I got married 2 years ago and we pay overall 200 euro. It was just the two of us and afterwards we just were at home, watched a movie and had milkshakes 😂❤

Ahhh congratulations!!! Yes I had a big sad crying in the shower moment after my wedding. Just cause it happens once and then it’s over, you experience it one time. I kept my flowers as long as I could. And I agree the marriage is obviously more important, but it was still sad to only experience it one day. Just like a lot of one time experiences! Bittersweet. Mostly sweet, but it’s okay to feel that way!

Also I did a trip to Paris and the south of France for about 10 days (including Monaco) so I love that you're planning something similar. My advice is south of France >>> Paris and Disneyland Paris is pretty small and lackluster in comparison to other parks.

Here I was trying to plant easter eggs 🤣 We plan to spend most of our time in the south of France! We'll so 3 days in DLP, 2 days in Paris and about 5 in the south of France!

You are absolutely correct, the amount of money spent does not equate to the happiness you’ll have in your marriage. My husband and I have enjoyed 17 years of joy together and our wedding cost us pennies (literally we were poor little church mice and had nothing, even the cake was baked by a loved one). Love has no price tag because it lives inside you and your beloved. Grow together. Learn from one another. Hold each other tightly and never let go for anything. It’s a wonderful ride and I wish you and Matt so much joy and happiness as you keep taking on life together. I’m so proud of you both. I am so happy for you both!!!! We eloped at San Francisco's City Hall and put the money we saved from not having an all out wedding towards traveling! Also am happy we did not go all out for my own sanity (family from both sides would have driven me up the wall lol) and I ugly cried during our civil ceremony so I'm happy no family had to witness that!!

I loved this! I feel like many couples spends so much money on rings and weddings and even get in debt and forget that you can still have an amazing time with a low budget. I got married last year back home (Costa Rica) and I spent less than $2000, my mom and brother cooked, my dress was from Amazon and I loved it so much, my sister in law altered it… and I only invited my closest friends and family and had an amazing time dancing until midnight ❤
But want to clarify this is the “wedding” with party that everyone wanted. My real wedding day was back in 2019, I got married in Japan in a city hall with my husband. Just him and me in front of a dude speaking Japanese, in our sweaters and sweatpants ❤️

Congratulations Carter! What a huge month it’s been for you. I’m really glad you got the wedding you guys wanted. We had a smaller traditional wedding but eloping was something we strongly considered and we’ll likely do a private vow renewal at some point so we can have vows just for us. I don’t regret the wedding we had, it was amazing, but it was also pricy and a lot of work. Weddings are so much stress, especially if you have challenging family relationships. Good for you for not giving into pressure to do something that wasn’t right for you - no easy feat!

Congratulations!! I love a good big wedding but my husband and I decided that wasn't the way to go for us. We decided on the courthouse and family and a few friends. My mother gifted us dinner afterwards, and we hired our family friend as the photographer. That evening, my family took our daughter, and we went out with my sisters to a local tequila bar for drinks. Afterward we went to our home and talked. Then they left, and we went to sleep in our own bed. We loved every part of the day. It was magical and fun and stress free. So glad you had an amazing day! ❤
My parents eloped 20+ years ago so they completely supported our decision and of course we are still going to be celebrating with them. The great thing is what works for me doesn't have to work for someone else. If we ever have a child I would completely respect and support the decision as well❤️

I do personally know what a small wedding ceremony is!! My husband and I went from TX, picked up my mom and sister in OK, got married in AR - on a weekend. Picked up rings at a Walmart, my dress at some shop. He has to get a suit, rented. Been married June 23, for 20 years!!

Congratulations Carter! What a huge month it’s been for you. I’m really glad you got the wedding you guys wanted. We had a smaller traditional wedding but eloping was something we strongly considered and we’ll likely do a private vow renewal at some point so we can have vows just for us. I don’t regret the wedding we had, it was amazing, but it was also pricy and a lot of work. Weddings are so much stress, especially if you have challenging family relationships. Good for you for not giving into pressure to do something that wasn’t right for you - no easy feat!

Congratulations!! I love a good big wedding but my husband and I decided that wasn't the way to go for us. We decided on the courthouse and family and a few friends. My mother gifted us dinner afterwards, and we hired our family friend as the photographer. That evening, my family took our daughter, and we went out with my sisters to a local tequila bar for drinks. Afterward we went to our home and talked. Then they left, and we went to sleep in our own bed. We loved every part of the day. It was magical and fun and stress free. So glad you had an amazing day! ❤
Glad you got the day you wanted. I considered this option but couldn’t have left my parents out of it. As a parent now I really get that.
My parents eloped 20+ years ago so they completely supported our decision and of course we are still going to be celebrating with them. The great thing is what works for me doesn't have to work for someone else. If we ever have a child I would completely respect and support the decision as well❤️

Congratulations!!! 🤍✨ I so so appreciate how you talked about weddings, the marriage being the most important etc. I just got married and while we did do a traditional wedding ceremony + reception, I would’ve been so happy eloping too or having no choice during COVID! Thanks for talking about friendships too - I struggled with who to ask to be my bridesmaids, who to invite to the wedding, who would come because I’ve moved around so much in my 20’s and the planning was hard for that reason. It was the best day ever in the end but didn’t come without the grief, uncertainty & stress being an anxious gal. Loved hearing about your big day and glad you did what you wanted ❤

I do personally know what a small wedding ceremony is!! My husband and I went from TX, picked up my mom and sister in OK, got married in AR - on a weekend. Picked up rings at a Walmart, my dress at some shop. He has to get a suit, rented.
