Today me and my girlfriend with thousands of other South Africans welcomed our champs (the Springboks, as we call them) back to the country at the airport. Winning the Rugby World Cup means so much for South Africa like no one would understand. In the midst of political injustices, govermental corruption, civil conflict and crime and racism we proved that we can still be One nation and One people, stronger together. This brings so much hope for the real South Africa!

Raymond O'Connor backwards passes at full pace will always end up looking forward because the momentum carries it forward. The only thing to look for is where the ball leaves the hands, most of these flat passes are indeed going backwards out of the players hands.

Regarding the kicking up field, this is normally to get the ball out of the "danger" zone, attempting to get touch, hoping for a handling error/chasing for turnover, or in South Africa's case they want to hit them has hard as possible with the forwards (scrum players) to tire them out so when the new scrum come on they can dominate in the second half...Wales did well to try counter this by simply kicking it back hoping for a handling error.

Hey, bro, here's a rundown of the game. It's much more fun once you get it.
It's two teams of 15 each. Each team gets up to 8 substitutions. The numbers on the backs of the kits represent the positions they play. The reserve players wear kits 16 through 23. The halves last 40 minutes each, but a half can't end until the ball goes dead, so you'll see the clock continue in red past the 40/80 minute mark. Forward passes are illegal, as is knocking or dropping the ball forward. You can obviously kick or run forward.
    There's four ways of scoring:
Try: worth 5 points. You have to place the ball down onto the ground in the other team's goal to score it.
Conversion: worth 2. It's awarded after a try. Kick the ball in between the posts to make it.
Drop goal: worth 3 points. Anytime during open play, if you drop kick in between posts you score.
Penalty kick: also worth 3. Works exactly how you understood it
The scrum is a way of restarting play after a minor infringement like a forward pass. The purpose of the scrum is multifaceted, and that why it's hard for new fans to understand. The first purpose is a contest for possession. Teams are trying to bring the ball to their half of the scrum either by pushing the scrum forward or kicking the ball backwards to their half. The other purposes are to get the other team to concede a penalty, and to allow the backs (the faster guys on the field, and the ones not involved in the scrum) a chance to outfox the other team's backs, without the forwards being involved in play.
When a player gets tackled, a ruck forms. The team in possession rushes in to protect the ball, whereas the team on defence attempts to clear them out of the way in order to gain possession.
Kicking in rugby has multiple purposes. The main reason they kicked it away is because in rugby the field position of the ball is more important than possession. Turnovers can be common.
Those are the basics, there's a few more things to it, but this should be enough to get you started.

I can't believe there are English who know nothing about Rugby or cricket. How is it possible that someone only knows a single sport their whole life.

This is just like in South Africa. Most people HATE rugby( its a race thing like everything in this fucking country) but man everyone went fucking mental. Everyone dancing and hooting in their cars.

By kicking they want to force a mistake from England or let them attack till they tire while the South African backs rest then run them down with speed in the dying minutes
