FYI = 1986 Bird was the MVP and the FMVP just like Jordan. Also the 86 Celtics played before the league expanded. I am not sure which team would win in a 7 game series but I would love to see a time machine and see it unfold. We would need to see the matchups and watch. I give Boston the edge because of their size and believe Boston would dominate the game inside the paint. Remember this was before the advent of all the 3 point shooting.
This team reminds me a lot of he 1969-"70 Knicks championship team. Incredible team chemistry, always looking for the open man, and a great passing team with each player knowing their roles. I think it's impossible to compare era's but for the 1970'-'80's this Celtic team was the very best.
Bird was also MVP in 1986.
Certainly in the conversation for best team ever.

That '86 Celtics team was built different😁 When I think of how I would be a GM of a franchise in basketball, this is the type of team I'd model it after. Waay too deep, and no weaknesses. Bob Lee, longtime Boston writer even mentioned how they cruised alot during that year, that IF THEY WANTED TO, they could've put that wins total out of reach. That's just how freakishly GOOD they were!! I actually hated the Celtics growing up. Always had tons of respect for that franchise though. Bird, McHale, Parish, and DJ were my DUDES regardless amongst other greats I've always liked💯
I grew up a Celtics fan. I was 10 in 1982 and 17 in 1989 so yea they were my team.
So in a time machine tournament (say the best 8 teams ever) I’m putting my 💰 and ❤️ with the

I guess the only Argument for Either the "86" OR "96" Teams, would be Which of the Years here did They play against Full-Packed Stars on the Other Teams? Really how Many Great Players were on the other Teams in "96"? Because We All know that There were Many on other Teams in "86".
There would have been a Boston vs LA, Bird vs Magic round 2, but Philly was stacked and beat Boston.
Boston and Philly Eastern Conf finals were some of the best battles!!
Thank you. The mid 90's - Jordan's 2nd 3 peat - is when the quality of the league tanked. In '96, scoring dropped below 100 for the 1st time since the 1950's and stayed there for years and years. That drop in quality is why the NBA started changing rules and officiating with the STATED PURPOSE of making it easier for shooters to score. They ended up very nearly ruining the game of basketball and it STILL took until 2018-2019 season before scoring finally bounced back to the level of the 80's and even that is with the rules and officiating making it easier for shooters to score. So no. The competition wasn't as strong in 96 as it was in 86 because the quality of the entire league tanked.
Who went 50-1 home court record including playoffs? Boston in 86! I also think in 87 they lost only 3 home games in the regular season.
but honestly just as good as Boston was at home the bulls went 39-2 on the road legit one game difference and in the playoffs in 96 the bulls didn't lose a single home game the entire playoffs so it's subjective it comes down to who you like more
@@GoldenGrimmettProductions beating Utah with John and Karl was no easy task. I think 96 Bulls were amazing! I was a Barkley fan hate Jordan but I think winning against Detroit and then winning his first ring is his best team. The Hall of Famers he but away while taking over the NBA Mountain top! Until Kobe and Shaq took over!
@@rp584 that's why it's hard for me to pick a team when it comes to the 86 Celtics and the 96 bulls because they both had virtually flawless seasons against legendary players it's comes down to preference and honestly I like both so I can't choose 😂
ah *hem* . The bulls had an easier league. Let us not forget "todays" (soft league) had to start somewhere. No steamroll needed. Just a big truck.

I feel you but it's always going to be subjective just because the bulls team accomplishments that year rival that Celtics team on top of mj having a mvp year 90s wasn't soft it might not be as tough as the 80s but as far as overall accomplishments as a team that bulls team did everything I wouldn't be mad at anyone saying either team was the best of all time because they both have claims to it
