- In this continuation of the interview with Prof. Macharia Munene, he delves into the history of Pan-Africanism and its linkages with African nationalism. He tells of the Manchester Pan-African conference in which Jomo Kenyatta participated as both an organizer and presenter, together with the likes of George Padmore, W.E.B. Dubois, Kwame Nkurumah and other Africans. It becomes clear from the interview that the Manchester meeting was not just any other conference; from it emerged tacit and tangible strategies and tactics that participants could use to taken on the mighty colonialism. Also discussed is African participation in the Second World War, which exposed African soldiers and elites to the possibilities of their freedom. As Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi posed at that time: If the Europeans were fighting to preserve their liberty, what were the colonized peoples fighting for? This question and others livened the minds of the Africa soldiers and the political elites so much that the end of WWII became consequential on the British Empire itself. Prof Macharia also explains the evolution of the international order after the war, and pin points the source of the current power imbalance in the world order. #africa #africanhistory #panafricanism #panafricanisme #kenya #Kenyatta #GeorgePadmore #Robeson #Nkurumah #Dubois #Manchester #maumau #africanliberation

What is independent church
@@nyangarisazeal.1556 African Independent church during colonial era led by African ,not against education and Christianity but against western culture.
The Independent Church, now called African Independent Pentacostal Church or East Africa (AIPCEA) was started by Africans who were opposed to the mindless anti-African puritanism of the missionaries. They wanted to pursue a kind of Christianity that was more accommodative of African culture. It is the church most associated with the fight for freedom ni Kenya.
