You’re wonderful to use your platform to help other dogs.
But she's small Vanessa! You can fit her in the pack!
I wanted to adopt a liver colored Afghan hound! He wasn't in pain or nothing! He was just old! They wouldn't let me adopt him because he was old! We had 5 acres of land for him to roam around in! We had high quality supplements for pets! But no, they just wanted to put him down!😡
@@latonyasmith683 What? What an evil shelter if they don't want to have him adopted and just prefer to put him down.
Pearl! Sweet baby, may we please get an update when she is adopted?
When adopting a senior pet, I found it helpful to go in with the mentality of “I’m giving an animal a nice retirement”. my boy was 10 when I adopted him and it has been so rewarding to watch him feel safe, warm, and comfortable with me. ❤
I started with an 8 year old Frenchie. He is now 13 with a heart murmur and the energy of a puppy. Lots of love, good food, consistent medication and lots of places to lay around. He is living his best retirement.
My mom takes care of a dog, who belongs to a family friend diagnosed with Alzheimer's and thus cannot take care of the dog. He's 15,5 years old, blind and deaf but his sense of smell is still there, follows my mom everywhere. We all know that he doesn't have much time but my mom truly tries to make his life good and comfortable.
My grandfather was walking through a shelter in 2003 looking for a second cat around four years old to go with his existing 4yo female. He found a lovely tortie and was on his way out when this tom caught his eye. A twelve year old purebred Russian Blue. Sitting in a shelter. So Papa said, "well, he can spend two years with me and then when he goes I'll just have two cats again" and that "I just don't want him to die in there". He took home both.
In 2012, just two days apart, the girls passed.
In 2014, shortly before Thanksgiving, that old blue tom purred for the last time.
He took in a cat for two years, or so he thought. He got eleven years of window-rattling, lawnmower-drowning purrs. He thought that cat would never pass! But he was so grateful every day for his grey buddy, who lived to be 23. He struggled to welcome another indoor cat after that, and passed last year, leaving cookie and his stray army to the family. We lost him just twelve days after my 14yo chow chow I'd had for half my life.
I now have a wonderful 2yo kitty and a 1.5yo husky, one born to a stray, one a street dog. I love them both. And for the next fifteen years, I am committed to making these two spoiled princesses happy. But I won't turn away cuddles from my mom's two twelve year old toms, her seven year old molly, and her ten year old beagle. Seniors are great.
My boy is 14. 15 in August. He's still doing good but the issues are starting to crop up.
I just lost my cat after 18 years. I decided to foster a senior dog or cat for the same reason....
Thank you Vanessa, we appreciate what you do for our organization! We cannot thank you enough. You have helped us raise awareness, raise funds through your friends, and donated personally to our organization. Most importantly, it helps us save more senior dogs! Oh, and of course groom dogs like Pearl to become beautiful again.
Much love ❤❤
❤❤❤
Thank you for the work you do.
Wishing you well!
Thank you for saving all these precious senior dogs a chance to live the rest of their lives well loved.
My first dog lived to the ripe age of nearly 18. A few months later, my sister adopted two senior dogs and while she kept one, the other’s schedule was so wildly different so I took him in. I tear up every time I remember the time it took to gain his trust and he went from being scared of everyone to leaning into my lap for cuddle sessions and worming behind me when I sat on the floor. I actually cried when he came and rested against me. I gave him the best last six months he had and I intend on adopting more seniors once I have my own house. They love just as hard as puppies do, just in their own way
Skin issues are the result of gut issues. I added pro-biotic powder to my brother's senior dog food and his skin issues were gone. He was a Maltese mix, deaf, blind, diabetic and lived 16 years.
this comment made me cry
“You can keep her but then im getting another German Shepard”
Absolute legend
Great video as always and I hope Pearl goes to a nice home :)
Lucas - My reply...
"And you're gonna help me with *every* bath they get, too." 🛁
And always remember: if you can't adopt Pearl because of distance or because the shelter decided to adopt her to another family it doesn't mean you have to give up on adopting senior or disabled dogs. There are plenty of shelters all around the world that have dogs just as perfect as Pearl up for adoption ❤
And if you can't adopt, you can donate!
also i love that Happy's is getting so much love, but your local shelters may need some love too!
