I’m really glad you reviewed this light, I love olight, I’m dangerously addicted to buying their products. However this light is always on my belt as a security guard, this thing diffusing so many situations it’s insane. My uncle was walking home on new year's eve with his son in law. He noticed the fence was broken and the window busted, which wasn't that way just an hour ago.
He went closer to investigate and noticed the burglar was hiding behind the tree next to window.
He shined the light all 900 lumens at the thief. As a reflex his arm went up to shield his eyes from the light and in this instant revealed that the thief was holding 2 pieces of glass about 14 inches long to use as makeshift stabbies.
Without hesitating the son in law punched the guy while avoiding getting stabbed.
On the third or 4th punch the son in law got the guy really good that it knocked both weapons out of his hands.
The son in law then went to town to ensure the thief was sufficiently beat up before handing him over to the police.
Note: The instant the light was shown, because of the reflex of trying to shield the eyes, the son in law was able to punch the guy in the face really good. It rocked the thief who tried to fight back but with the light being shined at him from my uncle, he couldn't see where he was hitting. The son in law didn't even get hit once.

Can confirm about the strobe getting people's attention. I'm a mechanic for heavy duty diesel. And drivers will straight ignore your guidance while pulling over a pit and not even look at you. That strobe gets their attention real quick

    • @mahoslash
      @mahoslash Před 6 měsíci

Agreed, stobe attracts a lot more attention when needed and it's quite useful to remind someone to look at your way than anything else. It also tends not to blind people in accidental occasions when pointing the light at someone.
A burst of turbo in the wrong direction is a lot more dangerous in work related situations if you accidentally shine the whole thing right into someone's eyes.

I'll do some research on my own as far as price, water resistance, if the M2R also takes regular batteries, etc but more importantly, the tactics you demonstrated were awesome (lighting up the interior of a car without blinding yourself, the flashlight's reflective properties when shined upon white objects ). I thought a flashlight 's use was pretty basic but I got schooled and greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for the informative and fun video !!

It's still one of my favourites for defensive carry despite the latest flashlights I've ran.

I've been using the earlier non "pro" version of the warrior light for a duty light for about 6 months. I have one minor complaint about the modes you can setup the tail cap switch but they changed that with the pro version for the better. The only other problem I have with it is the body is a little slick for me, I'd like a little more texture to it. Other than those two minor things it's an outstanding light. It has a good mix of throw and flood for what I need. I almost bought the pro version when it came out but I don't know if it's that much better than the one I have. I have their weapon mounted light/laser too, Baldor pro I believe. It's nice too but it doesn't have the rechargeable battery and uses two 123s.

I had a fenix for like 3 weeks and lost it. I bought it I think because it floated. This was 10 years ago though and not enough time with it to give a fair comparison. I really like the olight though.

I have a Fenix PD22UE. It's plenty capable to shine light, I can do morse code easily, it even comes with a SOS setting, as well as a strobe setting. It's a bit short to use for a hammerfist but I recon it would still be better than having an empty hand. I would definitely use the strobe if a fight arose so I can confuse the opponent as I throw punches at them. I wouldn't recommend it as a primary self defense weapon, but without carrying a self defense weapon, it comes pretty close to one, and while I could knock someone out with it I am not too worried about doing too much damage.
I also have a UZI Tactical Pen w/ Carbide Tip Glass Breaker & Built-in Cuff Key that I would only carry if I knowingly get myself in a situation that could potentially turn dangerous. It wouldn't have as much of an effect for throwing punches, but it could easily stab someone or break their skull if it comes to a life or death scenario. And of course the glass breaker and handcuff key are nice bonus features.

I've been testing lights of various candela lately. For the vast majority of them in almost all except near-total darkness, holding your light off to the side makes it so that they can still see you, where at somewhere around 36,000 candela holding the light straight on (from 10 feet at the start of twilight) makes you (including your feet) completely obscured. My current testing only goes up to 99K candela.
I'm curious if the 250k candela light I have coming changes anything.

Would the flashlight be ineffextive during the day though? That's my only question because unfortunately was attacked in broad daylight and was wondering how effective that would be.

If you live in a community where being attacked in broad daylight is a possibility, you should just buy a gun.

The Olight S2R Baton 2 is a better EDC. Also, the butt of olight sticks on metallic objects for hands-free usage. (to confuse the enemy 😎)

The strobe is super good. You pour a little bit of food coloring into vodka and put it in there, it's great for mood lighting at parties and then everyone wants to do shots out of the "glowglass".
