Michael G Wilson & The 60 Years of James Bond Auction

- I had a wonderful time and some belly laughs interviewing Bond producer, Michael G Wilson and his son, Gregg, the always fabulous EON Productions Archive Director Meg Simmonds, and Bond Special Effects guru, Chris Corbould, for the 60th Anniversary Charity Auction at Christie’s. In fact, Michael almost let slip the shortlist of actors in the running for Bond 26! I also got to poke around the stunt DB5 from No Time To Die and got a close look at some of the highlight lots going under the hammer. Do stay till the end where I get to sit in something rather special!
We filmed our traditional pre-titles sequence before we heard of the tragic passing of larger than life legend, Robbie Coltrane, so I hope that he approves of our little homage to his introduction in Goldeneye, and that it acts as a small tribute to one of my favourite actors. I’m sure that he’s looking down, and giving us one of his Russian belly laughs!

My tenuous link to Bond is a phone call with Michael G Wilson whilst I was at Uni. My dissertation was on British film franchises and the man himself gave me an hour of his time for a mini interview, what a gent !

Great, brilliant vid Blair ! Very enthusiast with the interviews of MGW and his son. Nice to discover him a little more as he will be on command of the 007 franchise very soon i think. You can clearly see that Greg has so much love and respect for his father Michael.
Sadly I fear for the Bond franchise if Greg takes over. It will be inherited, not sure about earnt and I don't think he's tough enough or with an edge and far to lefty and politically correct with little love or understanding of Fleming's character of Bond. He's soft, a snowflake.
Michael is still as charming and likeable as ever.
We'll have to see which direction they go in- EON might pass the reins to Amazon...?