No
I adopted my rescue dog this past winter. Poor girl was neglected and needed a lot of help. She's thriving and doing fantastic now. She was estimated to be 15 but is doing well. Love and quality of life can really turn things around for older pets.
You can also volunteer, foster, or donate ❤
My cat was nine when I adopted her and she had been passed over for adoption several times because of her age. I figured I could give her maybe 3-6 good years. Seven years later, she's about to turn 16 and is just as spritely and lovely as the day I picked her up from the shelter.
❤❤
I wish you both many happy moons to come
I'm adopting an 8 year old boy tomorrow, I'm so excited to give him the home he deserves and hopefully have as many happy years as you've had ❤️❤️
I wish you many happy years! I was lucky to have my childhood cat Jack for 21 years only dying after developing a growth on his head that interfered with his quality of life and we had to put him down. His sister lived to be like 19 so I’m wishing you some longevity cat genes!
And now, I'm instantly crying. :') ♥
At this rate, I bet she's live well into to her 20s.
I hope Pearl manages to get a very loving home!
It's actually my cats final days, and while it doesn't feel lucky watching her fade, I know I'm grateful that I got to spend at least 13 years with her. Boo-bear is my darling little dumbass, and I'll love her to the end of my days❤
❤❤❤
Boo-Bear ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
💖
remember that she got to spend her 13 years loving you too!
Yep, that sounds like the average description given for a cat
"Only the lucky ones get to watch their pet get old". I love this so much (Mom of two dogs who are 10 1/2 years old). Thank you!
We recently adopted a senior cat who is approx. 13 and a half years old. She is the absolute best. She doesn't destroy our furniture, she is potty trained, she loves to cuddle up with us on the couch and she bakes the best air biscuits. I love her with all my heart and I hope that she will be with us for a few more years.
At 13 she should have a couple of great years left, she might even live close to another decade!
My black kitty, and best friend, lived to about 21 years old. Her and I were only a couple years age difference:)
My Siamese was strictly an indoor cat. She lived to be 21 👌
@@astralb.2647 from your mouth. We rescued a senior cat, around 12ish, just over 2 years ago. Hoping we have a decade with her.
Yeah 13 isn't really senior for a cat...more like middle aged.
The love of my life dog-wise was an old papillon found on the Highway. He was a hot mess, but we bonded like never before. I loved him soooo much and he only lived one more year but I took fabulous care of him. I’m so grateful I had him it literally changed my life.
My soul-dog was also a papillon! I raised her from a puppy, and she passed away in June 2022 at age 14. Her birthday was a few days ago. It was a privilege to watch her grow old and care for my baby girl!
I have 2 papillons myself, and I can not even begin to describe my love for them. They are so loving and sweet. I was worried about how they would interact with a new baby in the house, but they have exceeded my expectations. They are so gentle with the baby, and are training him to play fetch with them.
Caring for someone, human or animal, in their dying years, gives us such wisdom and a greater capacity to love.
I'm so glad your guy got a good year with you!
@@KateLB1027 lucky pups and lucky you!
Can’t wait to hear who’s lucky enough to adopt Pearle!!! What a sweetie pie!!! 💜🥰💜
She got adopted by her Foster parents
@@madeleinegillett5892 Oh yes, I was wondering if she'd be a foster fail.
@@CraftyZanTub IMO, that's the best kind of win.
@@madeleinegillett5892that's fantastic news. So glad 😊. She's a sweetheart.
Donated! Thank you for drawing attention to this great organization. My Rose is 16 and I treasure every day with her.
Thank you very much M.Beth!
I was hesitant when my family adopted a senior dog after my childhood pet passed away; I didn’t know if I could deal with heartbreak again so soon. Lucy needed us as much as I needed her, and nothing gives me more pride than knowing she is safe, happy, loved, and enjoying the absolute heck out of swimming and waddling around carefree like the little Goose she is.
I prefer cats over dogs, for the reason that I can't properly exercise a dog.
But I still make a point of adopting older cats, and never kittens.
I also try and pick the adult/elder cats who have been "in the joint" longest.
@Tech Rats bark? I think you need glasses.
@Tech jokes on you because dogs AND rats are fuckin cute
@Tech you sound insane lmao
I lost my dog this week, so the idea of watching your dog grow old hit hard. Mad respect to those who take in these seniors!
