As a music major, knowing what Rite of Spring is supposed to be and then hearing the Fantasia version has me in shambles
They massacred that beautiful piece of music. Whoever did that should be ashamed

I like how the context of that Danganronpa song is that it was literally blared over intercoms for 48 hours straight in-game with the intent of pressuring the characters to kill someone. I wonder if the submitter knew that.

That song sounds like the duo protagonists sneaking around a dark theater or lair trying to avoid being noticed by the main bad guy, who's just too busy laughing and cackling to notice.
I love how every time Coney tries to get the like button to light up, it never works, but Alpharad says "ah, so that's the roguelike button" and it lit up for me

Wasn’t that Fantasia game the one that got recalled after like 4 days because Walt Disney explicitly forbid them from making a Fantasia game and nobody told them until the game was already released?
Walt allegedly didnt want any Phantasia adaptations, but he was dead for 25 years once the game came out. it was Roy E. Disney (Son of Walts brother roy) who demanded that they stop selling the game due to Walts wishes.

If I remember, Infogrames was given the license to make a Fantasia game only by accident, and that game is the reason why Disney Interactive was a thing (like, until 2016 anyways)

I’m kinda miffed the editor removed some of the best bits in the stream, like Coney’s joke about how that earthbound song was when somebody passes a speech check on you, or when a chatter said David Bowie sounded like that because he had dirt in his vocal chords

Ok I'm going to be part of the stereotype but the Danganronpa song plays during a part of the game where there's a countdown and someone HAS to die before it ends, it's basically designed to highten the stress and anxiety of the subjects to make them snap, so it does kind of make sense in a way lol
the anime loading screen is the true winner here, shit was so annoying they rather vote it out and never listen again

Fun fact with regards to the Fantasia game: Sega didnt get the license for the game, and Walt disney apparently told his family that he didnt want any cross media adaptations of Fantasia to be made after his death. So the son of Walts brother, Roy E Disney, Personally made Sega destroy all unsold copies once the Disney company learned that the game existed
It was also developed by Segas Z Team (exactly 6 people), since it was Developed at the same time as the original sonic.
I mean, when you say it like that, you make it sound like they're some badass, underground spec-ops of game developers creating illegal games in secret, away from the prying eyes of the government and the press.
Yeah, it also has a reputation as one of the worst Genesis games period - led to stricter quality control on Disney games afterward

During the Yoshi’s Crafted World song I didn’t even realize that Coney was the one doing the stupid whistle until i looked up from my food and saw him doing it. It fits that well with the song.
The fact that one of the greatest rock stars not only wrote Omikron but was proud enough to put his name on it makes it a win in my book
He did a couple of music tracks and voiced a character in Omikron, he didn't write the games story.

The thing about Omikron is that David Bowie didn't actually do all the music in the game. He played an important yet still minor role, and gave David Cage some B-Sides to put in the club you can go into. He is *NOT* responsible for that track. He is not going FEE FI FEE FIDAH FEE FI YO FIYAH
I was under the impression that Bowie didn't want to just license out music to them and on a whim decided to make a whole ass soundtrack

1. The Fantasia game wasn't even supposed to be allowed to made so that's one curse factor against it.
2. That's suppose to be The Rite of Spring, the orchestral piece. It's one of the worse video game covers ever if you compare this version to the original.

Mega Man 7's Robot Museum is a good song by pure virtue of being a medley of other good songs, even daring to put it there is a crime.
Some of this was cut from the video but a lot of the early round losses were because they were actually decent/good songs.

Putting earthbound music in a worst game songs pile is outrageous it has strange music that’s what makes it amazing.

I surprised somebody submitted the spyro one. The game feels like lost media sometimes. Stewart Copeland usually doesn’t miss with his soundtracks but the rushed deadline is probably why ripto’s arena sounds like that 😂
Same deal with why Treasure Caves from Wild Woody (featured in the last bracket) was so bad even though Bumblefoot of Guns and Roses composed it. He had less than a month to do all the music!

There's a good argument to be made for Hunter GB. As a song out of context, it isn't on the level of fantasia or the giggler, but you have to realize that that song is a substitute for the entire audio of every game boy game ever made, so it had massive shoes to fill, and that is how it filled them
And the Gameboy had some pretty cool music! (Unless your game was titled Mega Man)

Yoshi's Island is LITERALLY a baby game. Like that is the main plot point of the series. It makes sense for the music to be in line with that. Even the original Island games had pretty childish sounding music.
Yoshi Story, yesi ts supposed to be a picture book, but it wasnt bad sounding. same with yoshis island, yoshis island ds, new islands music sucks but its still on theme

Out of every video game theme I have listened to, I think the sewer theme from Urban Yeti is the best worst one.
Appreciate the shoutout for Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage soundtrack in the town of Gwernia. There are definitely some other great contenders in the soundtracks for this contest but was great to see it go head-to-head with Mickey!

The Taz-Mania train sounding song is shockingly one of the most bearable on the entire soundtrack. Check out the Badlands theme if you don't value your hearing
The funniest part about the fantasia submission is yes, it's classical (edit: well not classical in the actual era but neoclassical), but it was from rite of spring, which was so avant garde for the time that it caused riots in it's first performance.
Also that opening solo was a bassoon played so high, other composers didn't even recognise it as a bassoon. In the fantasia version it isn't even very high and sounds more like a midi tuba, and the other voicings are super non threatening while the ballet it was set to is literally about a torture dance and it was meant to sound scary and weird.
I loved the first episode of this. Didn't know there was another. I love finding new game music, normally the really good ones but it's cool to hear the polar opposite too. They finally got taz mania involved too, in the first episode I mentioned that OST in the comments last time, something went super wrong with the whole thing codingwise rather than composerwise but it's still funny
