I'm 71, but 18 again when I hear this. It's over 53 years old. Incredible
I'm right there with you, 71 and still havin' fun!
71 here as well and every time I see or hear led Zep I am back at Sydney Showground in 1970 (or 71)watching them live.
Welcome to Led Zeppelin.
The rest of us been here for 50+years.
John Bonham on drums was perfect RIP to him 😔😔😔
💔
Bonham!!
I'm 69 years old and have listened to Zeppelin for decades welcome to my world
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
For those of us who grew up in the 60s & 70s, this was our everyday sounds.
I was born in 90s.. and that was my everyday sounds also.. lol
Hasn't changed.
And we were all in love with Robert Plant, well the girls loved him, the boys wanted to be him
Truth. This was normal music back then.
We where the lucky ones. We never thought it would end because it was everywhere and non stop. And then computers took over and young people stop being creative.
Now you see why theyre on t shirts everywhere! The KINGS OF ROCK! 63 yr old lady here!❤❤

Where have you been living? Hip hop is dead
So wonderful to see Led Zeppelin put smiles on your faces like they have on mine for 50 years.
Gentlemen, you have just witnessed the G.O.A.T’s of Rock, NO ONE COMES CLOSE!!
There were plenty of bands who were just as good. Music and live shows, albums, musicians. They were all unique as well.
@@rickmerritt128but Zeppelin is mostly number one
@@patrickhauser588 one would be foolish to argue with that. However, they are among my favorite musical groups in and around that genre along with 5 to 10 other musical groups in and around that genre that I hold in high esteem as well. Popularity is not necessarily a criteria for me but they all happen to be popular or famous in some way , shape or form.
Beatles are the GOATS
@@stevemabus6178 Beatles were amazing, but they were no ZEPPELIN!
I grew up with this level of musical brilliance in England. We were so lucky!!
Almost every band on my list has been from UK and I'm going back, being 69....
I reckon, definitely something in the water in the greater London area in the late 60's & 70's.
A golden era
This is what we call .... real music.
Led Zeppelin was many things, as a band, but their front man Robert Plant, adored American Blues. I had the pleasure to see them twice in NYC in 1977! They were and are my everything. To quote Jack Black “complex , beautiful, best band ever”. Check out their cover of Robert Johnson’s “Traveling Riverside Blues “
Led zeppelin is awesome

Very surprised men of your age had never heard any Led Zeppelin songs before. Saying that, once you hear more, you'll understand what all the fuss is about
No other band will ever top these guys!! ❤️❤️❤️
And now you understand what a Rock God is and why rock n roll is so iconic
They were steeped in The Blues, it was their foundation, but then they pushed the music into a whole other stratosphere. Mixing Blues, Rock, Funk, Folk and progressing with every album, you need to experience a bunch of tracks to get any perspective on their range. Each member of the band was so talented and worked together like a machine, which is clearer when you see live footage. They would extend album tracks into long improvised jams, with vocals and lead guitar trading riffs, the drums and bass a total powerhouse. Best to start with tracks from their debut album and work through songs chronologically, check out 'Dazed and confused' next for a slower swampy track. A lot of their stuff has been sampled and often imitated, but no one has come close to matching these guys.
Well said
Indeed.......great individually, chemistry together!
Yeah, what you said.
saw them in sold out concerts they played for 3 and a half hrs amazingying these guys strated in the late 60s early 70s thers alot of history to this group
Agreed. But they should still react to the studio tracks first. Jimmy Page's phenomenal production talent really shines through in studio.
And it is 50 years old. These men were innovative and absolutely set a bar many bands are still trying to hit. Heavy blues influences. What a journey you are going to be on!!
They top the charts in America first and then they're home country England. John Bonham is considered one of the best drummers ever. Robert plant is one of the top male singers ever so it's an incredible group. You guys should really listen to stairway to heaven
@@melodysoares5961 Yes, the combination of talent that comprised Led Zeppelin rarely comes together to form bands of such caliber.

Your reactions are MUCH more positive than my mother's when she heard it the first time I played it in 1972! Love it!