I'm so sorry you lost your doggie xxx
So sorry for your loss. I hope you have wonderful memories.
Take care. This is a sad time for you! ❤️
I am so sorry for your loss...😞 hugs.
I’m so sorry for your loss; I bet your doggo appreciated all of your love and care. ❤
Oh, Pearle is a little angel! She reminds me so much of my little senior my family had for nearly twenty years (which, obviously, is ancient in dog years, but she was one resilient, healthy little girl). We quite literally grew up together. After watching her grow into her golden years, I'll forever believe that older dogs have some of the sweetest souls and are worth every challenge their ages present.
That truly is an amazing life you gave to your dog.
With a llittle dog you missed out (thankfully) on some of the hip and bone disorders that unfortunately have been bred into bigger breeds along with actually desirable traits. It's good to hear of these happy memories.
She was so well behaved and cooperative. Almost like she knew you were trying to help her ❤️
I had a senior pug , he made it a year in my home . He was absolutely worth every tear after he passed .
That is a very sweet comment.
Aww, that's such a sweet way to describe your grief. Indeed, a love so full deserves lots of tears.
😢❤️
"The lucky ones get to see their pets get old." This made me happy. My family dog, a lab/pitbull mix, is 9 now. He's all gray around his muzzle, but otherwise, you wouldn't know how old he is. He's such a sweet, energetic, snuggly boy.
My pup was also a lab/pitbull mix. She passed a month ago at 14.5. I feel lucky to have had her for so long. Enjoy the rest of his years and spend every moment you can with him 💜
a lab/pitbull must be the snuggliest little food vacuum 🤯
Our Pup, Truffles, is a Pit/?? Mix, and she's 8 1/2 now. Gray around the face, but otherwise doesn't know she's getting older!
Our toy poodle just turned 14. She's got untreatable health problems, so we're on the Rainbow Bridge watch.
Omg. Lab pitties. I had one when I was a teen. They’re the snuggliest cuddliest dogs ever. She was light brown and named Boots because of her white paws. She lived til 9. I miss how she would rudely force her snoot right between my knees when she wanted attention. Or how she would ask me to use her as an arm rest. Or how she would unapologetically put all her weight on her head when she plops down on my lap. Cant believe its already been 10years since she passed. 🥺
I adopted 2 adult dogs in 2009. I lost the 15 year old last July. My 18 year old however is thriving. We walk 1-3 miles 3-4 times a week, and just recently had to get steps as he can't jump up onto the bed in one jump anymore. However he loves seeing neighbor dogs on our walks and is my life and joy. Thank you for all the philanthropic work you do on behalf of animals! You are amazing and love every episode of your love-filled career!
We love hearing these stories!
Pp
When I was 12 my family adopted a bonded pair of pugs from a rescue, 5 and 10 years old separately. The older one was my baby, and I was able to spend five beautiful years with him. His younger brother passed last month at 13-14 years old. Even though I wasn’t able to spend as much time with them as I would if I adopted them as puppies, they were truly the joy of my life and worth every second ❤
oh my lord, what a sweet old girl! i just know she'll find a home at the speed of light, thank you for all you do for homeless pets like her
Since I was a little girl, when someone would ask my what is my biggest dream, or what I would do if I won a lottery, my answer was always about taking care of as many animals as I can, and rescue them all. I honestly even had a plan for sponsored adoption in my head in case I eventually become a millionaire. I love them all so much I have to actively stop myself from giving away all my savings for rescues.
I'm glad this channel is doing so much for the animals in need. Please let us know when this cutie finds a home!
i hope you win the lottery one day. the world needs more people like you! 😊❤
In my ideal world where I marry a ridiculously rich man... I'd have a massive petting zoo that's perfect for school trips, senior outings and outings for disabled and intellectually challenged people. I'd also have a dog rescue and a massive reserve/rescue/sorta- zoo for Bears and Wolves and other north American animals. There would be animal ambassadors and tours.
In this ideal world I simply own these things and can visit and help out whenever I can but I hire people to run them
Amen! May you become a millionaire! :) More power to you❤
As someone who has never had/wanted kids I plan on leaving everything to the humane society when I die ❤❤❤
Not on the site anymore for adoption, so I think Pearl must have found a good home already ?!? How great :)
I love supportive cameraman/boyfriend being like, "you can keep her, I just want another dog too". 😂
Thank you for bringing to light how expensive adopting senior dogs are. As the owner of one, it is expensive but very rewarding to just still have your pupper for a little longer.
