times a year, with Kms ranging from 120 to 200.
      This was happening since 1930s for almost 100 years… it’s a matter of time.

      Yes and no. There's a huge spend on cycling in Asia, Japan is massive is cycling racing from MTB to track to road. How many pro Japanese are there though? Are they cutting it enough to compete at the world elite levels? Are they happy to focus on the safe jobs as Japan is a fairly conservative society regarding life goals and work.
      Professional cycling is tough we all no this and you only see the best of the best irrespective of race

    • @TT-rk4uy
      @TT-rk4uy Před 2 lety

      @Red Lobster Skull Those people who advocate “Diversity, Representation, etc” are making a carrier for themselves in the name of “helping others”. They do absolutely “nothing” to actually help those in need of help. It’s educating “the white people”, it “conference, seminars, study paper” etc BS for them to make money “consultation” and complain year in and year out highlighting only “numbers”.
      In the process they are creating resentment with the “white people” the most majority who have nothing to do with racism or “white privilege” who like everyone else, they are struggling to make ends-meet to support their family, where the black people have to live with, to send their kids to school, the people to work with abs the people to interact and make a living.
      In the name “diversity” they wanted to create a wall to separate the people and make “black people constantly angry” towards the white people. It’s hurting the “black people more”, as it’s inflicting “mental damage in their confidence”.

    • @ermiasmikael6275
      @ermiasmikael6275 Před 2 lety +1

      It would've been agreeable if you had said "opportunity matters." But representation only matters so long as the role is played and contribution is made. This is sport, so the fittest and most talented wins as alwaysSHOULD . It is not as black & white as you try to portray it. Furthermore, I am confident that Biniam didn't see it that way, because such 'skin color' based dichotomy are not present in the Eritrean psyche. So please don't bring that 'race card' up here. Just be happy that someone who worked hard and deserved to win DID win.