They are the ultimate rock band. That riff is fucking iconic.
Rip roaring riff roaring. Always makes me think of Top of the Pops too. Back in day😆.
We were supposed to see Led Zeppelin. Had our tickets. So excited. Then heartbreakingly the drummer, John Bonham died 😢. So so sad. Such a huge loss to the music world!
It was over after his passing
They were, are and WILL ALWAYS BE the ultimate rock band.
When the Levee Breaks, Stairway to Heaven, Black Dog, The Lemon Song, Battle for Evermore, Kashmir, The immigrant Song, Dazed and Confused, Going to California, Moby Dick... They dominated and changed rock music for more than a decade, dozens of songs that still shine 50 years later.
When the Levee Breaks was actually a Blues Song, and I'm pretty sure that Black Dog was as well
Nice choices.
@@Eric-ff4bf Somewhat correct with the former, incorrect with the latter.
@@ranica47 Happy to be wrong on Black Dog. When the Levee Breaks was first recorded by Memphis Minnie in 1929, though Zepplin basically rewrote the music while keeping the lyrics. Other Zepplin blues: You Shook Me and Howlin Wolf's I Can't Quit You
Stairway to Heaven is crap and boring.
Zeppelin were all about the blues...their entire catalog is amazing. When Jimmy Page (the guitarist...who played in the Yardbirds) formed this band, Keith Moon (The drummer of the Who) said...that'll go over like a Led Zeppelin. And....there is the origin of the name. In My Time of Dying is my favorite Led Zeppelin song. When the Levee Breaks and How Many More Times are great ones for reaction also.
They were honoured at the Kennedy Centre some years back. The sisters Anne and Nancy Wilson, from Heart, performed one of their greatest songs. Stairway to Heaven. They were joined by the late John Bonham's son on drums and 2 magnificent black gospel choirs. I've watched it many times and it still gives me goosebumps and brings a tear to my eyes. I hope you read this and have a look. It's spectacular. Peace 😊
As a 60 year old woman, I absolutely love watching you react to Led Zep!
Led Zepplin ruled the world throughout my junior and senior high school years. They are true Rock Gods.
The bands in the 70s, especially English bands, were so into our American blues music and incorporated it into their music. I am so glad I was a teen during the 70s. The best music ever!
73 & feel the same. Live shows were slamming
The blues had a baby and they called it rock and roll
Fact
Great reaction, gents! Zeppelin is the heaviest, most grooving, funkiest hard rock band of all time. They took blues, folk, soul, funk and metal and put it through the Zeppelin blender to make something new. Jimmy Page is one of the greatest of all rock guitarists, composers and producers, and they have the greatest drummer, singer and bass players of all time too. Check out When the Levee Breaks for the best hard rock blues monster ever recorded.
Led Zeppelin plays all genres but is primarily a blues band. They are at their best live! Check out Since I've Been Loving You from 1973 to see what they are really like in person!
Definitely!!!!
Agree for sure BUT their studio stuff is the best produced, engineered and sounding music you can ever hear.
As I've always said, listen to the studio first, then experience it live, it gives you more of an appreciation for how good they truly were
Yeah... no... I saw them in concert twice... their live shows were sloppy due to drugs... studio versions are so much better....
@@indyjohn59 That's not entirely true, some of them are sloppy at times, especially in the mid to late 70's, but there are some great live shows from them, like '73 Madison Square Garden they were at their very best, even if they were stoned lol, and I've seen/heard other live performances during the early 70's that were phenomenal. I've heard stories though of Jimmy being drunk at concerts, or stoned, whatever the case may be, but I'd pay just about anything to hear it as sloppy as they could get, I'd still enjoy every minute of it, unless one of them barfed, then again that might be great too lol
The greatest band ever hands down
John Bonham was by far one of the best drummers of all time. I saw them in 1973 in Jacksonville FL and 1977 at the Omni in Atlanta.
This is the greatest rock band of all time! Very bluesy and psychadelic at times. John Bonham, the drummer is considered one of the best drummers ever.
I wish he lived more. We would have seen more of Led’s then.
But he drank too much and the alcohol killed him. 😫😩😓
This band is the GOAT! John Bonham, the drummer was the GOAT and Robert Plant, best rock singer ever!! Can you tell I love them 😊
Just a bit😅😅 Me too👍😎
With all due respect, Freddie Mercury was the best rock singer of all time. Greatest front man of all time.

I grew up in Detroit so we had Motown along with everything else. But when I got to college in 1070 and this group showed up, it went through the roof immediately. This group had the big "IT." Stayed at the top for a very long time.
Led Zeppelin greatest rock band of all time!
Based on an old Blues classic by Willie Dixon. Early Zep based a lot of their stuff on Delta Blues songs. British bands were like PhD students of American Black Roots music. It was their main inspiration! ❤
Exactly ! Robert Plant loved Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson and had great admiration for Blues Black American music!