I adopted a senior dog in 2021, he was 9 but had several chronic illnesses. I had him until one week after his 10th birthday, about a year and a half, and i will never be the same again. The love we shared while brief was great and timeless. I will never forget him.
We're very sorry for your loss, they will not forget your compassion. This is what senior adoption is all about.
awe, she’s so cuteee
What a sweet little old lady! She was so calm and quiet through everything
Thanks for all that you do, I am sending a donation on behalf of my adorable 14 year old Shihtzu Abigail Valentine 💝 I know the joys and challenges that come with a Senior Dog 🐕 😀 God bless you and your colleagues in this work for animals
Aletha, thank you very much for the donation! You are very kind.
We rarely get to see dramatic transformations on your channel so seeing you feature sweet seniors like this is wonderful. I hope Pearle goes to a good home where she can live out the rest of her life in bliss with people who love her completely.
Rescues are the most precious
All animals are precious
In a way it's both very rewarding and very heartbreaking to adopt senior dogs.
To state the obvious: You won't have them for long. In addition, they will have a multitude of health issues to deal with.
But in return, you will have probably the sweetest, most well-behaved dog you've ever seen.
Simply put......It is tough, but worth it!
That right there is the absolute CUTEST stinkin' little round marshmallow fluffster! I hope she finds her forever family very soon!🥰
I have no doubt, thank you.
No, Melvin has stolen the 'cutest' title.
She’s adorable. I hope she finds a happy home.
What a sweetie! You're right, it's a privilege to experience your pet getting old. The bond is stronger than ever then. Anyone who turns them out at an older age is heartless and evil, and they certainly don't deserve to have an animal companion in the first place.
Or they may have died. Sometimes people's pets outlive them. I adopted a senior cat whose human had died. She was wonderful, and I could tell she had been well cared for.
@@RedwingBB pretty sure that owner had family. I’m a bit more cynical of people I guess.
Absolutely agreed. It’s a contract entered into that they will give you all the love and snuggles they have as long as you keep loving them and taking care of them, even when it is hard or expensive. I have been there for each of my pets in their final moments, some definitely not as old as I would like. It is incredibly difficult but that is the deal.
All four of my dogs right now are seniors, two who I’ve had since they were puppies and two I adopted as seniors. Every dog deserves to have a happy ending.
Pearl is SO Adorable! ♥I am a big believer in fostering elderly/disabled or terminal animals so I will definitely be donating to Happy's Place Senior Dog Rescue! ♥🐶👍 Thank You Vanessa for ALL You Do. 🙏
Thank you Steven, you're the best!
Thank you for what you do! Hugs from me and my 10 yr old Jack x Yorkie 🐾🥰
Lucie! Thank you very much for your donation!
Pearl and Willa are both so adorable ❤️😭 I hope they both get adopted into good homes soon!
Older dogs have a certain charm about them that I absolutely love. Most puppies and younger dogs I met were basically all the same, playful and curious but when a dog gets older they all have a different personality. My first dog was a grumpy old man, the third is a a spoiled cuddle bear and the second one was in-between those two. I love older dogs more than even puppies
It is true, they are very well behaved! Some may be grumpy, but content!
One of the most beautiful dogs I've ever met was an elderly Australian Shepherd. She was mostly blind, deaf, and had arthritis as well as almost perpetual ear infections. But the way that she used to bounce around (despite her arthritis) whenever it was time for her walk, was truly joyful to watch. She was an old sweetheart, and I'm glad I got to look after her as often as I did. Many loved her, and many miss her. She had a good and happy life.
Thank you GWD for introducing us to Pearl, I hope she finds a loving home
Pearle didn’t even resist or argue, such a good pooch!
She is so sweet!
Adopted a sweet old girl with incontinence struggles about five years ago. When we adopted her, we were told she was somewhere between 7 and 12 years old. It seems she must have been on the younger side of that range - she's still with us now, with a spunky attitude and a lot more health issues (diabetes and Cushing's disease). She's been the best little companion and I'm so glad we gave a "senior" pup a home.
