Impressed by San Diego highways system. When we talk about wide highways, stacked interchanges, we immediately think of Los Angeles. But I do not know San Diego was almost similar in some points. Nice video!
Seen this video and reminded me of home. We traveled a lot on the 5, 8, 163, 15, 805, and CA 209 aka Rosecrans street. Rosecrans st was the main exit we took to get home, we lived in the military housing close to Rosecrans. At that time it was CA 209, but learned it was deactivated around 2011. Read it to become historic CA 209 soon. Sorta the status 163 is now,
Nice ride.... I-8 ain't a bad ride at all from what I remember of it- was on it for a little before heading to the 163 as it heads towards downtown San Diego. Really am hoping you got to do the Balboa Park freeway- Cabrillo Freeway if memory serves- great ride and awesome trip!
The dreaded "marine layer". You were lucky it burnt off so fast. The few times I was out in SoCal that layer held on to 11 and reformed in the evening. The chamber of commerce beach weather 78-80 degrees only lasted a few hours a day. Most of the time it was dank and a bit cool.
Jim, I think you were following me all over SoCal in June! I was on the 210 the same day as you, and I came back to SD on this day to take my red eye back east that night. Turned out to be a very lovely day!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it and yes it is a neat road.

Man I love San Diego. When I grow up if I had the money I would live in San Diego no doubt!!!!

beautiful drive !
Much appreciated, thank you!
As always, you made it: I traveled along!
:)
Thanks for sharing!
Great ride Jim! Maybe Caltrans wanted to make sure you didn't get lost in the beginning.
I love the music and the video!
Thank you!
Just took a day trip to San Diego from Orange County and indeed, freeways are nicer and less congested than in LA!!

LOL, thanks, we saw a lot of the Redundancy Dept. at work out there with regard to freeway entrances.
Thanks!
Thank you, It cleared up shortly after for the next video
Cool video. For me, in Michigan, it's interesting to see all the huge intersections that are all bridges, something that rarely exists up here.
Very nicely done! Too bad it was gray outside though.
fun drive Jim
Thanks for watching!
great vid FWJ!
I drove through it on I-20 on my way back home to Atlanta and have one video of Shreveport coming in January.
When You Said 6 Interstate 8 Signs, I Counted The I-8 Signs And There Were 6 Of Them
That was the point ;)
Righteous music, and just perfect for that stretch of Interstate 8. You do get around, don't you?
Thank you, I really only take one trip a year, I just try to make the most of it.
Cool!!
I got down to the last exit on I-5 then crossed the highway and that was it, started heading north again, you'll see in the next video on Friday.
I don't know for sure, my best guess is that it might designate a Truck Route.
Ha! funny if that really was the case. I went back to LA after leaving San Diego. Yes this day turned out very nice.
What was that Blue T sign below the END I-8 to represent?
I Ever Been to San Diego
We won't see the 405 until later in the trip....you can see it at night in video #13-33.
I got to the last exit as I stated earlier, you'll see in the next video.
A shame I-8 doesn't actually end AT a beach!
If we had them like that here, in 10 years they'd start crumbling down, and dangerous.

Why does I-15 terminate at I-8 and not I-5?
From what I understand it's because I-15 is not built to Interstate Standards south of I-8, which is why it is sighed as a state highway (CA-15).
Thanks, yeah, Michigan's freeways are quite different than this, lol.
Freewayjim has
I live in SD
Is anybody having problems with 720p ? It won't work for me.
Freewayjim how do people get to that building at 2:52
There are regular roads there, check it out on Google Maps.
Did you ever get into Mexico?
Carlos Santana music?
Not really, these are all former members of Santana who are accomplished rock stars in their own right, they only did this one CD together.
lol my most mom will work in that highwy
North of the Border? Canada ALREADY?! ;)
No I did not.
Maybe the largest city in the country not to have one.
Thanks!
Thanks, it is a very impressive system, especially considering the metro San Diego area is only 3 Million people.
Thanks for watching!
No I did not.