You forgot the part where Jimmy Page was considering naming the band The Yardbirds 2 or the new Yardbirds. That's when Keith Moon of The Who said it would go over like a lead balloon, or a lead blimp. Which led to Led Zeppelin.
When I heard this for the first time in '68 I finally saw the difference between the boys and the men. 😎

I was in High School when this song came out. Can you imagine the impact made on all of us, juniors and seniors? The girls went crazy, everybody and every single high school in the country sang "wanna whole lotta love". Pure rock and roll, nothing to do with heavy metal.
so cool to see people listening to led zeppelin for the first time! they were heavily inspired by blues music so a lot of their music reflects that, but with a rock twist. since i’ve been loving you is another good one by them 🙏
Yes! "Since I've been Loving You", live in Madison Sqaure Garden
Yes indeed!🎶💯
Not really. Their enthusiasm and comments are interesting but they insist on talking over 3/4 of the songs rather than pausing and it is annoying as hell.
For those of you who are somehow not familiar with this genre of CZcams videos, they exist purely to show a CZcamsr's reaction to another piece of content. For example, a new album might come out, and people will just record their first reactions to the album as it plays. 🫠🫠🫠💀💀

Well 3 more Zeppelin fans are born..welcome
Always fun (as a 50+ year old lady) seeing you guys realise that this was pure blues rock totally inspired by the black music from the 50's
And then that evolved into hard rock and heavy metal. There’s also now an African rock and metal scene, though still largely underground at the moment. See Rash (Kenya) and Skinflint (Botswana) as two stylistically different representatives.
And Delta blues from the early 20th century
Best band ever! Each member is a GOAT in their respective areas.
Awesome reaction! I am a woman in my 30s from the Netherlands. I first heard Led Zeppelin when i was 11. I was into it and been listening to them ever since. Never gets old, quality is quality. My number 1 favourite band. Also became a big fan of Kate Bush, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Nina Simone, funk bands like Parliament, Mozart, hell everything that got me early on, still gets me now. Quality is quality.. Also remember hearing 'On The Road Again' by Canned Heat when i was 7 or 8 and thinking it had an adorable and fun sound. Still love that song now

They were greatly influenced by southern blues. They did a lot of Blues/Rock. Try "I Can't Quit You Baby"
Need to hear the old Blues songs these were created form. They didn't write everything, deep blues singers made the start.
I was there when they started, and it was out of this world stuff that took a bit to get up to speed with them.

I did see Robert Plant in concert with SRV as the opener. SRV was better.
You were so lucky to see them, not only once, but three times, I had the chance to see them in St. Louis in either 75 or 76, but I backed out because my mom wouldn't let me go since I lived in Kansas City lol
If you haven't already... listen to When the Levee Breaks. It's LedZep's take on an old 1920s Blues song. You will probably recognize the beat because it was sampled multiple times the 80s & 90s 😊
Best drummer ever John Bonham
Real instruments, real vocals -- I'm all for it.
Everyone who hasn't heard Led Zeppelin expects to hear a head banging heavy metal band but instead Zeppelin delivers unparalleled and unexpected funk.
The thing about Led Zeppelin is that they don't fit so neatly into any one genre. The closest summations I can think of would maybe be "blues rock" or "hard rock", the latter of which is general enough to describe at least half of their output, but ignores the many acoustic songs that, in my opinion, are some of the best stuff they did. I'm a sucker for "That's the Way" and "The Rain Song" in particular. As for "blues rock", that's what they started out as and describes most of the stuff on their first album or two and is something they never really gave up completely throughout their time as a band, but as time went on they put out more and more stuff that went completely outside that box. They did quite a bit of folk inspired stuff and even dabbled in funk and reggae.
They also predate the genre of heavy metal, although were one of its most major influences. They're "proto-metal", as I like to put it. They laid a good deal of the foundation without ever really fitting neatly into that mold themselves. The fact that they have a literal heavy metal in their name probably doesn't help with that confusion.
You got it dude❤
If I remember right, we called it "progressive rock" (progrock) back then.
Grew up with LedZeppelin!! One of greatest bands EVER!!