The Cushing’s can contribute to the continence issues. We learned with ours when she started too have issues
@@TheBaumcm yup!! We learned that undiagnosed Cushing can lead to diabetes, which is what happened in our case. But she was also struggling with incontinence from the start; a vet suspected that she was spayed at a really young age, leading to hormone issues that caused the incontinence
Bless you! Eleven years ago my out-of-state sister took their family dog to the shelter when she was 13 and developed incontinence that they could no longer deal with, on top of some other age-related medical problems that were limiting her quality of life. Her idiot wuss of a husband couldn't bear to go with her, and neither of them had the decency to euthanize her even though it was obvious she was suffering and God was calling. She was like, "We hope she gets adopted, but, you know..." I immediately called her and told her how cruel that was, abandoning their baby they raised since a pup -- at one of the worst times of her life -- and how scared the poor dog must be. We started to argue and she became irrationally defensive, screaming, "You're not married, you don't have kids, you don't know what love is!!!", before hanging up on me. It was a long time before we talked again. We're polite now, but I've secretly never forgiven her and I never will. Anybody who watches this channel knows that this is perhaps the worst thing a pet owner could do to their pet. Literally crying as I type, and watching sweet little Pearl gave me tears of joy because I know soon she'll be part of a loving household that will cherish her and treat her like a lady in her golden years.
I adopted a 10 year old miniature poodle last March she looked like Pearl. But Caroline had a large vascular tumor. She only lived 2 1/2 months. I gave her the best retirement I could. ❤
I don't think I have seen a more well-behaved, patient, zen dog than Pearle on your channel (and I am a regular viewer)! She is just adorable. And those eyes! Wish I could adopt her. Thank you so much for all you do for the fluff babies :)
We were able to see her before and after her grooming, she is a new dog now! Her foster parents are doing such a great job making her feel at home.
My aunt had a dog who didn’t have front legs. To say that dog was spoiled is an understatement. Vannie lived a very good life and was very loved.
My havanese Charlie turns 10 this year, and he just gets cuter as he gets older :) I hope Pearl (and Willa) gets a loving home!
I had a havanese named Charlie. He passed away last year.
My Havanese turned 8 in December and he still acts like such a puppy. It's strange to think that might change one day, but I'll still love him no matter what.
I love that you guys have a place that gives senior dogs a chance for adoption. Here in my country, most senior dogs dont even make it to shelters because they get eaten as strays before they are rescued. 😢 Its usually only the puppies that get adopted.
I’ve made a promise to myself. When I become more financially stable, I’m gonna adopt senior dogs and treat them like my own children. 😭
Hyldr, that is an amazing goal. You will get there! Let us know how we can help. Stay in touch
Seniors are the best. The last 3 dogs we’ve had were seniors displaced by circumstances beyond their owners’ control. We had Lucy, adopted at age 9, for 8.5 years. Henry came to us at “old”, and developed hermangiosarcoma on his spleen but had 2 legs very years. Sam arrived at 12.5 but still acts like a puppy. He’s been with us a year and has no signs of slowing down. Seniors are worth the risk. I ❤ them so fiercely
This made me remember the oldest dogs we've had. They were a male and a female. They both passed away from old age, and we loved them so much. I remember very how much it broke my heart seeing the male not being able to stand anymore and noticing that he was losing his sight. That made us take the painful and difficult decision to put him to sleep so that he wouldn't suffer any more pain, but him being the rebellious dog that he was, decided that he would leave on his own terms and peacefully passed away before the vet arrived.
She's a little sweetie. Even though she was trembling a little, she was still very well behaved. :)
The trembling is a little dog thing. Mine does it when he’s excited, cold, anxious. Pretty much any time he’s not asleep or being my shadow.
@@TheBaumcm Oh I'm aware, I just know that this little dog was bound to be a little anxious. Still a little sweetie.
0.19 The little head lean in.
Muh heart, muh soul. What a sweet little girl.
i rescued my baby at about a year old and she’s now 9, she’s still spunky and lively like a puppy. i’m currently caring for my aunt’s 3 dogs that are all 15 years old as well, they rule the house. with good care and lots of love, they’re all happy and energetic even with various health conditions. you’d never even know they’re 15! i love happy’s place and their mission! thanks for supporting them and everything you do!
Hey James, thank you for doing what you do!
She deserves all the love, cuddles, and healthy treats. ♥
Such a good doggo.
