    Those are some serious distances you cover! Most admirably, however, is the positive and stoic attitude you both have to it, even in miserable conditions. Really enjoy your content. My girlfriend and I do much smaller tours around the U.K, you've given some food for thought and really want to get on the continent. All the best, Will

      Hi Will, yeah we try and make the most of the time we have so big distances are inevitable 😁.
      Yeah we had a lot of bad weather in Norway but were so excited to be there it didn’t crush our spirits -good rain gear helps too 😁.
      We have just finished a 8500km 4 week trip around the UK and had some of the best rides ever! First episodes of this tour will be out next week.
      We hope the channel gives you some ideas about a European tour, we put all the routes in the descriptions too if that’s any help.
      Nice to hear from you and thanks for your comment!

    Im a little surprised you are going to Norway now since I normally consider the last chance for a trip there is in September, maybe even the first half if you want to be sure there is no frost, snow or at least uncertain road conditions on the MOUNTAIN PASSES which is a important way of accessing certain areas of the country but also very scenic and amazing road views. They do also close most of those mountain passes for the winter in late autumn.

      @@SeanandEmily I have ridden about 25000 km in Norway during five years and I have also been riding there in September all those seasons and I have had mostly nice weather, quite warm but also kind of fresh air and also still mostly green nature 👌👍 On the other hand it's also very beautiful there when it's sunny, the leaves are yellow and red and the air is fresh and it's not so sweaty to ride as during summer time. As you mentioned there is less crowded and it's actually very nice to be able to ride without ending up in endless queues behind campers and caravans going in low speed 🙏

      @@SeanandEmily I have to add that as long as you are on sea level or near around the fjords and so on it's no problem to ride in most parts of southwestern Norway also at least a few weeks into October. In September at sea level it's often quite ok temperatures and nice conditions for bike riding, not so different from in second half of August.

    Be careful at dawn and dusk when you see those moose warning signs. That is when they are often active and you have a higher risk of meeting them. I know you want to see one, but it is really the last thing you want to meet at the side of the road. Because they might suddenly jump over the barrier and cross the road right into you. Then you crash into a one tonne wall of meat on stilts... Moose crush cars and their drivers, you do not want to experience a moose crash on a motor bike. That said, for the one not driving, if you see moose warning signs at dawn or dusk, look into the fields or forrests etc. You will be surprised how often you can see a moose just standing completely still in the middle of a field etc. If you know where to look, you see them all the time.

    • @SeanandEmily
      @SeanandEmily  Před 9 měsíci

      Thanks for the Tips, yeah those moose are huge (had a few encounters in Canada). We don't plan on riding at Dusk but I'm sure it's going to happen as we have some big distances to cover so we will be sure to keep two sets of eyes out for them =)

    Well done! I've just found out your videos and they are superb! I live in Oporto, I see you also were here and I'm looking to see the Portugal seres too. By now I'm focused in Heading North, since I'm planning to go to Nordkapp with my wife next July . Do you share your track? I saw this map here your first day in Norway track. By the video I got the idea that you head to Lysebotn by route 9 and, turnning in Rysstad, Suleskardveien E450 and then (Suleskard), Lyseveien route and the Fv500, through the hairpins till Lysebotn. Aldo got the idea you left the fiord by ferry, without comming back. But the map shows a big detour by south, till, Stavanger, that I didn't see in video. Am I missing something? Thank you, and congrats again

      @SeanandEmily  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Hi, thanks very much and welcome to the channel! Yeah we toured through Portugal on the Heading South Tour and had a great time in your country!
      The problem with Google maps is if you try and plan in the winter time when certain roads and ferries are closed it plots another available route. This will right itself when everything opens. I would be great if google fixed this.
      We have included the names of the waypoints in the description of each video and GPS coordinates for important places, so hopefully you can follow the route with that.
      We hope you enjoy the rest of the Heading North Playlist.