A riff is a riff. These guys be nothing without growing up and influenced by blues music and took it to the studio and beefed it up. You guys have a fantastic show. Keep it up
A little history lesson. Back in the 60s, there was a band called The Yardbirds, featuring guitarists Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck. When Clapton left, Beck recruited studio musician Jimmy Page. In time, the band broke up, but they still had contractual obligations, so Page called in another studio musician by the name of John Paul Jones to play bass. They rounded out the band with Band of Joy singer Robert Plant, and his drummer, John Bonham, and they went under the name the New Yardbirds. Sometime around 1968, The Who drummer, Keith Moon, made a remark that any band formed by Jimmy Page would go over like a lead balloon, thus the band Led Zeppelin was born.
Sadly, in 1980, John Bonham died, and Led Zeppelin came to an end. But with it came a new sense of respect for the band, when Robert Plant said that if the remaining members were to continue to tour and record together, they would never do so under the name Led Zeppelin ever again (except special occasions such as Live Aid), because without any member of the original band, it was no longer the same band.
Moon named the band? That adds another layer to things. Thanks for the info!
"like a lead balloon" is an old saying to mean something that's sure to fail, so a lead zeppelin (dirigible) would be an even bigger failure. They varied the spelling to be sure people would pronounce it like lead, the heavy metal, not like "leed" meaning "in front".
Pretty sure Plant and Bonham were never in the yardbirds
@jr_gotrocks4796 re-read what I wrote. When the Yardbirds broke up, Peter Grant, their manager, was stuck with contractual obligations and only one band member, Jimmy Page. They then recruited session bassist John Paul Jones and Band of Joy members Robert Plant and John Bonham to fulfill the contracts under the name The New Yardbirds, which was eventually changed to Led Zeppelin.
Check out "When the Levee Breaks" by LEd Zep. The drums in this song will blow you away. And of course, you can't forget what's considered the greatest rock song in the world, "Stairway to Heaven".

Stairway’s sound is something we can enjoy. These reviewers might get lost in the more medieval British sounding 3/4ths of the song.
And of course those drums are sampled for many hip hop songs.
Now you know why all the tee shirts. The first time I heard this song I was in 6th grade. I had to go walk around the yard for 45 minutes to recover. Absolutely GREAT

Great reaction. You can't go wrong with any song when it comes to Led Zeppelin. Remember, these guys were trailblazers. They paved the way for a lot of bands. Led Zeppelin is also the most sampled bands in hip-hop.
You guys are awesome and you should know that Zeppelin and Pink Floyd got lots of inspiration from our southern black musicians from back in the day! I believe Zeppelin even re did a song called "When the Levee Breaks " about the floods in Louisiana in the 1920s ! God bless guys!

Love you guys. I am 71. Bringing you the music.
Something you need to know.
Music from this time has come full circle. In 1940s and 50s US white people didn’t get to listen to black music but the British did. The British bands would listen to the blues. They loved it. They took blues songs and played in rock. The Rolling Stones came to Chicago Chess Records to learn they went back UK made their version then went to US to play.
The music unites us over time
Before writing their own songs, they, The Rolling Stones, played mostly blues and rock and roll - artists like Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry. The band's name itself comes from a Muddy Waters song called “Rolling Stone”.
Younger folks today go back and want to reclassify the classic hard rock groups as metal. So yeah….younger people will say that Zeppelin was like the first heavy metal band. But they were not. They were a group that was based first and foremost in American Delta and Chicago blues and rockabilly. All the British rock bands of the 60’s and 70’s (except the progressive rock genre) were steeped in blues. Zeppelins first two albums leaned heavily on blues…and then they brought in folk, funk, psychedelia, even reggae and Middle Eastern sounds. To those who really know their catalogue, they are revered for their diversity of genres, for their immense improvisational skills onstage, their great use of dynamics in their music. Add all that to their talent and skills…each one a master….and their incredible stage presence…..and you have the top hard rock band of the 70’s………who also did beautiful acoustic ballads. 😁
Greatest rock band EVER- and will always be. So much soul. Some of their songs are remakes of old blues songs- totally elevated.
Magic years for SURE... I am here since 1958...these guys a lot older than me but damn.
Biggest band ever. Rock legends
It's hard to judge a band based on just one song. Yeah it's a good song, but it's really the amount of good songs they have, and the diversity of their music that makes this band great. As you go through their catalogue, you will recognize some of their music from movies or through hip hop samples. As with a lot of artists, some of their more popular songs are not their best. I'm pretty sure that the comment section will guide you in the right direction.
You hit the nail on the head, it's amazing how many great songs they truly have, no other band or artist comes close
@@Ledzepnut Yeah they generally had more good songs on an album than most bands had in their career.
The incredible thing about Zep, was they came out in the same decade that the Beatles changed rock. They took it to a whole new level. They were so far ahead of their time that they shouldn't have had the massive appeal that they did and do. Truly amazing super group.
I was there. I assure you they very much came out of and were a part of THAT time. The fact that there were a gazillion copiers after them made it seem as though they were @ahead” But they were perfect for the time they were in.