We just adopted a little 10 yr old doggie last spring. He needed extensive dental work and we booked him in right away. The vet said that a few of them just fell out during surgery. That might be the best spent money ever. This little fellow is a joy to have in our home. He comes everywhere with us and is great with people & other dogs. When the sad day comes when we have to say goodbye to Baxter, we will definitely look for another senior dog to live out their golden years with us. 🥰
Thank you for showcasing this topic. I bet that sweet little Pearl is already claimed by now 💖
Amazing, well done Kim! Need more people like you.
I am one of those lucky people, my 18 year old poodle is the love of my life. As Vanessa said, it is very expensive and a little sad to watch how he starts to lose his physical and cognitive abilities, but very rewarding as well, every day I try my best to keep him thriving. Seniors deserve as much love as puppies, maybe even more ❤
Thank you for helping these senior dogs. You have a big heart and again thank you.
I adopted my first cat when he was 7 years old. I had a wonderfully loving 5 years with him before he passed. I still miss him so much over 15 years later
This is a great example of how much love you can give to an animal that someone else let go.
I work in an animal shelter and its so heartbreaking to see people look over older pets and go for the kittens and puppies. Everyone there deserves a good home, not just the little guys.
This is true but you do realize how expensive vet care for older pets is, right? I spent probably $9,000 cumulative dollars on my cat in the last 4 years of his life due to dental surgery, diabetes care, bloodwork, prescription food, and a week long 4k hospitalization that he survived until 9 months later when his kidneys gave out for good. He was 17 and it was worth every penny but I frankly make a lot of money and other people don't. I have another baby who just became a senior and she is in beginner stage kidney failure and also needs dental surgery. Her care will add up. Compare to my kitten who just needed some start up care (vax, parasite treatment, neutering) and he will be set for years assuming nothing bad happens. (and all my cats are indoors). Senior pets are so incredibly wonderful but their health scares would make anyone who lives paycheck to paycheck break out in a sweat at the first sign of illness.
I adopted my senior girl when she was 11 and I had her for 3 wonderful years before she passed away this year from kidney failure. I knew she was the happiest she'd ever been in the last 3 years of her life and though it broke my heart to have her for such a short time, I just couldn't let her die in the shelter. Senior dogs and cats are wonderful companions!
I have only ever adopted senior animal companions. I have found the three I had were all well-trained, calm and really just wanted to eat, snuggle and chill all day.
We just had our first senior foster dog through Happy's Place! He's happily at his new home with two furry siblings. Thanks for featuring this awesome Ontario-based rescue :)
Just the most adorable little pupper 😭

She's such a sweet lil bean!
Aww. Miss Pearle is ready for the party. 🤍 So sweet and quiet as a mouse. I know someone is going to rescue this precious girl. 😘
My sweet dachshund will be 15 next month. Watching her get little bursts of energy makes my heart happy. ❤
Please omg you just made me cry with your opening statement
we adopted two senior dogs last year. They’re a bonded yorkie pair. The sweetest little things ever and there’s never a dull moment with them 🖤 seniors are the best
I have a little old lady too. Adopted her at 9years old, but she´s still with me now at 15 (Her age, not mine!) She´s now deaf, she has fuzzy eyesight, but she´s happy and I love her.
My life’s plan is to start a senior cat rescue because I know how often senior animals are overlooked, especially in shelters where they may not be the cleanest-looking. Cats have this problem a lot because when they get old, they tend to stop cleaning themselves. Knowing there’s a place like this for pups…gives me a lot more hope that I can make it!
I love her little senior trot!! She's so adorable - I wish I had the funds to adopt her. I work from home so a small, adorable, cuddly, and chill dog would be the best companion for me. When I make enough money, I'm definitely gonna head straight to a senior rescue near me and find a lil oldie to take home with me :')
Apollo, you are so kind.
We lost our sweet dachshund Wilson Patrick . He was 17 and we miss him everyday . ❤ 💔 😢
Dachshunds are the best! Lost my Heidi but know have my Mina and adopted senior Ella. So sorry about Wilson 💔
@@earlymorningtwilight9119 Thank you 😊. We have 2 other dogs as well one is a dachshund, Tucker James and a chiweenie , Baylee Ann .

She’s such a cutie! We adopted a 9 year old American bulldog to give them a retirement home as we were told she may only have a year left. Two years later and she’s still going strong and I can’t imagine my life without her!
