The best were those little metal replicas of pistols that held a chamber for six plastic caps that made a minor "bang" when hit with a trigger. Best for playing spies. That was part of the Zeitgeist. No one thought anything about it.
Feel free to go over every single issue of Punisher War Journal. One of the best….and might pair with an Jim Lee artist edition, hopefully.
Watching these videos will never be the same. Heart-broken…
Jim Lee's run on PWJ is the reason I got into comics as a kid...and the thought of different inkers back then was never a thought in my head.
Looking at as an adult, the combo of artistry playing off one another is amazing. Bold colour choices for sure, but it pays off in dividends.
Also, I had the Entertech Mac-10 I believe it was, and the Beretta. 💀
Would love to see you guys dissect Romita Jr's run on Punisher War Zone one day. Great content as always, great job fellas ✌️
My tpb of the Potts-Lee War Journal includes the original art for that opening splash page
Nothing transforms a book like Janson's inks. Another one to look at is Amazing Spider-Man 250. Compare it to 249. Both JRJR, but Janson's 250 is just on another level. Perfect Spidey art IMO.
This was one of my first Punisher comics I can remember reading, so it was awesome to see you guys analyze it.
Gotta have a headband
“Love is a battlefield “
The La li Lu lae lo invented nano machines and….METAL GEAR
"milano" is what is says on the BK guy's shirt.
Remember having this book when I was younger
Hey Ed!!! Look at issue 8 & 9 he inks himself on both. Issue 4 and 5 I think Scott William inks those. You could do a contrast between show between both of them.
This is literally the only issue of War Journal I owned. Gonna have to dig it out.
After Garth Ennis and Punisher MAX it’s really tough for me to go back and read anyone else’s work on the character, especially the War Zone & War Journal stuff. They were always trying to redeem Frank and it so does not work. Trying to fit a mass murderer character into a kid friendly comics code approved marvel series just doesn’t give you enough room to tell the right kind of story that character needs.
Just think of it like a Rambo comic. Kind of makes it work for me. However even in garth's he feels like there is some humanity. Not much mind you but some is there. 80's & 90's is a 80's action movie characters. It's what caused his character to fade out because he felt out of place for Marvel.
Thanks to you, just bid on an auction for this book 👍
Check out Jim Lee’s work in an issue of St. George. It’s my favorite Jim Lee work.
I guess the brand on the dude's shirt might be "Mizuno."
Weird. Turns out that I all it took for me to get on board with Jim Lee was just to get rid of the incessant crosshatching.
KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick should have gotten the promo deal for BK.
You guys should try to Get Klaus on the show!!
