I remember this interviewer from some years back when she told Sarah Silverman that for all she has achieved in Israel it didn’t count for much since she didn’t have children. Her tone was undermining Sarah the whole time. Certainly not objective. Sarah was professional in her response but I always wondered what she was thinking about the line of questioning.
She misunderstood his use of "honey". It's true that it is sometimes used condescendingly towards women (usually by really old men addressing waitresses in a diner), but that's not what was going on here. It's just a strange coincidence that they were talking about gender. As an American idiom, this "honey" can be used towards men or women in just the way he used it, i.e. "open your eyes."