You are absolutely correct that us lucky ones get to see our pets grow old. My family adopted a 3 year old from a local shelter, and she passed away last year... after 12 years with her forever family. Ramona was a good girl - Border Collie, Aus. Shepherd mix, with a few other breeds thrown in. A perfect mutt - haha! It is sad when they pass, but it brings joy to the heart to see them grow old in a happy place. R.I.P. Ramona. I hope you finally catch that squirrel :)
The perfect mutt, we have one just like that at home.
I adopted a senior dog myself many years ago, and she was the absolute best. She had arthritis, but could still run if she saw a squirrel. I miss her everyday, but I'm happy that I was able to give her a loving home for her final years.
We didn't get to watch our Diego get old. We adopted him at 11 years old. He was a senior chihuahua removed from a neglectful, hoarding home. He passed away just last week, after a long (but not long enough) retirement. Adopting a senior dog is one of the best things you can do, even though it can be hard to accept knowing you'll have them only for a shorter time!
Amen to that! I've owned 2 senior dogs over the years. My Ted was the best dog I ever had! I miss the old guy.
So adorable. That little face is to die for! She looks a lot like my senior maltipoo, Arthur. You are such a kind person. Thank you for all you do!
I’ve always wanted a senior pet so that I could give it a good life before they go. We didn’t find one but it brings me joy to see Pearl. Hope she’s living a good life
What a sweet calm girl, I hope that she finds a loving home soon. God bless you Vanessa and all dog rescuers. Much love from the UK ❤
Adopting our senior was the biggest blessing! ❤ old dogs are so thankful to be safe and warm and nothing compares to the love they give you ❤
My mom's doggo lived until she was well blind. She was adopted before I was born. Passed away while I was out of town and while it was really sad, I am extremely happy she was in our lives for so long and I know we gave her a lavish life. My grandma lost her dog shortly after, he was waiting for us to see him one last time. He passed the same day 30 minutes after we left. Oh the memories that just surfaced, I'm in tears. I always loved and will love our pets ❤️.
What a sweet little girl! Praying that she finds a home.
There’s always something so charming about dogs that at whatever age, they’re still extremely cute ❤
Awe if she wasn’t in Canada, I would love to adopt her. What a sweetheart
Pearle put a big smile on my face. She is so sweet! I hope that she finds a wonderful forever home soon.
PTL you are helping these lovely senior pets a second chance.
God bless you.
💜🙏🐶🙏💜
i love senior dogs. the thought that most get euthanized actually made me cry. they’re so lovable and deserve retirement too in a nice home with a loving human. i hope she finds her furrrrever home❤️🫶🏽
No, thank YOU for helping us help the animals in need. Thank you for doing this, for making it all happen, for organizing everything - we are happy to support and have this opportunity to help!
I love her! I adopted two senior cats and have absolutely loved every minute with them. It's been more expensive, but I got them insurance as soon as I got them and it's been very helpful.
What a sweetie! I’ll bet by the time I’ve seen this video she’s been adopted. ❤
I rescued a senior dog when I was addicted to heavy drugs. She was 10 and in really rough shape. Everyone says we rescued eachother as she got so much better and I sobered up because of her. I had her 4 years before she kept having severe seizures and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I miss that dog so much.
Pearl is such a precious little girl💖Willa may have a physical disability but with today's wheelchairs and other supports, I would not “diss” her ability❣️
Please keep us updated on these two sweet babies❤️
Precious Pearl. Someone is about to hit the doggie lottery. Old dogs are so full of love and gratitude. ❤️
I love senior pets, they have such a comforting presence. Pearl is such a sweetie, I hope she finds a loving home ❤
I'm not normally a small dog lover, but she's just so stinking cute. And you gave her a real night-and-day transition after the groom!
It's so fulfilling to provide a loving home for seniors in their old age. It can be hard to think that a day without them is coming closer, but I'd rather enjoy the time I have left then realize after they have passed that I was too focused on the fear of their absence to enjoy being with them. You will have all the time in the world to grieve. Don't grieve while they're still here.
that's a really good way to think about it
Pearl is so cute! She deserves to get adopted
Senior pets are the best! All of my dogs are rescues, and I call my two senior girls "experienced puppies".
